Chapter 1

3399 Words
The nerve of this guy trying to fit in this messy family. Mommy has been calling me for dinner but I’m still in the middle of talking with my new toy. “I promise you Blanca that I will never leave you. Napakaganda mo talaga. I will love you... always.” Nakakarinding sabi ni Iñigo Villanueva. Schoolmate namin siya noong year 7 to 9 but he transferred to a different school. Ngayon, boyfriend ko na. He’s enrolling to UST as well. He’ll be taking Mechanical Engineering. Chaebol. Means, mayaman. “This is still day one, In. Promises are meant to be broken. H’wag ka munang mangako diyan.” Dahil isang linggo lang tayo magtatagal, I want to continue. Me and my reputation. Alam kong alam niya ang image ko sa school way back. “I don’t care of what people say about you. I swear, I’m in love with you. Masaya akong akin ka na ngayon. I love you... Blanca Nemesis.” Ma-ala Mr. Romantiko niyang sabi. I rolled my eyes for a hundred times. This guy is already clingy. Ayaw ko ng gano’n. What am I supposed to say now? I love you too? Ew! “I...” Suddenly my door opened. I literally jump on my bed. “Stop being rude, your mother has been calling you for dinner.” Malamig niyang sabi. Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay. The guts of this guy. Did he just scold me? Who are you? This is your day one in this freaking house. “In, I’ll just call you back later.” Sabi ko sa kausap sa phone. “Alright, I love you...” Pang-ilang I love you na ba ‘yon? Nakakasura! Binaba ko ang phone at tinabi. Amp... Now, Levi raised his eyebrow. Oops, I shouldn’t leave the ‘kuya’. But he doesn’t know so... “It’s also rude to enter my room without knocking and asking my permission. You’re just new here.” Ngumisi ako habang tinataasan siya ng kilay. “Who the f**k are you to tell me what to do?” “B, stop acting like a child.” Malamig niyang sabi. “Then stop acting like you and I were close.” I raised my eyebrow, you’re liking the view? Asshole. Wala kayong pinagkaiba mga lalaki. You all are the same. Walang breeding! Akala ko ba’y abogado na! Binaba ko ang dress. I have a short hair, I flip and walk towards him. “Hindi ka pa rin nagbabago, kuya Levi.” Sabi ko at nilagpasan siya. I can’t believe that from now on, or in a month before I move out, I’m going to share a table with him. In our big long dining table. I have here my parents at ang kinukuyang ampon nila. Aren’t we a happy family here? And look, they’re celebrating as well, maraming pinaluto si mom na mga putahi. He’s really that special, huh? Special pa sa sariling anak nila. Gusto kong matawa. I can’t believe this right now. Dito na talaga siya titira. Calm down, B. Isang buwan lang ‘to! If you can’t take it anymore, you can move out as fast as you can. Kakayanin mo ang isang buwan. Try to swallow your food now and act that you’re grateful. “So, Levi... I heard from my darling na siya ang nagpaaral sa ‘yo bago ka nagsarili?” Tanong ni daddy, he really did stress the word ‘darling’ and look at how my mother flirt with my father. Kadiri. “Yes, Tito. I’m very grateful to Tita. After my mother died, kinupkop niya ako. Calling him ‘kuya’ wants me to throw up. Yet, it comes naturally from my mouth. It’s like how you say ‘kuya’ to someone older than you. I’m most grateful, Levi.” “You’re still humble until now... I’m proud of what you have become.” Are they playing ‘sugarcoating compliments’? My mom is really soft for him. Paborito niya talaga ito simula pa lang. No wonder why she brought him to our condo before. Pinag-aral at binihisan. He’s just an orphan. He’s now a lawyer, huh? After his graduation in college, nawala na lang siya bigla. Five years ang agwat naming dalawa. I’m turning 21, my best friends are still 16 or turning 17 or turning 18 like Winona. Lumipas na talaga ang panahon, I’d be 25 when I graduate. Ang mga kaedad ko siguro ay may mga anak na or probably nakapagproceed ng law or PhD. I’m