Chapter 2
Olivia Herrington
POV
When we got home, I made arrangements with Bridge to get my phone back, but just my luck he had already blown the car to pieces.
I walk out of the bedroom and into the living room where David and Kira are. Watching the two of them laying on the sofa watching a movie while Kira talks a mile and hour, reminds me of the night David and I met for the first time. Though a lot of that night is hazy, but I do remember the second I laid eyes on him.
==========
Flashback…
Carla my best friend dragged me to a bar on the outskirts of town. We were celebrating she said. We’d just graduated high school and she wanted to lose her virginity before we went away college.
We are sitting at the bar her eyes at the door seeing if anyone who walks in catches her eye. I can’t believe she’s going through with this.
“Honestly, I can’t wait until I am no longer a virgin, I want a strong man to deflower me. My bob can only do so much.” She complains before chugging down her beer.
Carla and I have been best friends since we were in diapers. We went to school together and we plan to go off to college together. We even plan to have children together. Houses right next door to each other as well.
I shake my head, smiling at her. She’s crazy. “I can’t believe you hid a vibrator in your room. That’s so crazy. What if you mom or dad finds it?” I ask her. my parents would go through my things all the time. I couldn’t even read a regular romance novel without them throwing it out. Our parents are really religious, and we’re not allowed to even look at the opposite s*x without them thinking we’re flirting.
“Of course not, my parents aren’t batshit crazy like yours are. Going through my things? Are you insane?” she asks.
I shake my head. True my parents were a little crazy. That’s why as soon as I move out after the summer and school starts, I’m going to get my own place.
“Holy f**k check out that guy.” She says staring at someone behind me.
I turn around. My eyes widen, I’ve never seen anyone as attractive as him, he has a buzz cut, jet black hair the most alluring green eyes, like I’ve read in books. You can tell he’s tall by the way his legs sit uncomfortably in the booth. As if he can sense me staring his head snaps up and he looks over at me. butterflies in my stomach I avert my eyes...
When I turn to Carla, I see she’s gone. I sigh. I take out my phone and go into my bookstore. I pick out a book out of the Piper Rayne collection, the two of them have to be one of my all-time favorite authors. I read the book while I wait for Carla to return. She told me she’d let me know if she left.
I am so focused on my book I didn’t realize until he spoke up that he was beside me. “So, miss Library what you doing reading in a bar?” the guy I was looking at earlier asks.
Startled I look over at him in shock. My eyes wide and my mouth dropped I just stare at him.
He chuckles lightly. “I’m David… What’s your name?” he asks.
I smile. “My name is Olivia, but my friends call me Livy.”
He smiles “Well it’s nice to meet you Livy. So why are you reading here anyway?” he asks.
My smile widens... “I’m here with my friend. I’m just waiting for her.” I tell him.
He looks at me but doesn’t say anything. I can’t tell what his thinking.
“What about you?” I ask.
“A friend’s getting married so we’re celebrating.” he says softly, nodding toward the noisy crowd in the back.
I nod. “That’s nice, so why aren’t you over there right now?”
He shrugs his shoulders. “It got a little too rowdy for me, I love my friends, but they can be a hand full.
The bartender comes over and he orders himself a beer. “Do you want anything?” he asks me.
“A glass of milk please…”
He frowns “Milk?” he asks.
I nod. “Yes, Milk.”
He smiles shaking his head. The bartender hands us our drinks. He says we should head over to the booth on the other side of the bar, and we do. He gets a phone call when we get to the booth. I excuse myself walking over to the bathroom. I splash my face with cold water.
What was I doing? Why was I even entertaining this guy knowing I wouldn’t go home with him. I should just tell him I’m not interested. I’ve got big plans for my future; I want it all. Everything I’ve ever read in books, the romance, the white picket fence, the love they write about in books, and I want a bunch of babies. I’ve always wanted a big family because I grew up an only child.
When I get back to his table. He’s on the phone. I turn away from him waiting for him to finish his call before I sit back down. When he spots me, he motions for me to sit down. I do, he gets up and takes his call away from the table.
I sit reading my book finish while I wait for him, what was the pep talk I just gave myself if I’m just going to stay? I thought I was walking away.
“Hey little lady, what’s a hot girl like you doing in a bar like this?” a guy asks.
I shake my head. “I’m waiting for someone…” I tell him.
His smile brightens. “I’m sure you are…” he takes the seat David just vacated.
