The Midnight Wolf

I'm feeling a little envious of my best friends right now. Growing up, we made an agreement that the three of us would find our mates together. Well I guess the fates don't like me that much. Alpha Max found his Luna Cara when we went out one night, then Victor found Sasha when he was sent out to another pack. I tried to hide how I felt when I was around them, but I had a feeling that Max knew something was going on with me. After all, the three of us grew up together, and he made me beta when he took over the pack. I knew there was coming a day when Max would approach me about it. I heard him come into the pack house while I was in the kitchen having my breakfast. Everyone else was outside going about their day. "Yo Jax, what's going on with you man? You've been looking down whenever Cara and Sasha are around? What's up with that?" Max asked when he came and sat beside me. I sighed, knowing I had to tell him now or he wouldn't stop bugging me about it. "I've just been feeling left out. You know how we made the agreement when we were kids about finding our mates together? Well, you guys both found your mates and I'm still here wondering when I'm gonna find mine." "Man don't beat yourself up over it. You'll find her soon enough. The fates wouldn't be so cruel as to not give you a mate." "I just want to know when I'm gonna find her man. I've been waiting so long and I just want to hold her in my arms. My wolf is getting restless without her and I don't know how long I can control him for." "If you need to talk about it at any time, you know I'm here. I can understand how you feel brother. I felt like I was going crazy before I found Cara. You'll find her soon, just hang in there." "Thanks man. Now don't you have things to do other than listen to me whine?" We both laughed at my attempt to lighten the mood. He slapped me on the back and headed out to do his alpha duties.
