I hurry quickly after him, following his broad, muscular shoulders. I squeeze between the hot bodies trying to reach him. I quickly grab his hand as soon as I'm close enough, trying to pull him back to me. He stops short but not turning back to me, he's too strong for me to actually turn him. "Atticus." I say softly. He turns to me with a closed off look in his gorgeous eyes. "Yes?" I step up to him so that he'll be able to hear me. "He's not my boyfriend." He looks deep into my eyes as if searching for a sign I'm lying. "Then what is he to you?" He asks. "I've never met him before tonight." I say honestly. He sighs. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. And even if he had been your boyfriend, that's your choice." My heart flutters. I nod. He looks guiltily at me. "Now that I've ruined your night, can I make it up to you by buying you a drink?" I smile up at him. "You haven't ruined my night. If anything you've made it more interesting." He takes my hand and leads me to an empty booth. "What can I get you?" He says. "A mojito please." He strides confidently to the bar to get our drinks while I observe him as he waits. He's so confident and tall and handsome. Everything about him is alluring and mysterious. I want to know him. Who he really is. My line of vision is broken my a body blocking my view. I look up to see Ben. "Hey Ben." I say. His forehead creases with worry. "Are you okay? Did that guy bother you?" He questions. I shake my head. "No, everything's fine thank you." "Are you sure?" He further questions. "Come back to the others with me." He pushes. I firmly shake my head. "I'm fine Ben. Honestly. Let the others know that I'll see them around and they don't need to worry about me." I say. "Okay Ads, if you say so.." He says uncertainly. I smile at his concern. Before I can reply though, Atticus is back with our drinks. Emotion flickers in his bright blue eyes at the sight of Ben, and the intense look on his face almost makes me blush. "Can I help you?" He asks Ben shortly. Ben looks mildly frightened. "No. I was just leaving." He rushes out before hurrying away. "Bye Ben!" I call after him, feeling bad. Atticus sits down next to me and hands me my drink. "Sorry about your friend." He says, but I can tell he doesn't mean it. "So what brought you here tonight?" I ask in an attempt to lighten the mood. He shakes his head subtly, as if clearing his head. When he looks at me again his eyes are soft again. "I was supposed to be meeting friends here but as I arrived they canceled. When I bumped into you I was just leaving." He replies. I nod. We chat for a while longer until we've both finished our drinks. I'm no where near drunk, or even tipsy, but I feel like dancing. I stand up and adjust my dress. "Dance with me?" I ask. He shakes his head. "I don't dance." I pout and sigh. "That's a pity then, I'll just have to go find Ben again, I'm sure he'd love to dance with me." I start walking away. I'm quickly tugged back against a hard body. "I'd love to dance." He says with a frown. I laugh and shake my head, pulling him to the dance floor by our intertwined hands. Atticus pulls me against him, placing his hands on my waist. I put my hands on his muscular shoulders but it's an awkward angle for my arms to be slightly bent so I slide my hands around his neck. There are people all around us but all I'm aware of is his intoxicating smell and piercing eyes. We don't talk, but we don't need to, and we couldn't even if we wanted to due to the music. I don't know how long we dance but I have so much fun. Just us enjoying each other. How ever many hours later we stumble out of the club. I feel giddy even though I've only had two cocktails. "I'll drop you at home." Atticus says. He shrugs off his jacket and puts it around my shoulders before putting his arm around me and pulling me close. I don't even bother protesting because I love it. He leads me to his car, some kind of Porsche. "Nice car." I state. "I suppose." He says noncommittally. I don't question him. He opens the passenger door for me before jogging around to his side. His car smells like him making me want to stay in here forever. I kick off my shoes and tuck my feet in under me. As I'm so comfortable, I'm all of a sudden exhausted. I yawn. I lean my head on the window and close my eyes. I can distantly hear Atticus talking but I'm unconscious before I can reply.  *** I'm faintly aware of strong arms lifting me out of the car. I blink rapidly and yawn. "I'll walk." I mumble. "You'll do no such thing." He replies. No point in arguing. I snuggle into his arms and wrap my arms around his neck and I lay my head on his shoulder. "Fine by me." I whisper. He walks for a while before gently placing me on a bed. And then I'm out.
