I AM BACK FOR GOOD!

1839 Words
LUCAS JONES It’s only been a year, yet everything feels so different. When I left New York City, everyone knew me and knew what I was capable of, but it felt like my absence were taken advantage of. My company seems to be crumbling down under everyone’s watch. I thought I left it under good hands while I had to deal with my other companies and stuff, but it’s true when they say trust no one. I just drove into my private parking at my oil company. Yesterday, I was at site to see if we are making enough oil, only to find one of the oil pumps broken, wasting tons of gallons of oil spilling into the ocean. It made me f*****g angry because the oil being wasted cost over two million dollars and on top of that, we are fined by the government for the mess in the ocean. I must go to court and pay half a million for the damages like what the f**k! Money is not a problem, but who the f**k wants to waste so much money like that? As I walk into the door, I am greeted by the employees whom I some do not know. Just when I was about to get to the elevator, I notice a couple of people at the reception desk chatting so I walk over to see what is happening. I cannot be facing crisis and then there are people who are just standing around gossiping. “We thought you would be somewhere deep in the world with Wayne. We didn’t expect you so soon at work!” One person says. As I get closer, I realise that Cassandra is back. I guess she is ready. “What actually happened at your wedding? We were suddenly asked to leave. And, why are you not wearing your ring?” Another person asks. As I stand behind them, Cassie notices me and her eyes suddenly relax and she looks rather relieved to see me. She looked bombarded as if she needed some saving, but I am here now... she can relax. I am back – back for good now. God, I missed her so much. I sometimes regret leaving g to Poland because what I had with her that night was very special. She had me feeling like a teenage boy again. The fact that I was her first makes everything special. I claimed her and from there, I knew that she belonged to me. I own her. “Uh-hum,” I clear my throat and they all look back. Their eyes shoot open and their backs straighten up. Many do not know that I am back. They are in for a surprise. I don’t plan to reprimand, threaten, or warn anyone. I am just going to be nice... just for a little bit. “Uh, Mr. Jones. Sir, we didn’t know that you are back,” They say. “Now you know. Get back to work!” I firmly order. They all walk around me and disappear. It is just Cassie and I, searching for each other’s souls in each other’s gazes. Damn, she looks even prettier today. How dare she? She has a lithe figure, her curves subtle yet alluring. Her eyes are deep pools of amber, brimming with an enigmatic energy. Her hair colour is warm chestnut brown, the curls soft and inviting. I could always tell her mood by the colour of her lipstick. She always wore a hot pink lipstick and sometimes red, but I know her mood is down when those juicy lips are wearing nude lipstick. “Your leave isn’t over. Pack up and go home and relax. In fact, you don’t need to keep coming to work. You married a multibillionaire, so you won’t need the money you are making here,” I suggest. “I am not going to do what you want. Just because we got married does not mean you own me,” She says so carefully. “The reason you are here is because you needed money. You don’t have to work anymore because I can take care of you now,” She lets out a short bitter laugh and shakes her head. “All the girls will who work here would love that, but not me. I love my job, so don’t insult me,” I smirk and nod. “Stubborn brat. Come and see me at lunch,” “If it is had nothing to do with work, I will have to decline. I would like not to be seen with you, and I would appreciate it if you keep our marriage incognito,” “Are you embarrassed that you are married to me?” I ask. “Yes! It is embarrassing to tell everyone that I ended up marrying my fiancé’s uncle. I don’t want to be talked about here or anywhere else!” I chuckle and turn to leave. “See you at lunch!” I say a little too loud. I hear her gasp. *** “It is not good. Losing over two million dollars recklessly is not good for our business. What does this say about us to our client? Would they trust to bet their money on us?” I question. I called a seniors’ meeting from every department. I need solutions to bring my company back at number one. “We are sending out statements to the clients ad we speak, sir,” The senior PR says. “Clearly, it does not seem to work. The problem is that you saw the problem coming but you did not do anything about it until it made a mess. Don’t try to deal with problems after they happen,” I stand up, ready to leave the boardroom. “Be on the offense. I will clear this mess myself, but just so you know as of tomorrow, we will all work twice as hard to make up for the money we lost. Be prepared to work overtime,” With that said, I take my laptop and leave, heading to my office. Just then, I receive a call in my phone. I sigh when I realise who is calling me. I answer as soon as I enter my office and close the door. “Are you ready to confess, Juliet?” I ask. “Don’t flatter yourself. You do know that I would never call you, right?” “Yet you did. What do you want?” “It is more like what you want. I have a proposal for you. Why don’t you come and see me later?” She requests. Whatever it is can’t be good. I wonder what she is up to now. “What is it about, Juliet?” She pauses and takes a breath. “Your wife. I need you to put her on leash,” “Who? Cassandra?” I ask an obvious question. “If it isn’t her, then who? She needs to stop coming anywhere near my son,” “Near your son?” I ask suspiciously. “You know what I mean. She came here at Wayne’s Townhouse this morning,” “Cassandra was there?” “Just come see me ASAP,” She says then hangs up. Sigh. I head over to my office chair and take a seat. Before I could open my laptop, my office phone rings. “Jones,” I answer. “Sir, a man is here to have your package delivered. Can I send him through?” “Sign for it and bring it up here, Cassandra,” I order and hang up instantly. In five minutes, she walks into the office with a small box and puts it on the table without saying anything then turns to leave. “Where do you think you are going?” I ask. “Back to work, sir. Is there anything that has to do with work that you need?” She has got a bad attitude right now. Nasty and f*****g hot right now. I could tear that pencil skirt apart and bend her over to the couch and f**k the attitude out of her. “I passed by your house this morning and your mother said that you already left. Where did you rush to so early?” I question, tricking her into answering me. Her body stiffens. I open the drawer on my desk and take out a pocket knife before I stand and walk up to her. “Still thinking about your answer, baby girl?” I ask. I grab her waist and pull her to my body. “Lucas, we are at work. We can’t do this,” “What are we doing?” I slide my hand in her blouse from her neck and pull out the price tag. I open the pocket knife and cut the price tag with the price of eight dollars. She gasps after realising what I was trying to do. I can see her feeling a little embarrassed and afraid to look at me. The attitude is now gone, but honestly, I was not trying to embarrass her. “You are married into wealth. Do not be afraid to spend as much as you want next time. Send me you banking details so that my accountant can add you in the books. You will receive a weekly allowance from then,” I turn and take the box before I cut it open. I take out a silver jewellery box and hand it to her. “What is this?” She asks. “A ring. That is the only thing missing as a newly wed. It would not make sense if you did not wear a ring,” She nods quietly. I put on my suit jacket and pack up my laptop. “I am stepping out for the rest of the day. I’ll come and pick you up later at your house,” “Why haven’t you opened a case for a missing person?” Her question catches me off guard. “Huh?” “Your nephew is missing, but none of you is doing anything to find him unless you know where he is. You have all the money in the world. Send your people to find him,” I knew these question were going to come soon and I will have to answer her sooner or later. But for now, “Do you think I f*****g care where Wayne is? I married his fiancée and f*****g her so good. Why would I risk having him back here?” I march to the door. “Wayne is a grown ass boy. He knew what he was doing when he left you, so why bother looking for him?” “Lucas!” She exclaims. “He is your nephew,” Her voice hoarse as if she is about to cry. “Fix yourself. The reception won’t attend itself down there,” With that said, I walk out. I breath out.
