#1 Cara Star
No one choses to be a hunter. You can not simply walk that path you must be born into it. It is a blood line given down through generations from the moon Goddess herself. She has blood the hunter blood with special gifts and it is passed on through generations. It is not super powers. It is more like enhancements of our senses and strength. to see things that a human can not. we must have these abillities in order to dive into the shifter world that we must watch and sometimes hunt when one gets out of lline by killing or harming innocent humans. We are the protectors of the innocent. This sometimes includes the shifters themselves. It wasn't all just hunting and tracking down the shifters that went rogue. Sometimes it was building alliances in the shifter world so that we could freely enter their land with no issues. It helped that i was able to build some very powerful alliances in the shifter world. It has often served a much needed purpose. when a hunter turns thirteen they are taken out of huan school and they start home schooling and intense training. by the age of eighteen they are given small assignments to hone in our skills. Gradually a hunter will progress in both training and more intense jobs until they can be unleashed on their own to more serious crimes. I advanced so quickly by the time I was nineteen I was already tracking down shofters that were harming and killing humans. It wasn't as common for a hunter to be female. My parents saw something in me at a very young age and had gone to the council begging for the consideration. mostly females in my world and even the shifter world were breeders. they were expected to settle down and keep the bloodline going. Thanks to my parents that didnt happen to me. I was no mans toy. At twenty nine I had become the top in my world. no one surpassed my abiltity to track and capture criminals. I didn't have time for relationships. Friends were a luxury i did not give myself. I always found it hard to assimilate into the human world. I had seen things that most humans would never be asble to comprehend and most shifters were leary of hunters. It was taboo to date or even mate with a shifter. It had happened once or twice through out time but usually the hunter and shifter risked thier very own lives by chosing to be together even though they were fated. It cost some their lives. this angered me sometimes. the fear between hunters and shifters. i admired the shifters. their culture was beyond what most hunters have. they loved family and thrived off of it and they mated for life. often the males treated their fated mate with admiration and respect. The alphas were even bigger on this. their Luna was their equal and was treated as such. As a hunter princess I was thrown into training away from my parents. my training took up most of my time and my studies as well. I held two degrees in both human college and shifter college and trained non stop. it was lonely at times not really fitting in anywhere but i wasn't even sure how to be like everyone else in either world. Nope at twenty nine I was alone with no family. It was best this way. I wouldn't want to raise a child the way my parents had. I was only as good as my abilities and very rarely had anything to do with them. My brother on the other hand he was to take over. Being male had its perks for him. He trained but not like I had. he didn't need to. Hi splace was to be king and so his training was diffrent than mine. His training was minimal compared to mine. he was married and they had three kids so the lineage was ensured to move on which gave me the freedom to chose not to have a family. I didn't want to be a breeder. I wanted to have kids i cold love. I guess it was a good thing I had no time to have a personal relationship because ultimately i wold be expected to raise them in the same distant manner in which i was raised. Something I hoped when my nrother took over as king could change. I know he didn't like it either. we both had lobged for something more growing up then to be soldiers.
**ring, ring** my phone began buzzing in my pocket. I already knew it was work. It's what it always was. "hello, cara star."
the voice on the other end was my handler. she was who gave me my assignments and who i checked in with while on assignment or brokering a peace deal with a shifter pack. Most shifters lived in packs. It made them stronger. Packs were like an extended family. I often watched them on my assignments. I envied them having such ties to a community. It must be nice having people to support and love you like that. The hunting community was not as tight. we were not an extended family unit in any way. It was often frowned upon because a community took away our anonymity. we needed it to survive in both the human world and shifter world. At least that was what we were taught from an early age. Personally i think it was so we didn't mix with the humans and shifters diluting our pure hunter blood. It was bullshit. " this is agent five six two three. report to Desert Sun pack as soon as possible with report of possible shifter killing humans. remains found in the Desert. need assitance per alpha Gray. details sending now. good luck. be safe and check in every three days with updates. goodbye." the phone beeped indicating the conversation was now over. my phone pinged with an email. i went over the details of where to go and who to meet. I headed back home to shower and change and grab some clothes. Who knew how long it would take. I only knew i had to go now. It didn't take long to finsih packing. my flight left i two hours. I would be flying commercial first class. It was different than the usual priate planes I was used to. The one perk of being a princess. Only when I needed to blend in did I fly commercial. This was obviousy very serious. Once seated on the plane I pulled out my lap top while we waited for others to board. I was looking up all the info I could on the Desert Sun pack and Alpha Gray. Knowledge was power in my world and the more I knew the better off I was. It would be a six hour flight. It would give me time to pour over the files I had. It was a pack I had little interaction with. Usually this pack kept to themselves ina remote part of the desert not involving outside help with most matters. There had never been a need to keep tight tabs on them since there had been no concerns arising from them. This was bad if they were reaching out to the hunters. Most packs only did that when they were in dire need. I nderstood for the most part. I wouldn't want a hunter learning the inner workings of my pack or even staying amongst them. especially since we were tasked with hunting them. I closed my lap top when i felt us being pulled towards the runway. putting it away while the stewardess when on about safety. I looked aorund at the humans in peaceful bliss not even aware of the super natural world aorund them. Must be nice to go about their peaceful lives without the knowledge of some of the dangers that lurked out there. I closed my eyes waiting for take off. It was the one thing I hated about flying. I could hear the engines reving preparing to skirt down the runway. i was on my way and soon enough I would be emmersed in tracking and peicing together evidence.
I spent the time looking over the limited amount of info I was given in the file. what caught my eye was the photgraphs. three in total. ot much to go on but the markings on the remains is what caught my eye. if it were cult related it was something I had never seen before. I would need to research the symbols when I had internet. One downfall from flying commercial. No internet access. the symbol was odd. it peeked my curioustiy for sure. there were three stars over a creacent moon and underneath it a river and what seemed like a figure in the distance. Usually wolves did not mark their victims. was this there to throw me off and try to blame it on shifters? this had the potential to start a war with wolves and humans if they were to find out about the wolves and what would that mean when the discovery of other shifters and super naturals happened? It would be humans against the super natural world. Humans no doubt would lose. there was no match for most shifters and humans. Tough humans did have measn of protecting themselves and they didn't even know it. In a way it wold involve the hunters agianst the shifters as well since we were specifically there to protect humans first and foremost. There was something about the tattoos on their remains. something unsettling.
