Stella was busy with her third folder of the day when she heard a new set of footsteps rushing down the corridor.
After making a small check mark on the list with her pencil so that she could keep track of where she was in the complicated list of documents, she glanced up.
She felt pleased, but also apprehensive, when she saw Special Agent Rick Maxwell rush in.
The dark-haired, muscular and fit agent had been on Roth’s team when she’d joined them for the murder investigation a couple of weeks ago.
