Chapter 19 charity ball

DANIELS POV

I decided to get to Mia's for 7:20pm

That way she wouldn't already be downstairs already waiting for me, I could escort Mia down like the gentleman I praise myself to be. So now I'm knocking on Mia's front door awaiting in my tuxedo I brought for tonight. I can't wait to see what Mia brought with Leahs help. No matter what she is going to look amazing, Mia always looks amazing.

The door opens and my eyes look ready to bulge out of my eye sockets. Mia is stood with a low cut neckline strapless long black dress that comes to her ankles. It's body tight but flows on the legs with a slit on her right side leg up to above the knee revealing her slender leg slightly. Some lovely little black heels. Mia's hair is in a lose bun with a few strands lose and curly. Simple and light make up.

"Your early" says Mia.

"Yeah I think we should cancel" I say handing over the bouquet of flowers I'm holding.

"Aww, there lovely thankyou, but why do we need to cancel?" Mia asks.

"I think, I should carry you to bed right now you look define" I say before kissing Mia against the door.

Once I pull away Mia Says "no we are going, wait to seconds I will get my bag."

8pm

I'm walking into the ball room with Mia on my arm. Usually these things are boring but tonight I'm happy to be here with Mia beside me.

"Wow this is alot of people" Mia says.

"I know but your be fine Leah and cliff are here. Cliff is here with chloe there Engaged. Then my friends Ben and Owen are here as well" I say.

"More people to meet" I hear Mia quietly say.

"Owens came with his wife Jodie. Your like them so just relax." I say

"Okay" says Mia while plastering on a face as if to say let's do this.

I look around for everyone to find where there sitting when I hear, "about time you arrived" shouts Jodie from the near our end at the bar

"Where is everyone at?" I say to Jodie

Here take these drinks I will show you" she says handing over the drinks.

"Jodie this is Mia, Mia this is Jodie" I say.

With that Jodie takes Mias arm saying "come on then."

"Hey you can't steal my date" I complain.

"You steal my husband enough so shush" she says.

"I had your husband before he met you though! just like I met Mia before you" I say.

"Ignore him Mia once they all get together there a nightmare" Jodie says to Mia.

"I heard that" I complain.

"And you were ment to" Jodie says.

"So Mia you excited to be here?" Asks Jodie

"A little nervous, it's the first time I've been to a charity ball, and first time I've worn a dress like this" says Mia.

"Your be fine angel" I say.

"You look great, stick with me and the girls and your be fine" says Jodie.

"What took you so long?" asks Ben as we approach the table there all sat at.

"You can't rush these looks" I say.

"Alright stop bickering everyone, meet Mia" says Leah.

Everyone then introduces themselves to Mia. Mia says hi to everyone. Before we sit down. Mia and Leah are sat to my left with Ben and Owen to my right. Chloe and Cliff are opposite me.

"Alright drink up because you know the rules last in buys." Says Cliff

"Looks like your buying the next round" says Ben to me.

"Alright, get the list sent over in a text to me that way no one can complain about wrong drinks" I say.

The girls start chatting getting to know Mia and she seems to be less nervous now.

"I can't make the next poker night, I have to fly to America for a business meeting that Weekend" says Ben

"What about the weekend after?" asks Owen.

"Yeah I'm good with that" I say.

"Sounds good to me but since Ben cancelled he can host it" says Cliff

"How about a bbq, then the girls can come over as well, be good to get to know Mia some more" says Ben.

"Oi what about me?" says Leah

"You know I'd never leave you out your like my little sister to me" says Ben.

It's true Ben always wanted a sister and took on Mia like a sister when we grew up I thought to myself.

"Okay I'm coming" says Leah.

"You want to go?" I ask Mia.

"Yeah, okay then when is it?" Mia asks

"In 2 weeks time" says Jodie

"I know how about we go shopping during the day have a girlie afternoon before we head there" says chloe.

"I'm game" says Leah and Jodie at the same time.

"Sure" says Mia.

"Okay who wants drinks before they start the charity dinner and auction" I say wanting to get this drink order in.

"Actually where the lady's room?" asks Mia.

"I will show you" says Leah. "I will join you girls" says chloe.

"Okay, I will see you in a minute" I say heading to the bar.

I give over the drinks order to the bar tender as the texts start piling in with the group orders.

"Oooh Dannnisl myy sweeet ex howw aarr youu?" I hear from the very person I don't want to see or hear from.

"Cindy your drunk! Where's your brother, I will take you to him" I say as soon as I look her. I may not like the women but I still have respect for her family.

She better not cause trouble I think to myself. Last thing I need is my ex causing drama with Mia here.

Cindy throws herself at me.

"Cindy get off me Where's Dean? You know your brother?" I say trying to get Cindy to stand a little away from me.

Cindy instead clings to my arm like a child.

"Ssoomewhhere, I missssed yoou how bout weee goo ack too yours?" Cindy slurs.

"No Cindy" I say as I look around trying to see if I can find Dean in the crowd but I can't.

Next thing I know Cindy has her arms around my neck kissing me. She nearly falls so I grab her to stand up on her feet. While trying to pull away from her kiss. It's not easy, and I'm getting annoyed.

MIAS POV

As we walk back into the charity ball room I see Daniel at the bar kissing some women.

"Who's is that kissing Daniel?" I ask the girls.

"Oh s**t" says Leah

"It's Cindy his ex" says Chloe.

"His what? He is kissing ex! It doesn't look like she is his ex" I say

"I don't know why, but I will get to the bottom of it" Leah says storming off toward them.

