Chapter 1
Joel kept his back straight, eyes alert ready for an attack at any given moment. His foot stopped mid step when an unfamiliar scent crossed his path. He looked around sensing nobody near but his wolf was telling him otherwise. He swiftly mind linked Theodore Roman about the situation.
It was mere minutes before he stood there himself in the flesh. His gruff, deep voice spoke in impatience. "What's the problem?"
The beta, Joel, spoke motioning where he caught the scent. "There's an unfamiliar scent near the Northern border. Maybe one of Alpha Micha's." Theo dismissed his beta while he tracked from where the scent came. His ears perked hearing paws strike the ground every second. The wolf was fast, perhaps running from something.
He furthered his path cautiously. The unwelcome guest was getting closer with every second until it was finally in sight. Theo stood tall waiting until the wolf sensed his presence.
He watched as the small wolf tumbled over itself and rolled to a stop. It quickly jumped onto all fours and looked around as though someone pushed it. It's head snapped over to where Theo stood looking unamused.
"Shift."
The wolf listened without any thought and stood with her naked glory. She gave him a toothy grin. "Hi!" His eyes traveled over her body for a split second before looking back into her eyes. He pushed his wolf down ignoring the constant howl of 'mate' escaping its snout. He studied her perky expression intently while she looked around. Her eyebrows drew together in confusion. "Who are you?"
"The Alpha."
"You're the Alpha?" She quickly questioned with uncertainty in her voice.
"You're on my territory, little wolf."
"Oh," She frowned gazing at the unfamiliar land. "What pack is this?"
"Lycan Summit." Her mouth went slack for a moment before she looked around more frantically. He took the chance to fully look at his mate. She had mixed dark skin, hazel eyes, a mess of curls on top her head, and a terribly short figure. "Why were you running?"
Her eyes went back to his and they lit up ready to tell a story. "Well," She started taking a deep breath. "Beta Miles took me and the other scouts out to train like Alpha Micha said to but I got lost while we were training so I just started to run because that's what we're meant to do but I guess I ran too far because I'm here for some reason and you're kinda cute." She spoke much too fast for his liking but he couldn't help the quirk of his lips before his face was blank once more.
He had wondered why she was so short, werewolves weren't short unless they were breed to be a scout. Scouts were like trackers but they were trained to be fast and last days without food or water while searching for what they needed to. He wasn't too familiar with them, he didn't use them in his pack. They were only introduced 20 years ago when the first scout was born. As the rogue population escalated so did the scouts.
He smelt Alpha Micha on her, she was a member of his pack. His knowledge was short of why they had rogues attack so often but they did so he started to breed scouts to hunt them.
"Come with me."
She watched him turn around and walk off without any doubt she'd follow him. When he heard the crisp leaves crunch under her bare feet he stopped in his tracks. "Where are your clothes?"
"Tied to some tree a couple miles back."
"Why?"
"I saw a bunny." He didn't further his questions assuming she chased it forgetting her clothes in the process. Theo removed his shirt and placed it in her hand when she stood next to him.
It was when she was finally next to him that she inhaled his scent by accident. Her alpha had always told her pack it was disrespectful to know the scent of an alpha besides yours without it being your mate.
Her wolf danced circles in her mind and she brought the shirt up to her nose smelling it. "You smell like wood." She blurted out absentmindedly. "But not the bad wood. The good kind, like when it rains." Theo gazed down at his little mate before continuing to walk.
She followed him talking about anything she could think of in that very moment. He made little effort to communicate back but she didn't mind. She made conversation for both of them.
When she finally caught sight of actual homes and other wolves she stepped closer to him. "Mister?"
"Theo." He replied in a raspy tone.
"Alpha Theo?" He looked at her in a reply. "Don't I have to go back to my pack? It's been a couple days since I last saw the other scouts and I don't think my alpha will be happy with me. He always tell me not to wonder off and I normally don't but when I do he gets mad. I don't mean to but-"
"No."
"No what?"
"I will inform him you are staying with me." She was not surprised by his words. It was common for wolves to leave their pack to be with their mate but she didn't even have clothes with her.
"Um mister?"
"Theo." He corrected again opening the door to his home. She looked up at the medium sized house and walked in hesitantly.
"Theo?"
"Yes?"
"Can't I go home and at least get my stuff? Or maybe I could wear your clothes forever? They do smell very good." She nodded to herself. She blew a few curls out of her face that fell out of place when she shook her head.
"I will set a meeting up with your alpha."
"Um theo?" He took her hand and guided her up the stairs before letting go and led her through different hallways.
"Yes?"
She didn't get the time to speak before a squeak left her lips and her back was firmly pressed against the wall. Her eyes blinked rapidly before focusing on the face in front of her in awe. "You're even faster than me!"
The new faces jaw locked and studied every detail about her. "Tristian." Theo warned beside them. Tristian slowly released her and she looked up at him smiling brightly.
"You smell good too!"
Tristian gave a small smirk to his mate. "As do you."
She shook her head and lightly ruffled the large shirt she had on. "I think that's Alpha Theo." Tristian simply gave her a lingering smirk before turning to his brother.
"Who is this?"
"I'm Emilia!"
"Well Emilia, you are most welcome at our pack for as long as you need." She giggled at his flirty expression.
"Thank you, Mister."
"As much as I do like hearing that from your mouth you may call me Tristian."
Her eyes switched back and forth between Theo and Tristian intently. They were clearly brothers, they looked alike but had their clear differences. Theo's black hair was styled in a way it wouldn't move even during a windy day. Tristian's messy black hair shifted with every step he took. They were both equally tall, and very buff. She didn't expect anything less from an alpha. They were light skinned, their parents probably being mixed. Theo had captivating green eyes while Tristian has a mischievous glint to his brown eyes.
"Are you both the Alpha?"
"We are."
"Why?"
"We like to share what's ours." Tristian answered scanning her body slowly. She bit her pouty lips nervously.
"Are you both my mates?"
"We most certainly are." He again answered with that same devilish smirk. "You are quite the little thing aren't you?" He asked more to himself, admiring how his brothers shirt went all the way down to her knees. Although, the two of them were bigger than the average wolf.
"She's a scout."
Tristian looked at his mate in approval. "Fast little thing." She grinned proudly and rocked back and forth on her heels.
"Mister?"
Theo finally stopped correcting her. "Yes?"
"Can you tell my Alpha I'm with you? He's probably wondering where I am."
"Come." He instructed. Emilia gave a lingering smile to Tristian before following her other mate to his office.
"Woah." She whispered after walking into his office. It was quite large, larger than her alphas. It was surprisingly very neat and well decorated. After plopping down in the seat in front of his desk she watched him press a button and the phone instantly started ringing. After informing Alpha Micha of everything he hung up.
"I will have my Delta and Gamma collect your things, tomorrow." She nodded distracted still looking around at everything.
"Mister?"
"Emilia."
"If you're the alpha, and my mate does that make me the Luna?"
"It depends, little wolf." She brought her full attention back to him.
"On what?"
"If you'd like to be my Luna."
She propped her elbows on the table and rested her chin in her hands. "I don't know what a Luna does, Mister."
"I could show you."
She bit her lip again as her eyes shifted to anything new. He noticed she got distracted easily, lost interest in things in mere seconds. "What if I didn't want to be Luna?"
"Then don't."
"Is that allowed?"
"It is."
"Hmm, may I think about it?"
"You may."
"What would I be if not the Luna?"
"Our mate."
A smile crossed her face looking back at him. "I'd be your mate either way, silly." He leaned back, more relaxed in her presence and allowed a small amused smile to slip through.
"I suppose you would."
