Chapter 6While Mateo went to get snacks from the grocery store across the road—with cash Wes had given him which had made Mateo incredibly awkward—Wes pumped the gas and took Lily to the bathroom. The locals seemed friendly, but Wes made sure to keep his body language such that they wouldn’t try to chat too much. He knew logically there hadn’t been time for Mateo to tell him everything. He also knew there would be secrets Mateo wouldn’t tell if it wasn’t mandatory.
