CHAPTER 68: The Fall of Luciel

1270 Words
Luciel opened his eyes and immediately winced in the slight pain he felt on his arm. His arm… “Serenity!” he immediately sat up on his bed, panting when he felt his anger starting to build upon his system once again. It’s unusual for angels to feel an emotion, especially anger but Luciel felt it. He felt it that he couldn’t help himself but almost rip his blanket into pieces. Sachiel immediately went to him the moment the former entered their room. “Brother!” Sachiel called him. “You’re finally awake. Thank heavens. You’ve been asleep for ten days.” “Why…” Sachiel looked at him in utter confusion. “Brother?” “Why did you stop me from killing those demons?!” Luciel asked, shouted even, as he looked at his twin with his sharp gaze. “An angel bearing such wrath and killing intent…” Sachiel remembered what Michael said about Luciel the moment they managed to stop his older brother. He slightly shook his head and held his older brother’s hand. “Brother, you were severely injured that moment. We need to stop you so we won’t lose you as well.” “What about Serenity? Did you think of her?!” Luciel immediately shouted at him. “We lost her! I lost her and I won’t be able to see her again because of that war! Because of those demons! She vanished right in front of my eyes!” Luciel started to lash out on his bed while Sachiel tried to stop him. “Luciel, brother, please calm down! Please! Nobody expected what happened. Even you. You can’t blame anyone or even yourself so please, stop. Please. Stop, you’ll hurt yourself!” “Do not touch me!” Luciel, with all his might, pushed Sachiel which made him slam his twin on the door and broke it. He abruptly stopped when he saw Sachiel wincing in pain and saw his twin had a wound on his right cheek caused by him and he was about to go to his twin when he felt golden chains wrapped around him, restraining him to move. “As soon as you woke up, you start lashing out and even hurt your twin brother.” Sachiel turned his head at Michael who was now staring blankly at Luciel as the latter tried to break free from the chains. He immediately walked towards the archangel and spoke. “Archangel Michael, Luciel didn’t mean to hurt me. He never means to hurt me. Like me, he was also sad by our friend’s passing. She’s our dearest sister in our group so it’s painful for us, especially for him to accept that. Please, release him.” “I understand that all of you are in pain with Serenity’s passing. That angel is also precious to us, all of you are. But as you see, everything is fated to happen.” Fated to happen… “So, you’re telling me that Father already knew about the Celestial War?” Luciel immediately asked. Michael spoke at him. “You need to rest, Luciel. You’re not fully cured. As much as we want to reinforce you because of what you did that day that you didn’t just s*******r the demons but you also hurt your comrades, I just need you to rest and fully heal.” “You didn’t answer my question, Michael,” Luciel said. “Did Father already know about the Celestial War?! Answer me!” “Calm down, Luciel,” Jophiel interrupted. “I know you’re grieving about losing your friend but you can’t speak like that to Michael out of anger.” “He knew… and yet he still sent us to that forsaken war and almost lose our lives,” Luciel scoffed a bitter laugh. “You let her die! You let Serenity die because of that war! Father never cared about us!” Luciel was about to jump on Michael but the latter immediately stopped him. “Insolence!” one of the archangels shouted at him. “Luciel,” Michael called him. “I know where you’re coming from but I want you to calm down. “I do not need a father,” Luciel said that made Michael look at him in utter disbelief. “I do not need a father who only sits on his throne and letting his children die like that!” “Luciel!” one of the archangels yelled at him. “Do not speak ill to our Father!” “You’re just confused because of Serenity’s passing, Luciel. I understand that but please, calm down,” Michael said to him once again. “I DO NOT NEED A FATHER WHO LET HIS CHILDREN DIE LIKE THAT! I DO NOT NEED A FATHER WHO LET SERENITY DIE LIKE THAT!” He took a deep breath and closed his eyes as he felt himself falling from the skies. He opened his eyes once again and his hands tried to reach the clouds but he couldn’t. He was falling... away from the place he once called 'home' with them... with her. “Do you blame yourself?” Luciel looked at the shadow over him, lights emitting around it that he couldn’t recognize its face. He’s inside an unknown cave with a huge hole emitting light for him to see everything. He could see so many feathers around him. “Do you blame yourself?” it repeated its question. “What?” he asked. He couldn’t help but pant and wince because of the massive pain around him. Right, he remembered. As soon as Serenity died, not long after, he rebelled against the Father and the next thing he knew, he fell from grace. He became the creature he hated the most. He slowly got up and felt the massive pain in his back and head. Suddenly, something flapped behind him and grew on his head. He saw that he grew black feathers and two horns. His hair went from silver to black. Yes, he became the creature he hated the most. He became a demon. “Do you feel guilty after watching her falling with your own two eyes?” That made him pause for a second. Her face suddenly flashed in his mind. He could see her smiling. He could see her giggling. He could see how she spun so elegantly with her wings flapping gracefully. He could see how beautiful she is. He could see how b****y she was looking before his eyes. And he could see... “No...” “Luciel!” “No, stop!” Luciel immediately covered his ears, panting in so much distress. He looked so horrified. “Stop... please, stop.” “Do you feel guilty about what happened, Luciel?” “Stop. Stop talking! Stop it! Stop talking!” trembling in so much anger and sadness, Luciel shouted at the being right in front of him. “Do you regret why didn’t you have that strength to change everything?” “Shut up! Just stop! Stop! Stop talking! Stop it! Stop talking!” The being asked him once again. “Do you blame yourself, Luciel?” He remembered how Serenity died in front of him, how Simeon got hurt during the war and how he hurt Sachiel, his own twin, with his own hands. He did those. He f*****g did those things to them... to her... to himself. “Yes,” he covered his face with his hands as it started to grow black claws. “I blame myself for not being strong enough to protect them.”