"Chloe it was nice to meet you, but I have to go. If Daniel asks where I am tell him I won't be in work next week is that okay?" I say.

"I'm sorry and of course I will Mia" Says Chloe.

With that I ran out as fast as I could so I couldn't cry in front of them. As soon as I left, I see a taxi dropping someone off. I got into the taxi and went home.

When I got home, I quickly got changed packed a bag while ignoring my phone ringing. And headed for my car.

As i was driving out my car park I see Daniels car arriving but I just drove past him and continued towards the motorway. How could I be so foolish to think he was different. Foolish to think he cared. I couldn't deal with this my life was a mess. I stopped by the first service station on the motorway and decided to ring Rosie.

RONG RING RING RING RING RING RI

"Hey how's the ball?" Rosie says answering the phone.

I couldn't stop myself no longer I started to cry.

"Mia what's wrong? What happened?" Rosie asks

Once I carmed myself enough I decided to speak.

"I'm on my way home, can I crash with you for the night? I don't want to wake my dad." I say.

"What happened?" Rosie asks

"Daniel was kissing his ex at the ball, so I ran away packed my bags and currently on the motorway back." I hurriedly say as if saying it any slower would burn me.

"That slime ball! I will throttle him alive" shouted Rosie.

"I know it was horrible." I say

"Girl hurry home, I will be waiting with ice cream and baby Bella will love aunty Mias cuddles." Rosie says

DANIELS POV

After Cindy kissed me and I knew she wouldn't fall, I pulled away telling her "To not touch me again. I was with someone else now."

Then Leah stormed up to us saying" she was gonna rip Cindy to shreds if she didn't disappear quickly".

I tried to explain it was nothing but she told me "to shut up."

"Cindy Where's your brother?" I asked again

"Nevermind where her brother is you need to go find Mia she saw everything" Leah informed me.

I told Leah "to get the drinks" and I went in search of Mia. I happened to see Dean in passing so I told him "he better go deal with his drunktard sister" before I continued on my way to finding Mia.

I checked the toilets then went outside. I couldn't see Mia anywhere. So I kept trying to ring her but there was no answer.

After 15 minutes I decided to go to her flat, expect on arrival she was driving out the car park. By the time I turned around the car I had lost where Mia went to.

Now I was regretting going to the charity ball, all I wanted was to see Mia happy now my ex has gone and destroyed that when Mia doesn't need it the most.

I went home and rang my sister.

She informed me that Mia had told chloe she wouldn't be in work the following week, so I guessed she went back home for a week. I couldn't blame Mia after everything she has been through lately tonight was certainly not what she needed.

I decided to send Mia a text.

I'm so sorry Mia, Cindy kissed me! I didn't kiss her. I'd never do that to you. Please give me a chance to explain what you saw. I don't know where your going but I assume to your home town. Please let me know you arrive safe. Chloe said your taking a week of work. That's fine take as long as you need. Again I'm so sorry xx

After that I had a few beers while I kept checking my phone but Mia hadn't rang me or replied I stayed awake until 2am before sleep finally took over me.

I woke up the next morning to see a text from Mia saying.

I know what I saw. I arrived safe. Don't worry I will be back to work after I've had a week to get my head together. In the meantime I don't want to hear from you so my phone will be off.

I tried to ring Mia but like she said her phone was off.

I then rang Leah

RING RING RING RIN

"Have you heard from Mia Leah?" I ask.

"Morning to you to, and yes she messaged saying she went to stay with Rosie so couldn't make lunch with me and mum today, but would contact me when she is back. You really messed up last night!" Leah yelled back at me.

"Leah Cindy freaking threw herself at me not the other way round. She was a drunken mess and could hardly stand. I was trying to stop her from falling while trying to pry her away from me. I'd never do that to Mia! you should know that, I'm your brother" I say annoyed

"I know, I'm just angry because Mia isn't having a good time lately and I already see her like a sister in law, it's her birthday today first one without her mum and she is upset over last night" leah says.

"I know that Leah what should I do?" I ask desperately wanting some good advice to correct this mess.

"Give Mia some time. I will help you win her back when she comes back, by the way mum knows as well she isn't happy she wants to go over and deal with Cindy herself she is fuming". Leah says.

"Trust me if I see Cindy again I'm gonna be dealing with her, I hope mum doesn't yell at me to though." I say.

"Alright, well we should still go to mums tonight she brought everything in for Mias surprise bbq, May as well still have the bbq and we can conquer mum together what do you say?" Leah says.

"Thanks Leah, I will see you this evening" I say.

After I hung up I sent Mia a text message.

I'm so sorry, i understand you need time to think. I hope you have a good birthday and I'm sorry last night went pear shaped. I will see you when you come back xx

MIA'S POV

After I arrived to Rosies, I told her everything. We ate ice cream and I cuddled Bella. I told Rosie not to tell my dad, I didn't want to upset him. So I decided to say I came back to surprise him for my birthday while taking a weeks annual leave, so I could have some time being my first birthday without my mum.

The following morning I woke up to Rosie singing happy birthday to me before I went and spent that day with my dad. We visited my mums grave before going home for a take away.

I wished my mum was here one because it was my birthday and I missed her dearly. Secondly because she would know what I should do regarding Daniel. I've really started to like Daniel but then find him kissing his ex in front of serval people, it really hurt to be treated like that. I also felt bad for ditching sue and Leahs birthday lunch plans they have been so nice to me, but I couldn't bare to be there knowing Daniel would come looking for me. I needed some space and quiet to get through the day as it was.
