CHAPTER EIGHT Outside the Hartfords’ front door, Stella saw a sturdy, dark-haired woman had arrived. She was doubled over in hysterical tears. One of the detectives was holding her arm and she guessed that without this supportive grasp, the woman would have actually collapsed onto the immaculate slate paving stones. “This is Asoese Lee, the Hartfords’ housekeeper,” the detective muttered to Roth. Asoese looked to be in severe shock. Stella took her other arm and they guided the loudly sobbing woman inside, away from the curious stares of the onlookers. “Let’s sit you down in the lounge,” the detective decided, and they went through the double doorway into the ultra-modern lounge.
