CHAPTER 53: Thank You for Waiting

1392 Words
“Did you really say that? Exorcise that apparition? But why? It’s not like she’s harming anyone or something. I said she’s a hard-head yes but she never harmed anyone.” “You knew how apparitions work in this realm, right? The more rumors people make about them, the longer their function in this world. Maria Leonora failed to do so. She failed to maintain herself as an apparition which will make her fall into an evil spirit that needs to get exorcised. I came here to convince her to go to the afterlife before the reapers will come and exorcise her,” Simeon told him. “Isn’t it a bit too much?” Luciel asked which made Simeon caught off guard. “It’s already ten years, Luciel. She might end up being a poltergeist and ended up as an evil spirit that needs to be exorcised.” “But she hasn’t…” Luciel suddenly looked up the window where Romina’s room was located. “Romina! Damn it!” “Wait—what’s happening Luciel?” Luciel immediately transformed into his demon form and flew towards somewhere. Simeon shook his head and immediately transformed into his angel form and followed Luciel. “What’s happening, Luciel?!” Simeon asked him as they flew faster to a certain place. “Romina. Romina is going to that place.” Maria Leonora was silently looking at the moon when her gaze sharpened and immediately turned her head and saw Romina standing behind her. With a glare, Maria Leonora asked her. “What are you doing here?! I told you don’t come here again or else I’ll use force!” “Romina!” Luciel immediately called her the moment he arrived with Simeon. He was about to run towards Romina but Simeon stopped him. “What?! Let go—” “Wait, that’s not her,” Simeon told him. Luciel’s eyes settled back on Romina and his eyes turned into much crimson red, as if he was trying to get inside her soul. He paused the moment he realized what Simeon is talking about. “Wait, that’s…” “I told you to go away! Leave this house at once—” “Ina…” Romina muttered but in a different voice. Maria Leonora’s expression changed the moment she heard the familiar voice on Romina. “You… could it be…” “Ina… it’s me…” Romina’s eyes pooled to tears as she spoke. “It’s me, Alyanna. I’m already ten years old, Ina.” “Alyanna…” Maria Leonora called her. She gasped as her tears started to roll down her pale cheeks. “Is that really you?” “Yes…” with tears in her eyes, Alyanna spoke. “Yes, it’s me, Ina. I’m sorry for making you upset like that. Did I make you wait for so long?” “No… not at all,” Maria Leonora shook her head. “Not at all.” “I’m sorry for breaking my promise, Ina,” she said. “I tried my best to come back to you but I failed.” “Why did you leave…?” Maria Leonora asked. “Why didn’t you come back?” “When I told you that the whole family will go on a vacation for five days… that was a lie, Ina,” Alyanna’s tears rolled down her cheeks once again as she spoke. “We’re not really going on a vacation. My mom and dad said that my illness became much worst so we need to fly to America to get treatment and so I did. They said that it will not take too long but five days became weeks and weeks became months. The pain that I felt during those treatments is unbearable for my young, fragile body but I still tried to fight. I tried to fight for my life because I know you were waiting for me to come back home but as days and months passed by as I tried to fight my illness, my body couldn’t take the pain and agony anymore that my body gave up… and I died nine months after.” More tears from Maria Leonora’s eyes started to pour down her cheeks. She couldn’t believe that sweet Alyann went through all those hardships that hearing those all just aches her heart. “You went through all those hardships… my baby… I’m so sorry.” “Ina…” Alyanna called her. “I finally… I finally able to see and touch you.” With that, Maria Leonora burst into tears and opened her arms wide for Alyanna. The ten-year-old girl immediately went out of Romina’s body and ran towards Maria Leonora and hugged her as tight as she could. Luciel managed to catch Romina who still felt dizzy when Alyanna asked to let her in her body so she could talk to Maria Leonora. As soon as she saw Maria Leonora and Alyanna hug each other, she smiled. “We…” Romina muttered. “We finally reunited them.” Luciel nodded. “Yeah.” “Thank you…” Alyanna hugged Maria Leonora tight as she spoke. “Thank you for waiting for me, Ina.” “Nais kong maulit ang awit ni inang mahal Awit ng pag-ibig habang ako'y nasa duyan~” Romina couldn’t help but smile as she walked side by side with Simeon and Luciel. After Maria Leonora and Alyanna reunited, the young girl went back to the afterlife with an angel who’s also a good friend of Simeon accompanying her. As for Maria Leonora, since she’s a famous ‘motherly spirit’ according to the rumors, she still has her duty as a motherly apparition and left the abandoned house, looking for some kids to guard and guide until they grow up. After all, she’s a motherly soul who wanted to accomplish what a mother does. Of course, she wasn’t exorcised since she was proven as not an evil spirit. Someday, maybe someday, she’ll have her own ‘mission accomplished’ and she’ll be able to pass to the afterlife. “You’re indeed extraordinary, Romina,” Simeon couldn’t help but praise her. “You were able to help lost spirits like that than we combined,” he pointed to himself and Luciel. “Hey! Watch it! She couldn’t do that without my help, you know?!” Luciel immediately spat. “Well… I’ll give half the credit to Luciel. He helped me a lot though, but 70% of his bits of help were with his nonstop complaints,” Romina said. “What’s that supposed to mean?!” the annoyed demon reacted once again. “It’s true, though!” “But I still helped though!” “I’ll give you the full credit if you stop complaining.” “I wasn’t complaining! I was trying to give you a warning!” Simeon couldn’t help but shake his head and chuckle at the two bickering beside him. He, then, stopped chuckling and spoke. “Oh! I remembered I have something important to do so I need to go back to the Celestial realm so I have to go.” “Good ‘cause seeing your face makes me more annoyed. Now go!” Luciel waved his hand towards Simeon, as if he’s brushing him away. “Stop that, Luciel. That’s not nice,” Romina tapped his hand down and faced Simeon. “Alright. Take good care of yourself, Simeon, and hang out with us next time.” Simeon chuckled and nodded. “I will, Miss Romina. I’ll take my leave.” Luciel kept on waving his hand, brushing him away as Romina kept on nodding and smiling at him. “Take care!” Simeon transformed again into his angel form and flew to the sky. Romina’s gaze followed him while waving her hand while Luciel was glaring at his figure as if he was piercing so many knives on his back. Only if it’s that possible though. “He’s really that handsome and nice,” Romina said in a dreamy tone that made Luciel turn his head on her. “Did I hear you say those words right?” Luciel immediately asked. “Wait, do you like Simeon?” Romina looked at him with an obvious expression on her face. “Yes, I do.” He was dumbfounded. “What?”
