Chapter 55 Date With A Witch *** *** Kingston “Mate!” Dynamite whimpered in my head at the sight of Agatha’s dark beauty waiting at the restaurant entrance. “Our gorgeous and magical mate!” She was propped against the restaurant window in a knee-length grey dress. On her feet, she wore shiny black biker boots. Her style was as individual as she was. “Our mate!” Dynamite sang, prancing about my head. She peered up from her black fingernails as I approached. “You said six ... it’s now two minutes past ... Punctuation is not your forte.” “I’m so sorry, Agatha. Joseph was having a tough time. I wanted to get away sooner.” I pulled out a bunch of black roses from behind my back. In the very short time I had known her, I understood she loved all things black. I had travelled out of town to get them after dealing with Joseph’s breakdown. “These are for you...” “I didn’t think they were for the restaurant staff…” Her slender fingers grabbed the bouquet. A tiny smirk escaped the corner of her lips. My heart raced. Wow, she’s so beautiful when she smiles. “Did you know different roses have different meanings?” She asked, blinking back at me. She ran her fingers over the petals, teasing them with her nails. “No,” I shook my head, my heart thumping excitedly. “I honestly didn’t.” Her smirk lingered as she sniffed them. “Black roses have two different meanings... One of which is death and mourning–” The hairs on the back of my neck prickled. Dynamite whimpered, laying on his stomach with his ears pressed against his head. “Have we insulted her?” “I hope not.” I swallowed as my heart trembled. “That’s the last thing I wanted to do!” “However,” she continued, “They also mean new beginnings and new relationships—starting over…” Now Dynamite stood. He tilted his head to one side. “Did we do good?” “I think so...” “Thank you,” Agatha offered her arm. “Anything for you…” The second my arm touched hers, a static passed between us in a wave of pure ecstasy that drove all my senses crazy. A vision of her pushed up against the wall as I passionately made love to her. My manhood stiffened, pressing uncomfortably against my pants. I saw my lips against her skin, inhaling her alluring scent of white sage, my teeth against her neck as I claimed her. “Mate! Mate! Mate!” A twinkle in her dark eyes made me swoon. Had my mate seen the same image in her mind as I had? It was possible. Mates shared a bond that linked them body, mind and soul. Even if she was primarily human, it was possible she could feel it—or it was wishful thinking. She smiled sideways at me, and I couldn’t bury my growing arousal. “Claim her now!” Dynamite pleaded, clawing just beneath the surface. “Shh,” I hushed him, but he refused. “Well,” she reached across and opened the door. “We’re now eight minutes late for our reservation.” “Let’s go in, shall we?” I winked at her, but those provocative images flashed in my mind. Trying to settle my manhood was not going to happen. I shifted my legs uncomfortably, attempting to hide it from view. “We have to claim our mate!” Dynamite said in a demanding tone. He was becoming irrational, and I didn’t blame him. The walk through the restaurant was one I knew many recently mated werewolves knew all too well. And hiding it was not impossible, but it was uncomfortable. The second we reached the table, I slipped into the booth and breathed a sigh of relief. The table was elegantly placed against the large window, the evening light shimmering through Agatha’s midnight hair. I swallowed, unable to look away. “Are you going to order or stare at me the entire time?” She asked, picking up the laminated menu. “Stare...” I replied honestly. “I could stare at you all night and never get bored.” I leaned my elbow against the table and propped my chin in my hand. “But there are other things I would prefer to do with you...” With a grin, she flicked her hand, knocking my arm from under my chin with a wave of invisible force, making me slip and miss the table. “Order first... then we can discuss it.” “Magical mate...” Dynamite growled excitedly, his entire body shivering. “Yeah... of course.” I cleared my throat. My heart echoed in my ears as I picked up the menu. But I couldn’t focus—I was continually peering around to see her. I could envision my hands against her slender body, feeling the supple softness of her pale skin as I removed her dress inch by inch, savouring every second. “We’ll never get to eat at this rate.” She met my gaze, and I saw her divine lips curl into a smile. Had she read my thoughts? It was getting harder to ignore the mate pull—and I didn’t want to. It would be difficult for us if she didn’t feel it back, and I would need to find a way to win her over, even if it took months or years. But I didn’t care. I was going to win over my mate one way or another. “You know,” she returned to the menu, her black-painted nails tapping against the menu. “I don’t see many vegetarian meals on here.” “Wait,” I dropped the menu to see her do the same. “Your vegetarian?” She raised an eyebrow. “I am. Does that change anything?” Was she smirking again? I shook my head. “Not at all. I love learning about you.” “You know,” she continued. “I might be vegetarian, but I know you’re not. I don’t think I have ever met a non-meat-eating wolf.” “If it means I have to become one for you, I will,” I said those words before I thought them and realised Dynamite had added his own words to the conversation. Grinning, she shook her head. “I would never ask that of anyone. It’s my personal choice! No one else’s.” A young waiter appeared at our table. He had to be no older than seventeen, with slicked-back black hair. “Did I overhear you are searching for our best vegetarian meal?” The curse of wolf hearing. He turned to Agatha. “Our popular vegetarian lasagne is to die for.” She thought for a moment, pouting her lips. Dynamite and I fought against the primal urge to claim her across the table. We didn’t care who was watching. “That sounds great...” “And you?” He turned to me, and I had to pull my eyes away from Agatha. “I’ll have the pulled duck on a bed of roast vegetables.” “Lovely choice. I will return soon with your order.” He spun on his heels and headed for the kitchen. “After dinner, would you like to walk by the river?” I asked Agatha with a hopeful twinkle in my eyes. I needed to spend alone time with her. “It’s the perfect night for it…” She folded her hands on the table before her, tapping her long nails against her writs. “Will you be in wolf form or human form?” All my senses were whirling. Did she want me as much as I wanted her? I leaned in closer to her. She did the same. “What do you prefer?” Her smirk widened. “I prefer the human side… but your wolf is one of the most interesting I have ever seen.” “You’ll give Dynamite a big head.” I laughed. And a big something else at this point. “Mate!” Dynamite ran in excited circles through my brain. Usually, it would cause a headache, but it made my thoughts more intense. He attempted to push closer to the surface, but I held him back with incredible difficulty. “Then I would like to go for that walk…” She reached over and traced a fingernail down my arm. “But you do realise I am a hundred and fifty years old. Does that change anything?” “Not a thing…” Dynamite and I didn’t care about age, look, lifestyle, or anything else. Our mate was our mate and worth every second of our lives. “Your age doesn’t bother us… Our bond is stronger than that… stronger than anything around.” She grinned. “Is that so?” “We could always skip dinner…” I insisted, with every inch of me craving more from her. Suddenly, Dynamite’s eyes took over mine. I felt the change before I could control it. The amber hue of lust in his eyes reflected in the black of hers. “Woah,” Agatha gasped and sat back in her seat. She pressed her hand to her quivering chest. “What’s wrong?” I eyed her cautiously. Was she pretending, or was her thrilled reaction genuine? The next thing I knew, she reached across the table, pressing her lips to mine. I ran my hands up her slender neck and through her hair. She groaned in a way that made my legs jelly. “After dinner, I will show you what those eyes have done to me…” She purred. “And …” “And?” I growled between kisses. “I’ve been around a long time…” She sat back, her chest still quivering. Her scent of pure arousal reached my nose. “I have a lot to show you…”
