CHAPTER 76: The Awakening

1934 Words
LUCIEL GRUNTED WHEN HE FINALLY FELT HIMSELF REGAINING CONSCIOUSNESS. The moment he wakes up, he felt himself getting chained up while kneeling. It was really easy for him to just break the chain and free himself but before he could do so, he kept on wincing in pain and he realized he’s inside a certain seal. “What the f**k—?” he tried to break free once again but he couldn’t. “I am inside a f*****g devil’s trap!” (*Devil’s trap is a kind of seal to trap demons inside before exorcising them) “Oh, it’s awake.” Luciel looked at the pastor who he remembered the name as Ka Dionisio who’s now wearing his all-white clothing. He realized that the villagers were there, wearing all white and in veil. There, he saw Romina lying on the table with her hands tied in white clothing and holding white roses. “Romina—ack!” Luciel winced once again when he tried to stand but the seal beneath him kept on pushing him down. “Romina! What did you do to Romina?!” “What did you do to Romina, you demon?” Ka Dionisio asked him. “You vicious being. How dare you cruelly clung yourself on such an innocent young girl?” Luciel scoffed a laugh. “I don’t know if you’re talking about me, or to yourself, pastor.” Ka Dionisio’s eyes widen. “Insolence!” Luciel’s eyes settled on Romina once again and shouted. “Romina! Wake up! Wake the f**k up, Romina!” It seemed like Romina heard him that she slowly opened her eyes and when she saw that she’s beneath the balete, she immediately looked around and trying to free herself from the ties around her body. “Let me go! Let me go—Luciel!” “Romina!” she slightly raised half of her body so she could see Luciel who’s also tied up on chains. He’s in a lot worst state than she did because the latter seemed so wounded because he’s trying to break free from the seal. With a smile on his face, Luciel spoke. “Glad you’re okay.” Romina immediately tried to break free from the ties. “Ugh! Let me go! Let me go! Luciel, are you okay?!” Ka Dionisio approached her and immediately put his hand on her head. “My child, relax. You’re safe now. We already seized the demon so you don’t have to worry now.” “You pastor—” “Don’t touch me,” with a serious tone, Romina told the pastor, glaring at him. “Nobody is safe here from you either so don’t touch me.” Ka Dionisio retreated his hand. “This is serious,” he, then, faced the villagers. “This young girl has been possessed by this demon. It’s our job to cleanse the body and soul of this young girl and give her the new life she deserved with the help of our mighty Maupet.” Humming in a very eerie tone, Ka Dionisio spread his hands as the villagers started to chant. “Sa ilalim ng iyong banal na puno kami ay nag-aalay Kulay puti simbolo ng kapurihan at iyong ka-banalan Sa iyong kapurihan, kami ay dinggin Mahal naming Maupet, pakinggan mo kami.” “Tonight, we are offering you this young girl as we wanted you to cleanse her body and soul and take her to your path of purity and truth,” Ka Dionisio said as he raised his dagger and pointed it on Romina who’s now trying to free herself from the ties. “We are offering this young girl, Maupet, and take her to your path of purity and truth!” “No!” “DON’T YOU f*****g TOUCH HER!” Ka Dionisio abruptly stopped when he and the villagers felt the ground rumbling. They immediately turned their heads at Luciel who’s now slowly trying to transform into his demon form. “No…” Romina muttered. This is not just his demon form. She saw how Luciel’s skin transformed into a reddish one and his wings started to pop up, but his wings are not wings that she usually sees. These wings looked like the ones from bats and his fangs started to grow huge as well as his horns. He looked so terrifying that Romina could feel her tears rolling down her cheeks while looking at him. “Romina…” with his terrifying, deep and hoarse voice, he called her but Romina closed her eyes tight and looked away. Before Luciel could fully transform, he felt a strong electrifying sensation around him and that made him abruptly go back to normal and cough blood. Shit. The seal. I can’t f*****g get myself out of here. He looked at Romina once again who still looking away from him and somehow, her expression gave him a piercing sensation inside his chest. I scared her. I f*****g scared her. Before he could even call her, he felt a piercing sensation on his side and there, he saw that one of the villagers pierced his side for him to stop moving. “How dare you interrupt our cleansing ceremony, you demon?” Ka Dionisio said, obviously mad at what Luciel did. Coughing, Luciel spoke. “Cleansing ceremony? More like you’re trying to murder someone for a blood sacrifice.” “Insolence!” Luciel winced once again when the stab on his side went deeper and he glared at the human who kept on stabbing him with a spear to the pastor. “f**k you. Let Romina go, you motherfucker!” Ka Dionisio sneered at him and when he saw Romina went unconscious once again, he continued the cult ceremony. Totally