CHAPTER FIFTEEN Stella walked down the corridor to her new apartment. This was only the second night that she’d spent in the rental, on the fifth floor of a building near the outskirts of downtown New Haven. It might be small, but it was all hers, paid for by her actual salary as an FBI agent. In a way, her career shift still felt like a dream, she thought as she reached into her purse for the keys. And she’d never expected to spend her first working day involved in a murder investigation.
