How bizarre.
As soon as both Romina and Luciel finally managed to sneak out with Delia to look slightly around the village, Luciel could tell how soulless the entire village was. Aside from the people looked so lifeless even though they’re legit alive and moving.
They looked like…
“Ka Dionisio!”
The three of them turned at the pastor who’s now smiling at the villagers around them and from their lifeless expression, they looked so energetic the moment the pastor came to check up on them and greeted them.
Ah, I was right, indeed.
“How’s the farm so far, Enrique?”
“It’s been good, Ka Dionisio. Thank you so much for the help. Ang dami naming na-ani sa taon na ito.”
“That’s good to hear then. What about the animals in the barn?”
“They’re also growing and eating well, Ka Dionisio.”
“How old is that Ka Dionisio pastor of yours?” Romina asked Delia, whispering so they could only hear each other.
“He’s been here 32 years ago and they said that he arrived here since he was 45 years old so I think he’s around 77,” Delia responded. “The fact that he’s at that age and he still looked like the time he arrived here in the village just as what my mother told me… as if he didn’t really age.”
“How bizarre, am I right?” Delia and Romina looked at Luciel who looked intently at the pastor before looking at the two of them. He just patted Romina’s head and he immediately felt how the pastor glared at him. He, then, gently pulled Romina closer to him.
“What are you doing?” Romina asked, slightly frowning.
“Count one to three,” Luciel responded.
“Uh,” albeit she’s confused, Romina still followed Luciel. “One… two… three.”
“The two visitors,” Romina’s head immediately turned at Ka Dionisio who’s now approaching the three of them with a smile on his face. Luciel, on the other hand, slightly raised his head up before looking at Ka Dionisio who’s now smiling at him as well.
He couldn’t help but mentally snort inside his head. This two-faced fake priest. This is so amusing.
“You’re out on a stroll around the village?” Ka Dionisio asked, obviously looking intently at Romina in which the latter couldn’t help but felt goosebumps on her nape. Good thing that Luciel was just right behind her so she’s not that worried. The pastor slightly looked at Delia who flinched when the attention went at her. “Delia?”
“Yes, Ka Dionisio. I asked them to walk with me around the village since they’re my visitors.”
“Our visitors, Delia,” Ka Dionisio chuckled as he corrected the 17-year-old kid. “We seldom got visitors in this village so we consider them as our visitors as well,” then he looked back at Luciel and Romina—but Luciel could tell that the pastor’s attention was on Romina. “Would you like to stroll around the village more? I could show you around.”
“Uh, about that…”
“Ah, we’re done today—” Ka Dionisio gave Delia a look so the kid went silent and bowed her head.
“I personally want to show you around so let’s go? Romina…” the pastor said.
“Delia was right, pastor. We’re actually done strolling around so thank you so much for the offer,” Romina said, smiling at him in which she was praying that it was not obviously awkward.
They heard the villagers murmuring around them, obviously gossiping about how they managed to turn down the pastor. Romina was internally whining because, obviously, she didn’t want any attention at all.
“I said, I’m going to show you around so don’t defy me and follow me,” the pastor said firmly, in a serious voice and stared at Romina intently. Romina stared back at him for a couple of seconds and saw how his eyes went snake-like but she just assumed that she was just imagining things so she didn’t say anything about it.
With three blinks, she responded. “It’s okay, pastor. You don’t have to worry much and you don’t have to tire yourself out. Delia did a good job of letting us stroll around the village. We do appreciate your kindness but we need to head back. Thank you so much, pastor,” with that, she bowed her head and turned her back on him with Luciel’s arm on her shoulder. With Delia, they walked back.
Before the pastor could even say a word again, Luciel secretly glared at the former with his deep crimson red eyes in which the pastor immediately stopped in his tracks and looked so shocked at the male visitor. He just let them leave after that.
“Ka Dionisio, are you okay?”
Panting, Ka Dionisio said. “That kid.”
“That kid will bring disaster to our village.”
Romina was twirling in front of the mirror while holding the skirt of the white dress Delia lent her since her clothes were a mess last night so the latter lend her a dress after she took a bath. The dress was actually cute from Romina’s perspective. She looked like a princess who just woke up to talk to the animals and stuff, like Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. “Your clothes are simple yet pretty, Delia.”
“Thank you. I made them myself.”
“Really? Wow, that’s so nice!”
“Hah, if only we have other available colors except for white then I’m already able to make that dress into other colors but the stores in this village only offer white cloths so I don’t have a choice,” Delia said as she put the two cups of coffee on the mini table just beside Romina’s temporary bed. “By the way, I’m so sorry about earlier. The pastor seemed that he took a liking of the two of you so he’s being so persistent to accompany the two of you.”
“Nah, it’s okay. We could actually handle situations like that so it’s okay,” Romina responded, smiling at them.
But not gonna lie, the pastor was legit acting so freaky creepy earlier.
Luciel slightly looked at Romina.
Right. If I haven’t given her my seal last night, she was already hypnotized by that two-faced pastor.
That pastor was indeed using hypnosis to all the people here in the village of no name, even on Delia’s mother.
His eyes slightly gleamed when he saw that the seal that he secretly put on Romina’s cheek slightly glowed before it vanished deep in Romina’s skin. I put some of my powers that I could still use in this village to make the seal so no one could touch or hypnotize her. Just to make sure that whatever will happen to us, Romina was still protected, with or without me.
But still… something doesn’t really add up here. Something felt not right in here.
“It’s a bit cold in this village so you should have a cup of coffee to warm yourselves up. You’re not used to the weather in this village,” Delia offered to them.
“Right. Now that you’ve mentioned it,” Romina took the one cup and started to sip the coffee. "Thank you so much, Delia.”
“Ah~ don’t mention it.”
Luciel was silently staring at the two of them as he took the other cup and sipped the coffee. He suddenly frowned.
I tasted blood—
With that, he saw Romina drop the cup and fainted on the bed. He abruptly threw his cup as well and held Romina. “Romina! Romina!”
He immediately glared at Delia and stood up to harshly hold her arm. “You—I knew it—”
What the actual f**k—
He frowned when he saw how his vision blurred and he felt his legs collapse, kneeling in front of Delia. He couldn’t even use his powers to heal himself from poisoning. He could move anymore because he felt weak. “D-Damn you.”
“I’m sorry, Luciel.”
That’s the only thing Luciel heard before he passed out.
Delia was on the verge of crying for what she did to them but she forced herself not to the moment she felt two strong hands holding her shoulder. Then, she felt the pastor’s breath on her ear.
“Good job, Delia. Good job. Now, let’s do the main thing now, shall we?”