ignoring Luciel who kept on calling Romina’s name. Bowing his head in defeat, Luciel squeezed his eyes shut. “I am not afraid of everything because you’re here with me, Luciel.” “You’re being too dependent on me, Romina.” “Because you’re my guardian, after all.” Fuck it. I f*****g failed. I f*****g failed as her guardian! I can’t f*****g protect her! I am so f*****g useless! I am doing the same mistake over and over again! “Tonight, we are offering you this young girl as we wanted you to cleanse her body and soul and take her to your path of purity and truth,” Ka Dionisio said as he raised his dagger once again and pointed it on Romina who’s now trying to free herself from the ties. “We are offering this young girl, Maupet, and take her to your path of purity and truth!” The light from the balete slowly went out of the trunk and slowly went on Romina. Ka Dionisio was about to stab Romina with the dagger when suddenly, Romina lit up and the light from the balete suddenly sliced into half and from white, it became reddish-black which made the villagers’ eyes widen in utter shock and fear. Before Ka Dionisio could say anything, he was pushed to the side with the same seal as Luciel beneath him. “What—what is this?!” he shouted as he tried to stand up but he couldn’t. Luciel was watching him in utter confusion then the former’s eyes went on Romina who miraculously freed herself from the ties. His eyes widen in utter surprise when he saw how Romina’s eyes, as soon as she opened her eyes, were in faint blue and her hair had a yellow shade on it, like blonde highlights. “Romina…” he muttered. “Why you—” the pastor muttered angrily. Romina raised her hand and suddenly, a ball of light started to grow bigger on her hand and when she grabbed it, she wielded it into a sword and pointed it at the pastor. “That sword…” Luciel muttered under his breath. “That sword is awfully familiar.” “Do you like that sword so much, Serenity?” “Yes. For me, this is the most powerful weapon that I have! This was blessed by the Father himself, you know? Since we won from the swordsmith contest with the Archangels. Even Michael praised this sword. I built this with the help of Luciel. We built this so of course, this is precious to me.” “What should you name it?” “I’ll name it…” “Come forth, Ägidius.” I finally remembered. “That sword… is Serenity’s sword.” “The insolence and audacity of what you did here are awful and cruel, you demon,” with authority, Romina told the pastor as she pointed the sword at him. “Messing things up in this realm and deceiving humans into doing something like this, into doing a blood sacrifice that is beyond the contract you did from the underworld.” “What are you—” “Reveal yourself. Reveal your true form, demon.” As if it’s a cue, the pastor transformed himself into a huge, terrifying monster in front of them, making the villagers scream and ran away from the place. “How dare you!” the monster shrieked at Romina. Romina just smirked at looked at the monster. “So this is your true form, Maupet. You indeed got us, you definitely fooled the humans into thinking that the Maupet they’re brainwashed to worship is that illusion of yours that you made inside the balete when you’re the real one. But no, you can’t really outsmart the one who’s obviously stronger than you. A stronger Celestial being.” “HOW DARE YOU!” the Maupet was about to attack her but Romina was swift enough that she managed to cut the Maupet’s arm, making it shriek in so much pain. Celestial weapons are deadly for demons like him. Romina’s eyes went on Delia who just knocked the villager who stabbed Luciel using a huge rock but since she didn’t know how to unable the seal so she just kept on reading the book that one of the villagers owned and disregarded because of the commotion. “Delia,” Romina called her. When the demon was about to attack her, she immediately threw golden chains from her hand and tied the demon monster up. “Y-Yes!” Delia responded, totally ignoring the veil that slipped from her and totally dropping it. “I won’t hold this demon for so long and so my form in this girl’s body is limited as well so hurry and go to the balete’s trunk. There, you’ll see the soul of your aunt being tied up,” Romina immediately threw a dagger on the ground just in front of Delia. “That can cut the chains that tied your aunt that was made by this demon. Use that and set her free. Hurry!” “Y-Yes!” albeit trembling, Delia picked up the dagger and immediately ran towards the trunk and saw the soul of her aunt being tied and sleeping inside the balete’s trunk. “How dare you, you angel! I will definitely kill you!” the demon shrieked as he kept on thrashing around with the golden chains wrapped around him. Romina slowly turned her head at Luciel who’s now looking at her in utter shock. She looked sad the moment she saw how he had so many wounds on his body. But even so, she managed to smile at him and spoke. “I’ll protect you this time, Luciel. I won’t let anyone hurt you this time.”
