Anaya's POV
"Father..." I muttered, shocked at what age just happened, he stumbled backwards and the bloodied dagger was still in my hands, everyone staring at me.
Olivia tore through the crowd and shook me vehemently.
"What have you done?" She whispered.
I couldn't say a word, I shook. The dagger was still in my bloodstained hands. Olivia pushed me aside and shook Father vehemently while crying profusely.
"Someone, save my Father please, please save him!" She cried desperately.
"Let me." I heard someone say.
It was the pack's healer, Susan. She squatted, muttered some incantations into her palm and placed it on his chest and closed her eyes, her lips were shaking but no words came out of it, with a loud voice she yelled and Father suddenly gasped. I suddenly regained my strength and rushed towards him.
Father struggled to breathe and he looked at me.
"Anaya..." He stammered.
All eyes were on me and I felt the world crash down on me and I lost my sense of hearing and the same time.
"Father." I gasped.
"She...she is.. she..." Father stammered.
I shoved Olivia aside, my face red with anger, guilt and oblivion.
"Here I am Father, it's Anaya, tell me.." I said desperately.
He opened his mouth to speak and then went completely numb and with that he dropped dead totally. Olivia pushed me away once more and began to shake him while calling out his name, I looked at the healer for help but she shook her head, I knew I was done for, who had dared to murder my Father or made him do it?
"Father." Olivia cried bitterly.
Caspian stepped in and separated her from Father's corpse and signalled for the guards to take him away, I suddenly sprang to my feet and charged at them.
"Do not dare touch my Father, he's not dead." I cried, not wanting to believe my eyes.
"Anaya, stop this!" Caspian ordered.
I was out of my mind, what the hell just happened, I disagreed with him and began to cause a scene but stopped when I was yanked away forcefully. I scrambled to my feet and held Olivia.
"Olivia stop them, tell them Father isn't dead," I said emotionally.
She raised her hand and slapped me hard across the face.
"Olivia," I whispered.
"How dare you call him Father after you murdered him!" She yelled.
"Murdered him? I did not, Olivia I swear on my life that I know nothing about this, why would I murder Father? He's our Father." I cried.
"Don't you dare! The murder weapon was found in your hands and his blood on your dress, aren't you ashamed? How could you do such a thing to him? To us? He's the only family we have left, how could you do such a thing?" She accused.
I shook my head vehemently.
"I didn't," I swore.
"You surely don't believe I can do this, do you? You're my sister, you should know me better!" I pleaded.
"I thought I did, henceforth I cease to have any relations with you. The only family I have is dead." She said, bitterly.
I was appalled, she began to cry and turned to leave, I tried to go after her but two guards suddenly held me back.
"What are you doing? Let go of me!" I barked.
"I'm sorry but the orders were to throw you into the dungeon for killing your Father." A guard said.
"What are you saying? I didn't kill my father." I cried.
"Those were the orders." He explained.
"Who gave them?" I bellowed.
"I did." Caspian signified.
I looked at him in disbelief.
"What do you mean? Caspian you surely don't believe..." I said, my voice trailing off.
"I'm sorry Anaya but you shouldn't have done this, you leave me no choice." He apologized.
My world came crashing down. He gave me one final look, took Olivia's hands, consoled her and waved for the guards to take me away. I screamed, yelled, cussed, cried and begged but I was forcefully thrown into the dungeon. I screamed at the top of my voice declaring my innocence but no one listened, I was all alone in the dark dungeon filled with the stench of dead rats and rotten things.
I gave up hours later and curled up like a ball in a corner and began to cry bitterly, today was supposed to be the happiest but my Father died in my arms and I'm accused of killing him, my sister hates me and my mate has abandoned me, it was ill luck, my fate. The night was the longest ever as the darkness seemed lighter than the one taking over my heart.
My chest felt heavy and I couldn't cry anymore as I had no strength left in me, I didn't know what to mourn, my father's death or my doom. There was no contact with the outside world or anyone until three days later. I was hungry, tired and sore from not being able to sleep. The doors opened and the rays of light threatened to blind me.
"Anaya?" I heard a familiar voice.
Strength arose in me and I rushed towards the door.
"Caspian." I cried.
He sighed and signalled for the guards with him to leave us alone. He unlocked the cabins I was bound with and set a tray of food before me and had the guards bring a huge box in before they left.
"You look terrible." He whispered.
I broke down and threw myself into his embrace, crying nonstop for half an hour while muttering that I didn't kill my Father, begging him to believe me.
"I know, I know you didn't do it." He said.
I looked at him with hope in my eyes.
"Yes I know, I've not been happy with you here but I hope you understand that I have to do this because of the people, I got some Intel that your Father had met with someone before coming here, I'll find out the true killer and make him pay for doing this to you but for now please bear with me and eat well. I brought you a change of dress as well, until all is settled, I'll have you taken care of here and this place will be renovated for you, the chains will be taken off as well." He explained.
I felt at peace that I wasn't alone.
"Olivia?" I asked curiously.
"She's still mourning, don't worry. I'll have her understand things, just eat and be fine." He promised.
I nodded, and with tears in my eyes, I began to eat.
