A heartache is a real thing, it even shows up on medical scans. When a heart is truly broken, the health of the body and brain needs time to recover. There aren't any magical medications or salves for the heart, yet only the healing that tranquil space, time and the love of others may bring. Rosie wants it, she wants to leave the room, seeing how Jerry was so happily and lovingly staring at Hayley.
Last night, when Jerry confessed her feelings towards Hayley. Rosie was never expecting it as Hayley gave her reassuring words such as Jerry will always look at her the same way as before.
But it never came. And the worst part is, Jerry is in love with his best friend even though Hayley was already married with Liam and they have a daughter. He was still boldly flirting with Hayley and that sight is such an eyesore for Rosie that she just wanted to leave the two instead of watching the guy and brutally killing her gradually with his actions towards Hayley.
While Hayley fed Jerry which she really refused earlier but Jerry was not going to eat unless Hayley would feed him.
Hayley asked Rosie if it's okay and even if it's not, Rosie still nodded her head with a reassuring smile. So she stood on the corner and pretended to browse on her phone until it rang and she sighed in relief because she will have a reason to leave the room.
"I'll just answer it." Rosie said and showed the screen to Hayley. The latter smiled at her and nodded her head so Rosie quickly left the room and answered the call. "Hello?"
"Hey, do you want me to pick you up?"
"No need, I brought my car and there will be a driver but thanks for the offer though." Rosie smiled but a lone tear rolled down on her face that she immediately wiped.
"Then go home, Rosie. Your son is waiting for you."
"I will, Juhyun. Please tell him that I'll be there." The blonde replied.
"Okay then, if you need to talk to someone, I'm just here okay? Don't worry, I haven't told anyone yet."
"Or do not tell at all. It will just create a tension between Jerry and Liam so better not to tell him." Rosie said as she walked away so Hayley wouldn't hear her but it was too late as Hayley was already looking at her from the open door and was confused about what the blonde was talking about.
Hayley went back inside and smiled at Jerry while the curiosity is in her head. "Jerry.." She called softly, sitting back on the edge of the bed.
"Yes, my turtle rabbit?" Jerry looked at her with a gummy smile but hearing those pet names could make Hayley uncomfortable because Jerry used to call her like that when he was still so vocal about his feelings towards her and that's when the realization hit her.
Hayley is a smart woman, and she didn't have to ask what is going on but she already got it by the way Jerry would stare at her. Especially the moment she stepped inside the room and Jerry looked so happy while Rosie just sat in the corner.
"Jerry, I'm married." Hayley started and Jerry visibly frowned on that statement and Hayley proves that it is what she was thinking it is.
"I know. You already told me yesterday."
"And do you know who that woman is?" Hayley asked while pointing at the door behind her.
"I don't know her, but grandpa said that she's my wife or should I say my soon to be wife as we are in an arranged marriage." Jerry air quoting the last two words.
"Jerry, she's the woman you love so much."
Jerry suddenly burst out laughing and shook his head. "No, I don't even find her beautiful because you're the only beautiful woman for my eyes."
"You two were about to get married 9 years ago, but you ditched her, she flew to London to heal herself then came back with Jayvee."
"My cousin? Then why am I—."
"You were so devastated that time when she left, until she came back with Jayvee. And they got married."
"Wow, then how am I supposed to marry her if she's already married to Jayvee?"
"They are going to have a divorce so you two can get married." Hayley said and honestly, she doesn't want everything to come from her but since Jerry was stuck to his feelings before and he's unintentionally hurting Rosie, she needed to tell him everything.
"All because my grandfather wants her for me? So he'll let my cousin hurt—."
"Jayvee is in prison because he's physically abusing his wife and.." Hayley paused as she looked over her shoulder to see if Rosie already came back but it seemed not so she turned back to Jerry and took his hands between hers. "Do you know why you ended up here in the hospital and lost your memory about Rosie?"
"Because God has more plans than to be with her?"
Hayley frowned but she quickly replaced it with a soft smile that made Jerry's heart melt. "Because you tried to save your son."
Jerry was dumbfounded for a moment, his brain started having a short circuit upon hearing the word son. He stared at Hayley but his mind wandered around to the place that he couldn't even remember.
"Jerry, you have a son with Rosie, the woman you love the most!" Hayley said and those words seemed to float in the air and slowly enter Jerry's brain. He started to feel dizzy, his surroundings moved and so as Hayley's features slowly faded from his eyesight and the darkness succumbed to him.
"What happened?" Rosie asked when the doctor and the nurses rushed into Jerry's room and Hayley was told to back away so they could assist the patient.
"He fainted." Hayley said worriedly while biting her nails. She knows it's her fault for feeding him a lot of information in just one go and it triggers something to Jerry that he lost consciousness.
"Why?" Rosie asked again.
"I-I don't know." Hayley lied and Rosie could feel that she's telling lies. So she pulled Hayley out of the room and slammed the door behind, leaving the hospital staff to take care of Jerry.
"Tell me what really happened?" Rosie asked sternly, looking at Hayley's eyes but the latter couldn't look at her. "Hayley!"
"I'm sorry, okay?! I did plan A."
"What plan A?!"
"That we're going to tell him everything! So I told him about his past relationship with you and about your son." Hayley's voice lowered at the last words and looked down to her feet.
"My God, Hayley! You shouldn't do that!"
"I have to." Hayley said calmly. "Because he has feelings towards me, the same feelings he had when we were still in college and I'm not going to let him hurt you just because he forgot about his feelings towards you." This time, she looked up to meet Rosie's widened eyes.