too left behind but I don’t give a damn care. I’ll do whatever I want. They start talking about the campaign. I continue eating as if I’m a ghost. I’m not into Politics like what my father wants me to take. Gusto kong mag-business. They can’t say no. If they do that I’d be glad stop studying and I’d be busy ruining their lives. The only responsibility I have in this family is joining them to church or attend to events to show that we’re a f*****g happy family. My crazy parents had a crazy arrangement before they got back together. We become as one every Sunday. I had no choice. People think my family is very modest but no one knows that my parents separated for years. Now, bumalik at dumagdag pa si Kuya Levi. How insane will we get here? I’m thrilled. What’s next for Santiago family? The next day is very boring. Rafaela left the city for good. Win’s busy. Xylie went abroad. Ayessa is late in our meet-up. When will you change? Nga pala, Ayessa’s dad is a lawyer. I wonder if I can ask him... about... f*****g s**t, Blanca. Shut up! “OMG! I’m late,” she was breathing hard when she arrived. “You are very late.” I sipped on my second order. “B naman. It’s so traffic. Nag-taxi lang ako.” I shrugged. Whatever, Aye. She whined about how hot the weather is, how she thinks her armpits were sweating, and how she wants to order a very cold drink. She’s cute. Why is she so cute? I hate cute like her, I want to keep them. Kakagigil. “Excited na ako sa bago nating titirhan. Basta, a! Wala nang atrasan ‘to.” Ani Ayessa. “Duh! She’s always worried about her existence there.” Anito. Tama nga naman. It’s been ages. I’m sure they are trying but to no avail? I don’t know. Iñigo V invited me for movie and dinner. I don’t mind. Dumating siya exactly five in the afternoon. “Hey...” Ngumiti ako sa kaniya. Magaling talagang pumorma itong si Iñigo. Since Year 7 pa kami. Burberry, Balenciaga, Off-White and all other expensive brands ang sinusuot niya. Tonight, he’s wearing a Gucci shirt. Sinisigaw niya talaga na mayaman siya. Look at the Balenciaga shoes and his pants. Bili ko pa ‘to sa Japan last year. I’m not really high-maintenance but I make sure that I look good, clean and presentable. “Let’s go?” “Want to dine first? We still have an hour.” Pag-aaya niya. “Ayaw kong manood na busog. After the movie na lang. Let’s just buy popcorn and drinks.” Sagot ko. He agreed. What we did in the movie was the thing I have always predicted. MOMOL was too much. People were looking at us. They should be thankful for a free-view of our MOMOL. They got extra from the movie they really paid for. After the movie that we never watched, In and I went for a dinner around Taguig. From QC, we really drove to BGC to eat. That’s not going to happen boy. For the sake of old friendship, okay naman siyang kasama. He’s not that bad but it doesn’t mean I can extend our relationship for another week. “My kiss?” He demanded. I’m tired. Why is he so addicted to kisses? Wala yatang lugar na pinagbigyan niya. Humahalik lang siya na walang dahilan. May dahilan ba dapat, B? He kisses you everywhere. Just let him be aroused. I almost rolled my eyes. Whatever, Blanca. You want kisses too. Why not? He unbuckled his seat belt. He advanced to me and his lips landed to mine. Mariin niya akong hinalikan. Like he’s always hungry for one more. I eventually parted my lips to give him access. I kiss him back. He slowly inserted his tongue. Pinulupot ko ang braso sa kaniyang leeg giving him more access to my body. He sucked my tongue then my lips, savoring every area of my mouth. Ngumisi ako, he’s damn good. As if he’s assisting my body to move forward to him. I let him. The kisses were going torrid and very wild. He was never getting enough. He suddenly left my mouth and hungrily went down to my jaw and frustratingly to my neck. Masakit na ba, Inigo? You want to go all in? He’s getting angry but he couldn’t let it out. He