Alpha Nate
I stopped in my tracks when I came upon the scene of my mate covered in scales, her sister on her hip, and a trident in her hand.
When Bailey said something, Duke growled and Ayla pointed the trident at her neck.
Ayla blew me off and left me to deal with Bailey. But first, she threw the trident in the pool.
"What in the actually f**k, Bailey?" I demanded.
"Nate, she attacked me," she cried, pulling away from her brother.
"And why the hell would she do that?" I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Why don't you ask your mate that," she spat, and I stepped towards her. My aura spilled out and she whimpered.
"I don't think you understand. You threatened the queen of the western sea. The other kingdoms could demand your head and no one could protect you," her eyes went wide, and she looked at her brother, who nodded.
"Nate, I didn't do anything wrong," she pleaded.
"It's Alpha Nate, Bailey. We are not friends. And if you come near my mate again, I will kill you. This isn't a game about who has my attention. I will always defend my mate and Luna. Do you understand?"
"Hey, don't look at me. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes," Mitch shrugged when she looked at him for support.
"Put down the shovel and stop digging your f*****g grave," I told her before I turned and headed into the pack house to find Ayla.
As soon as she mindlinked me, I dropped everything and rushed over there. I was out with the boys patrolling and catching up.
"Nicely handled," Atlas commented as I walked past him.
"I can't handle any more crazy," I sighed, shaking my head. He patted me on the shoulder before my phone rang out loudly. Pulling it out of my pocket, Xander's name flashed. Great what else could have happened, I thought, as I answered.
"Xander?"
"Nate, is everything okay there? Where is Ayla? Is she okay?" He rushed out. He sounded out of breath.
"Xander, what the hell is going on?" I growled. Atlas grabbed my shoulder, stopping me from moving into the house.
"Kaden, Silas, and Chase are losing their minds here. They felt something happening with Ayla. And I felt it. Kaden is threatening to get a chopper and fly there."
"How the f**k does he know where we are?" I demanded,
"Silas called Ayla yesterday."
"f**k," I yelled, "does she know?"
"I think so, Nate. You may want to talk to her."
"She's in the kitchen with her sister. I will get her to call you in five minutes. And tell Kaden if he shows up here, I will rip him apart." I hung up, clenching my fists. Just f*****g great.
"That didn't sound good," Atlas said.
"It's not. But I will fill you in later. I need to speak to Ayla before her damn ex decides to show up here," I grumbled before walking into the house.
I stopped and looked at my mate who was in the kitchen making a mess with her little sister. Both were laughing. My heart swelled knowing she was carrying my pup and this would be the scene in our house with our children. My frustration lessened as I watched.
Ayla was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her scales sparkled in the sun from the window above the sink. And she was all mine.
"Ruby, come to the pack house kitchen. I need you to watch Rosie while I speak with my mate," I linked my sister. I'm surprised she and mother weren't here already.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help us make some pancakes?" Ayla smirked, looking up at me.
"Nate's here," Rosie clapped as she sat on the counter by her sister.
"I think I need to take over while you go put some clothes on," I gave her a pointed look, as I moved towards her. "I don't want anyone else seeing what is mine."
She gasped when I grabbed her hips and pulled her back against my chest.
"Daddy does that to mommy, and she had babies," Rosie exclaimed. And not even girls," she huffed.
"Maybe next time, sweetie," Ayla tapped her little nose with a chuckle.
Just then Ruby came into the kitchen. "Here," she announced.
"Make pancakes with Rosie," I told my sister as I tugged Ayla.
"I'll be right back, sweetie," Ayla called out.
"What the hell, Nate," she questioned, as I gripped her hand and led her to the stairs.
"You need clothes and Xander needs to speak to you. But first clothes," I ordered as I marched up the stairs with my mate.
"Nate, you aren't making any sense. Why does Xander need to speak to me? Did something happen?"
As soon as we were on the beta floor and the door was closed, her scales receded, leaving her bare in front of me.
"That is why you need clothes," I exclaimed, and she looked at me confused.
"Something happened, besides what happened at the pool." I ignored her question and went into our room to get her something to cover up. I wish I could enjoy her, but I didn't need Kaden showing up here. I would surely start a war if I killed him.
She followed and when the robe was wrapped around her and the belt tightly secured. I pulled out my phone to call Xander and I put it on speaker,
"Nate, that was longer than five minutes," he yelled.
"Xander?" Ayla spoke.
"Oh, thank the goddess. Ayla, what the hell happened? We felt you in distress."
"I don't understand, we?" She sat down on the bed.
"Kaden, Silas, and Chase. Whatever happened, we felt it. And they are worried. Kaden is ready to fly there to make sure you are safe." he informed her. Ayla took the phone and put it on video.
"Let me speak to them. I'm safe. There was a misunderstanding with the b***h Nate was making out with at the bar, but nothing I couldn't handle."
"I think the fact I have to see your ex is worse than what I did," I mumbled, sitting down beside her.
"At least he doesn't try to kill you," she retorted.
"No, he was just your first love. I kissed the girl once." I scoffed. “Before we were together.”
"I would watch how you speak to her," Kaden growled. Looking at the screen, they were all watching and listening to us argue.
“And what the f**k are you going to do about it?” I snapped.
“Don’t f*****g tempt me, wolf boy,” he threatened. Ayla grabbed my hand.
“Enough, both of you. As you can see, I’m fine. There was a misunderstanding but it was handled. Now, I’m going to go make pancakes with my baby sister before I take her back out swimming.” She exclaimed.
“Ayla, we felt it. Whatever happened, the ocean was calling to us to protect you,” Chase said.
“We can figure it out when we are home. I understand your concern, I do, but Nate and my father aren’t going to let anything happen to me. I will see you all when we get home.” She ended the call and threw my phone on the bed before standing. I gripped her wrist.
“Nate, stop,” she pulled back and wouldn’t look at me.
“Please, come here, baby?” I tugged again and she didn’t resist this time. I pulled her between my legs and wrapped my arms around her waist.
“I love you. You and our child are everything to me,” I mumbled, looking up at her. She ran her fingers through my hair.
“I’m sorry for what I said earlier. I’m just annoyed at how much she thinks she deserves you. And she probably would have thought that even without the kiss,” she grumbled the last part and I chuckled.
“That’s all she will ever get of me, baby. You are my Luna and the only woman who has my entire heart and soul.”
