I knew the silver was making me weaker and the struggle to free myself was draining my body. I could feel it getting loose with each struffle. I stopped for a minute taking in a deep breath. I knew I needed to rest my body to allow my wolf to heal me as much as he could. I coud feel him now. He was there but he was weak. I allowed my eyes to close momentarily trying to will myself to heal faster. The wolfsbane they had injected me with was slowly dissipating from my body. I could hear voices outside the door in the room I was in. The place was dingy. It looked abandoned a long time ago.
I opened my eyes and took a deep breath and started tugging at the chains again. my hands were raw and my body fatigued but I knew I had a very limited ti.e to get out. It felt like hours I had been at the silver. I looked down and realized I could slide out of the chains. With every last bit of energy I pushed myself up and slid out of the chains. I coukd immediately feel a difference with my wolf. He was still weak but with the silver and wolfsbane gone he was able to heal himself and push forward slightly in my mind.
I can't help you yet. we need rest Liam.
I know but I have to push forward and get us out of here. Benson is going to have us killed.
I felt him move to the back of my mind and fall asleep. I knew he needed it. Hell I knew I needed ot too but I had to keep moving. I stumbled to the door. the whispers had grown quiet. I decided it was time to open the door and move. I wasn't even sure where I was but I knew I needed out. Opening the door very slowly I was listening for any sounds around me. Not hearing anything I slipped out the door closing it behind me. there was a long dirty hallway withights that flickered on and off. there were other doors every so often.Travis? I realized I was in an apartment complex. by the looks of the place it looked uninhabited. I heard footsteps coming closer and I reached a door pushing it open and shutting it behind me. I could hear two people outside the door as I quietly listened in.
boss says burn down the place and start with his door first.
if that's what he wants let's get this started. I don't want to be here any longer than I need too.
the footsteps left the front door and I could hear them near the door I had been in. I could smell they were wolves. Shifters killing their own kind was beyond me. I slowly opened the door and crept behind them. They were busy pouring gasoline on the door not even noticing me behind them. I reached up and grabbed one by the neck not even giving him a chance to scream out I snapped his neck with a violent jerk and let his body fall to the floor just as the other threw the match igniting the hall on fire. the wolf turned towards me with a smirk on his face. "well looks like someone couldn't stay put. oh well, I don't think in your condition it will be much of a problem." his back leg was moving. I could tell he was going to lunge at me as he grew fidgety. I watched his body language intensively hoping it would give me an advantage in this fight. he punched out at me connecting his fist to my gut. I fell backwards quickly getting up and steadying myself as he linked for me his legs leaving the ground as I ducked down sliding under him and bringing my fist up to his groin. I felt his body react when I connected. he fell to the ground holding himself. Not waiting a second more I was on top of him and I instantly grabbed hold of his neck snapping it to one side and watching his eyes go blank as I let his head slam to the ground. I sat there for a few seconds his lifeless body next to me. The fire had grown more intense and I knew time was running out. I slid up the wall and started walking down the hall looking for a way out. the smoke was growing thick and black. It was strangling my lungs and every step felt heavy. I wasn't sure how long I would be able to stay awake with the smoke replacing my oxygen. I finally found my way to a stairwell and pushed through the door listening to the clank of the door as it slammed behind me. I took in a deep breath of the clean air and started making my way down. I wasn't even sure how many flights up I was but with each set of doors I could see fire engulfed the halls of every flight.
my mind was foggy as I kept climbing down towards freedom. my body was sore and I knew I didn't have much fight left in me. each set of stairs had a big number on the wall. floor four. I had been at least six flights up when I started. I needed rest but had no time. I wasn't sure I was going to make it. floor three. I was barely moving now. the stairwell was filling with smoke from all the fires that had been set. my lungs were burning. I closed my eyes and willed myself to keep moving. Floor two. I was so close. so close to freedom. I couldn't give up now. I had to keep moving. floor one. it was the last thing I remembered. I could hear voices outside and then gun shots as I slipped into the dark abyss. I knew that was it. I knew this was going to be the end of me. I couldn't help but think of Cara and how I had failed her. I knew she would be ok without me but I had convinced her to be my mate and now she would feel the pain of losing me. the bond would be severed and I knew the excruciating pain would come. I let myself slip deeper and deeper until I no longer felt anything. no more pain. no more suffering. just complete back that engulfed my mind. there was nothing left for me to fight it and I embraced it like a blanket. I felt a small amount of comfort in the dark.