went back to my lips and that’s when I knew it’s already enough. Mamamaga na ang labi ko. Give me a break Inigo. “We should stop. Baka makita tayo ng parents ko. Ayaw mo naman sigurong ikasal tayo bigla. My parents are very old style.” I lied. They don’t care at all. “Damn! You’re freaking hot, baby.” Lasing na lasing niyang utas. “G-” my voice croaked. I immediately cleared my throat and smile. “Good night Inigo.” Inayos ko ang suot ko. I opened the door and immediately went out. I heard him scream the three words but I didn’t look back. because I’m sleepy already. I’m done with him tonight. Pumasok ako ng bahay. Our yaya doesn’t go to bed until I get home. “Good night yaya.” Sabi ko at dumiretso na sa taas. I was just calmly walking going to my room. I am actually tired. We’re probably already checked in to a hotel, kaya lang hindi. I have to keep my sanity before Inigo can take advantage of me. You will never score Inigo. Count on your last days with me. I will leave you a very deep wound. You will be a wounded soldier, without a war,. I want to have a good bath and dress up to bed. “Old habit doesn’t die hard huh?” God! Here we go again. He’s pissing me off all the time. Who goes home at this hour? Babae ka pa naman—” “Someone like me can go home at this hour. I am fully responsible of my own action.” Putol ko sa kaniya. “Responsible.” He just sound mocking. “You think kissing some other guy is responsible?” He hissed. He advanced to me. Some other guy? Goodness, boyfriend ko ‘yon! What’s his point? “Who are you to tell me what responsibility is, huh?” I’m fully aware of what I’m doing. I’m fully responsible of my own action. He just used me to stay alive. Mag gamitan sila! Doon naman sila magaling! “You’re not getting younger Blanca. Stop playing with boys. Walang sumiseryoso sa ‘yo!” Nahulog ang panga ko sa sinabi niya. I’ve never been insulted in my whole life. “Who the f**k are you to tell me what to do? Walang say sina mommy at daddy sa akin—” “Because you’ve gone wild and they don’t know how to tame you.” How dare he treat me like an animal who’ve gone wild and couldn’t be tamed? Sino ba sa siya sa tingin niya? Get this thing straight Blanca Nemesis. He can’t just say these to me and act like he knows me from head to toe. If my parents can’t tame me, so does he. You are nobody in this house. You don’t have a say on what I do and what should I do So what if they don’t take me seriously? You have no say on what boys think of me! “You are nothing but a mere boarder here in my house. You have no say on anything or everything that I do.” He’s getting on my nerves. I think my glucose level is dropping while my high blood pressure is rising. He thinks he’s that successful? Cause he’s now a lawyer and I’m just a starting college student? H’wag niya akong mamaliitin! “Yes, I don’t have a say, probably I actually don’t really care but I just don’t want you to disgrace your parents. Nagtatrabaho sila nang—” “You don’t have a say and care but you’re saying something about disgrace and—” “You should stop acting like a child and a brat. You’re an adult now,” madilim niyang sabi. He never changed ever since. I crossed my arms, cooly smiled, and raised my eyebrow. Hindi ako masisindak sa mga pagmamaliit mo. “What will you do, Kuya Levi?” Diniin ko pa ang pagkakasabi ng ‘kuya’. What will you do? He suddenly took a step forward. Given the already small space from where I am standing, halos magkadikit na kami. When my defense mechanism started to kick in that he was too close, I stepped back. He was too proud and confident. “Magpapanggap ka ulit na bakla? Ha?” Mabilisan kong bawi sa pagkakagulat. Natigilan siya. That’s when I knew I got him. What do you want from me, Leviticus Juan Reynolds? I smirked. “Those days were over, kuya Levi. I’m not the kid that you used to trick. Go away, asshole!” I walked out with a smug smile on my face. He was stunned.
