"Starting today, I am Romina’s newly assigned guardian. Your duty as her guardian ended today, Luciel.”
“What?” Luciel asked, creasing his brows.
“W-What?” Romina immediately looked at Luciel then back to Elijah. “What are you saying?”
Elijah smiled at her. “I am your new, permanent guardian that got assigned to you, Romina.”
“Permanent… guardian.”
“Don’t f**k with me,” Luciel told him. “No one sent me a message about this one. No one definitely notified me about this one.”
“Michael was about to summon you to tell you that your term as Romina’s guardian already ended, Luciel. But, Jophiel decided that I should be the one to tell you personally for Romina to meet me in flesh as well. Jophiel also told me that once I already told you about this one, we can go to the archangels for the confirmation.”
Romina saw how Luciel looked at Elijah in silence. He looked away at the angel, closed his eyes as he took few deep breaths and nodded. “Okay.”
“Luciel,” she immediately held Luciel’s arm when he was about to walk towards Elijah. The demon looked at her and saw her confused, worried face. “Lu-Luciel, where are you going?”
Luciel stared at her for a second or two and he smiled. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
After patting her head, Luciel transformed into his demon form and he looked back at Romina and smiled then he flew together with Elijah.
Romina was silently staring at her window as she hugged her knees together. It’s already ten in the evening and Luciel is not coming back yet. She couldn’t even eat her dinner because of anxiousness. She stood up and started to pace back and forth while looking at the window, anticipating Luciel’s arrival.
“Luciel’s my temporary guardian? No way…” Romina muttered. “He’s always been my guardian, right? There’s no way he’s my temporary guardian…”
“Is that how you show your gratitude towards your savior, huh, Romina Cristi?” the Demon smirked at her.
“What are you doing here?! Ho-How did you enter my room?! How did you follow me?!” Romina asked, hysterically. “Oh my gosh, please don’t kill me I’m begging you! Have mercy!!!”
The demon flew down to her bed and plopped himself on her fluffy sheets. “Uh, technically, I’m your guardian. I was assigned to guard you.”
“No way…” she trailed off. “You’re a demon…”
The demon’s left brow quirked up. “And…?”
“Guardians are angels! You’re a demon! I don’t believe you! You’re lying!” the demon rolled his eyes and stared at Romina who was about to throw a tantrum.
“I won’t deny the fact that lying is part of my nature since I’m a demon. But listen here, midget. I ain’t lying here. I was assigned to be your guardian by God the Father himself. You see, the angels were outnumbered as of now because of the celestial war that happened a few centuries ago…”
“…and since some souls were actually in training and test to become angels which will take—about years to complete—so they are not yet qualified to be angels and guard humans and because of that, angels can’t actually cope up with the rapid growth of human’s population so the God the father himself asked the King of the underworld to sent some of his fallen angels to guard the humans which include,” his sharp, black claws pointed himself. “Me.”
“Hey there, midget. Your guardian evil at your service!”
Romina couldn’t help but chuckle the moment she remembered her first meeting with Luciel being her temporary guardian. It was so funny that they’re actually acting like cats and dogs the moment they saw each other to the point that they almost rejected each other’s presence. It was actually embarrassing that they’re acting like kids quarreling in front of Gabriel who, fortunately, was being understanding to the both of them at that moment. But who would thought that Romina will get fond of her temporary guardian?
As of now… that moment he said ‘as of now.’
Her smile suddenly faded the moment she remembered her conversation with Archangel Gabriel.
Right… he did tell me about Luciel being my temporary guardian.
But why… why we had this kind of setup when we already got used to each other?
She felt a cold breeze on her window and she felt and knew the presence who just entered her window. She immediately turned her head at Luciel who’s now sitting on her window in his demon form.
“Hey,” he greeted her.
Romina stared at him. In all honesty, she didn’t really felt terrified if she’ll see Luciel in his demon form. She finds his black wings wonderful as its feathers shine especially went it was directed by the moon’s light. She finds it really cool.
But right now, even though Luciel’s wings were shining because of the full moon’s light, it felt cold.
“Lu-Luciel!” she immediately ran towards him and stopped in front of him. “Bakit ngayon ka lang? Where… where did you go? What took you so long?”
“It’s not important anymore,” Luciel slightly shook his head as he responded to her. Then, with a smile, he spoke again.
What?
"Wha... what did you just say?" Romina asked him, shocked to hear those words from him.
Is this some kind of a joke? There's no way... he's teasing me. I know. He loves to tease me. He really does. I won't believe him. He will definitely make fun of me if I believe him.
"You've got to be kidding me."
Luciel looked at her, meeting her gaze. Then and there, he said. "I came to say that this will be my last day of being your guardian, Romina Cristi."