"H-how did you know about that?"
"I'm not stupid not to notice it. I know Jerry that much and him calling me my turtle rabbit is proof that his memories went back to our college days."
There was a sudden silence between the two women and just in time the doctor came out of the room. Hayley was fast to slide her way to the doctor to escape her situation with Rosie.
"Doc, how is he?" She asked.
"He's fine, it's just that he had some difficulty processing all the information you told him so next time, avoid doing that as much as possible because he just woke up from a coma and it's a bit dangerous for him to take information about his lost memories." The doctor explained and Hayley knows that Rosie is looking at her so she refrained looking back at the girl. "Let's just wait for him to remember everything on his own for now."
"Yes doc, thank you." Hayley said in relief and when the doctor excused himself along with the nurses, the heavy atmosphere came back.
"Hayley." Rosie called and the woman looked over her shoulder. "I'm sorry."
"W-what— no. Please don't. You're not at fault. Actually, I should be the one saying sorry because I didn't notice it immediately."
"Notice what?"
The two women snapped their heads on their side when they heard Liam's voice and they both feel nervous for some reason even though they know Liam wouldn't have any idea of what they're talking about.
"Nothing." Rosie was the first one to reply. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to pick up my wife and Seul-ki is here to replace you from watching over Jerry, he's just parking the car."
"No need, I'm fine. And it's my job to take care of him since I'm his fiancé." Rosie said.
"Ooh, fiancé." Liam teased with his eyebrows dancing up and down. "Okay then, I'll tell him to spend his night with his wife, how's Jerry?"
"He's asleep. So we better not disturb him." Hayley said and she turned to Rosie. "We're going home, are you going to be okay here?"
"Yes."
"Okay then, we'll get going. Call us if you need anything, okay?" Liam pulled his best friend into a hug and kissed her head. "Don't worry about Akiro, he's in good hands."
"I know." Rosie chuckled and she smiled at Hayley meaningfully.
When the couple left, Rosie entered the room and stared at Jerry for a few seconds before walking to her bag and took some clothes and had a quick shower while the guy was still asleep.
After dressing herself with new clothes, she stepped out from the bathroom and saw Jerry, sitting and his back leaning on the bed frame.
"You're awake." She stated the obvious as she walked towards the table so she could prepare Jerry's food.
"Where's Hayley?"
"Her husband picked her up."
"Oh." Jerry mumbled in disappointment and nodded his head one time before looking away. Rosie busied herself in preparing food while Jerry watched her back, trying to process all the information he learned from Hayley. "Hayley said that we have a son."
Rosie froze, but continued anyway. "Yeah, he's already four years old."
"May I know how it happened? I mean, aren't you married to Jayvee? Did you cheat on him?"
"No." Rosie replied as she lifted up the bed table and put it on Jerry's lap, enclosing his legs underneath. Then she walked back to the table to get the tray and back to the bed. "My son accidentally happened when you saved me from Jayvee after he hit me."
"So it's true that he's physically abusing you, then why did you still marry him even though you're pregnant with my son?"
"I didn't know that I'm pregnant at that time and Jayvee promised me that he will change and you are still unsure at that time so I continued the marriage with him without knowing that I'm already one month pregnant with Akiro."
"Akiro, that's our son's name?"
"Yes, and Jeremy."
"Whoa, wait. I have two sons?!" Jerry asked, flabbergasted. It just didn't make any sense for him how he had two sons whereas Rosie was married to his cousin. "So you mean, we did it again even after you got married to Jayvee?!"
"No. Jeremy is your son—." Rosie paused when she remembered what the doctor told them earlier. That to avoid giving him information that will lead him to faint again. "Look, the doctor said that—."
"Just tell me everything now. I don't care what the doctor told you. I wanna know how on earth I have two sons?" Jerry cut her off.
Rosie scrunched up her nose and let out a sharp breath. "Okay, I will tell you but start eating your food."
"You don't get to tell me what to do." Jerry scoffed which made Rosie get pissed off and she raised her left eyebrow.
"Then I'm not telling you anything." She stood on her ground and was about to stand up but Jerry stopped her.
"Fine. I'll eat it so start talking now." Jerry said irritatedly and he shot the woman with a dagger look as he lifted up the chopsticks.
"Okay, so I already told you about Akiro, right? He's your legitimate son while Jeremy is Hannah's son."
"Who's Hannah? My girlfriend?"
"No, your friend. She's your close friend who stayed in your house in New Zealand after she got pregnant with some bastard who ran away from his obligation."
"What an asshole." Jerry shook his head.
"Right? A man that runs away from his obligation is an asshole." Rosie said meaningfully but Jerry didn't take it for him as he couldn't remember anything.
"Yeah, so where is Hannah and why am I going to be the father of her son?"
"She died last month and since the kid left you, you decided to adopt him and legally be his father."
"Ohh." Jerry gasped and he looked at Rosie, as if he wanted to ask more but he couldn't take himself to do it so he just focused on his food.
"Are there any more questions?" Rosie asked, silently thanking that Jerry didn't pass out just like what happened to Hayley earlier.
"Actually, I do have one more question."
"Shoot." Rosie said coolly.
"Does Liam love Hayley?"
"More than his life and it goes the other way."
Jerry smiled but it was a sad smile, to the fact that he realized that he lost Hayley now.
"Forget about calling the wedding off. Once I get out of here, let's get married." Jerry said.
