Chapter 3 – Embarrassing Plane ride
Raegan Mayfield
POV
I was a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles...
I have this unrealistic fear of heights, I cannot stand on a balcony without freaking out.
I'm terrified of flying I supposed to be on this flight with my best friend, but she ditched me to stay another day with a guy she just met... I’ve taken a calming pill and I’ve had three glasses of wine to calm my nerves.
So I get to my seat and I'm trying to relax, I got a glass of champagne and I'm drinking some more to calm my titties... I prayed I fell asleep at least halfway through.
I didn’t move when I felt someone sit beside me. I didn’t look who it was, I didn’t care all I cared about was staying calm. I needed to stay calm. Fists clenched I take a deep breath I close my eyes.
The plane takes off and I’m starting to feel the high of the alcohol, finally. I'm finally calm sipping my champagne until the plane experiences turbulence... All of the alcohol rushes out of my body.
Oh God I am going to die. I am going to die.
"We going to die... Did we crash into something?" I whisper out
"It’s just turbulence" someone says
"The hell it is... When a plane is crashing do you think they would tell us?" I ask
"Did you know Orville Wright was the first person to crash a powered aircraft in 1908. He injured himself, a co-inventor and the passenger?" I ask
“I did not know that, no…” I hear a man say
Too scared to open my eyes I ignore the pull my body has to look at him.

POV
I look at the girl freaking out beside me, I am completely stumped. I didn’t expect to be stuck next someone who was afraid of flying. We were experiencing mild turbulence and she’s acting as if we are already dead. She believed we were going to crash. How do I calm her down?
I watch her clench her fists so tightly her hands turn white, her eyes shut tightly no light could get in. her jaw clenched so tight I am scared her teeth could snap at any second.
“Di-did you know two people actually invented the telephone? Yet when we speak about the telephone, we think of Alexander Graham Bell and no one seems to remember Antonio Meucci.” She goes on to utter completely random facts I’ve never heard of.
“I take it this is your first flight?” I ask her
For the first time since I’ve sat down she looks at me. She bites her bottom lip. Her eyes widen and she nods shyly.
I take a moment to admire her. Her jet-black hair tied into a braid hanging off her shoulder. Her green eyes shinning brightly. I could see the fear in her eyes.
She nods.
I give her a smile and take her hand.
“Don’t worry it was just some turbulence, you’ve got nothing to worry about.” I tell her
She bites her lip again and nod. She squeezes my hand and I let her.
Halfway through the flight she falls asleep.
I let her.
I take in her features. She really is beautiful if you ask me. The innocence that rolls off her is beyond this world. I take my coat from the floor and drape it over her. she slept holding my hand.
When we land, I tap her shoulder lightly waking her up.
I smile and tell her "The plane landed" I tell her

POV
I look around and see people getting off the plane... I cannot believe I fell asleep. I thank the stranger... I can’t believe I fell asleep holding his hand. I was amazed when I saw the man. His dirty blonde hair tied into a bun, his bright hazel brown eyes. He didn’t look at me like other men saw me. Especially when I can’t stop myself from embarrassing myself. I rush off the plane without looking back... And pray I never see this guy again... I have embarrassed myself enough for this lifetime.
A few days later Nicole my best friend drags me to a party I wasn’t big on parties but the guy she met in Chicago came with her back to Los Angeles and they are meeting some of his friends at a party.
I wore a skinny jean and a basic tank top that shows a little cleavage. Like Nicole wanted. I wanted nothing more than to be at home curled up with a book, but of course my best friend wouldn’t let me.
The party was kind of boring so I went upstairs to one of the empty bedrooms I closed the door and sat on the bed. I took out my phone out of my back pocket. I open my reading app and read a random romance novel.
The door opens. I look up and my jaw drops.
He frowns. "Are you stalking me?" He asks
"I-Uh no. I didn’t know this was your room. I came with my friend. I didn’t know you would be here. I don’t even know who you are..." I blurt out.
He cracks a smile. “Then explain why you’re not downstairs with your friend and why you’re in my bedroom?" he asks
"I don’t like people…" I say shyly looking down at my hands.
"Interesting. Then why are you here?" he asks
"My friend dragged me here; I promise I’m not here to stalk you. I really had no idea you would be here. I don’t have what it takes to be a stalker." I blurt out
He starts laughing like really laughing tears running down his face...
I cross my arms and scowl at him. He did not have to laugh at me.
"I’m sorry it’s just you’re so cute. Relax this is not even my place. This is my brother’s house. I’m just visiting." He smiles he looks amused.
I could not stop my cheeks from heating up. No one has ever called me cute before. I’m normally the girl in the background and Nicole gets all the attention.
“Are you blushing?” he asks
I shake my head. “No. I am just getting hot. It is ridiculously hot in this room.” I tell him
He comes over and sits beside.
"What you reading?" he asks he picks my phone up from my lap and looks at the screen. He looks up at me and smiles. "My lucky #13?" he asks
I roll my eyes. I do not know what the problem is. "Yes, so what’s wrong with that?” I ask him
He shrugs. “Nothing sweetheart I was just asking.” He speaks
"Why aren’t you downstairs?" I ask him
He looks at me and smiles. He hands me my phone. “Being up here with you is so much more interesting than hearing my brother and his buddies talking about s**t all night.” He says with a bright smile on his face.