I read my book ignoring him trying to make conversation. Five minutes later he walks away after calling me a b***h.
I put my phone away and take a sip of my milk. I frown when it tastes a little different than I remember.
David returns to the table with a smile on his face. We spend the rest of the night smiling and laughing, I can’t believe how much fun I’m having. I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun.
==============
When I open my eyes, I realize I’m not in my room. My head is killing me. Did I knock my head? I look around the room and see David laying naked beside me. My eyes widen. I get up quietly. I can’t believe I slept with him.
I quietly get dressed and leave before he wakes up. What the hell happened last night?
I just had milk, yet I don’t remember anything that happened after us sitting in the bar.
I do really like David, but it doesn’t mean I want to lose my virginity for a one-night stand.
I rush out of the apartment and down the stairs. I let out a sigh of relief once I’m out in the street. I flag down a cab and rush over to Carla’s house.
I sneak into Carla’s bedroom. I see her lying on her bed on her phone...
“What happened to you last night” she asks when she spots me.
All heat rushes to my face. I shake my head and head to her bathroom.
“You naughty girl. You slept with that guy, didn’t you? I saw you laughing with him when I left last night.
I cringe. “I don’t know what happened. I just had milk, but I don’t remember anything, and I got this terrible migraine when I woke up.” I explain.
Carla frowns and looks at me. “Are you sure you just had milk? It wasn’t alcohol? Maybe a cocktail or something? It sounds like you have a hangover” she asks.
I think about it. “It did taste a little different. I guess I had my first taste of alcohol, and I didn’t like it.
===========
“Livy?”
“Livy?”
I look over at David confused.
“You were just standing there in a daze I thought something happened to you, are you okay?” he asks.
I shake my head. “I have to head to the store. My phone, I-I lost it.” I say quickly.
I didn’t want him knowing, I was thinking about the night we met.

David Herrington
POV
“Okay why don’t we head to the mall together?” I ask Olivia. She’s been daze like since I spotted her staring into space all dazed.
She looks up at me in shock. “What?”
“I’m saying go get ready and we’ll go together to the mall to get you a new phone.” I tell her.
When I got back, I checked out joint account to see if I needed to send her anymore money, imagine my shock when I realize she hasn’t spent a cent of it in years. “I’ve noticed you haven’t used the money from our joint account.” I mention.
She nods. “Yes, I got an admin job a few years ago after I got my degree, so I’ve been using that money for groceries.” She says looking down at her hands.
I sigh, not saying anything. Olivia always assumes she’s a bother to me. Though we’ve only spent one night together and made our daughter, she’s still my wife and I’ve been faithful to her.
After getting Kira and Olivia into my truck we head to the mall.
I tap on the steering wheel, listening to the radio. Kira was talking about all the things she’s done and her new best friend since I’ve been gone. I don’t get to phone her often and sometimes I can’t call her at all. She’s very understanding about my job. And Olivia has basically been a single parent since I’m gone more than I’m home.
With my sister getting married I had to come home, my little sister is tying the knot. I want Kira to be there with me. but I don’t know if now is the right time. This is about Gabby not about me and my family. Maybe I should wait until Christmas. I’m home for the next six months, so I think I should wait until then. Maybe I should talk to Olivia about it.
“You don’t want to go to the store you lost your phone in?” I ask her.
She looks over at me and shakes her head. “No, it’s long gone by now…” she sighs.
I smile at her and nod. Probably true, if anyone picked up a phone, they would take it for themselves.
When we got to the store, we get the phone set up and a few things Kira wanted. Though my daughter isn’t spoiled she loves getting things from me. Olivia has done an amazing job with her.
It takes me back to when I saw Olivia again, she was at a mall, I knew right away the baby was mine, I remembered the night we were together and I remembered her being a virgin, though I only found out the next morning when she was already gone.
Her parents kicked her out of their house, and she was staying in a single dorm room with her best friend.
I immediately proposed marriage. I am in the Navy, so to support her I proposed marriage. I promised her I wouldn’t touch her again. I felt terrible because I had taken advantage of her that night.
She was so young, but she is an amazing mother to our daughter. She has taken such good care of my daughter. I am amazed by how well she’s been doing without my help.
I look at her and think about having another baby with her of course. I have no idea if she even wants more children. We haven’t exactly spoken about what would happen in the future.
It seems like there’s a lot we need to speak about…
