Part 3

The following day was silent. Sometimes some days followed a massive event that would be quiet and solemn, and Ian understood that. Saturdays were somber for him. He understood that most of his Alpha men were tired and needed some time for themselves, time to process and handle things in their ways, so he never pushed them. Something he learned from his father. Ian was busy checking the files for his upcoming project. Another seven-star hotel. He was excited to work on his project and not rely solely on his father's property. ‘Romanos Grand’ had been their white source of income ever since his father set up the hotel. It didn’t take a lot to become successful among the States, known for the expensive rooms and impeccable service. In the end, it would always be Sebastian Romano property. That’s why Ian decided to establish his Hotel with his hard-earned money. He had an eye on land ever since he was young. Ian, with the help of his lawyer, managed to make all the legal papers so it would avoid the hassle with opposing pack. Calvary's. Just thinking about them made his stomach turn. “Alpha?” A voice from the door interrupted his thoughts. Ian lifted his head only to stare at Jared, his beta. He was still standing in the door with a hesitant look on his face. Jared was holding a brown folder in his hand, which made Ian raise his brow. Did someone send something for him? “Come in.” Jared stood in front of him, “This is from our lawyer. The Calvary’s have sent another proposal. Nathan wants you to review it.” “Last time I checked Nathan is our lawyer why does he want me to do his work?” How many times does Ian have to reject their stupid proposition? He was tired of saying no to them. Nathan must be tired doing it on behalf of him. The point still stands. That family needs to take a hint. “He already read the proposal, but he wants you to read it too. Said that you might be interested this time.” Ian scoffed, “I highly doubt it. Throw it in the trash.” “But Alpha-” The Alpha gritted his teeth, raising his head at his beta in a menacing way. It was enough for Jared to take a step back. He rushed towards the trash can and dumped the file in. “Good. Any word from Alan?” Ian asked, folding his hands together and resting them on the table. He was interested in knowing how far did his men get after the information they got the previous night. “He said he’ll be back by around eight tonight with that omega. The location that Marcus gave is two hours away, so he had to drive all the way to get the omega” Ian nodded his head, letting each work sink. Ian was aware that they were in the wrong. He had no intention of harming the omega but only extracting money from her. The Alpha had been very patient with Marcus, but he had enough. Even if he can be considered a criminal for it, he didn’t care because most of the law officers were on his beck and call. They worshipped the ground he walks. “All right.” Ian nodded his head. “Did he take anyone else with him?” Jared nodded his head, “Yes, Alpha. He took Oli and Brian with him.” The Alpha hummed. Oli and Brian were Alphas, so he had nothing to worry about. They were built strong enough to take out an entire army all by themselves. Not to mention Alan was a skilled killer. “I wanted to go with them, but I have a duty today. Bar security” Jared let out a sigh. Ian sympathised with him. The bar security was always miserable for his men. They had to keep a lookout for all kinds of drunks and make sure that they don’t pull any kind of stunts. He was unlucky enough to witness few drunkards try to terrorise him, pointing their useless guns at him. Even though Ian slickly got rid of the situation, it made him aware that the security needed to be changed and increased. That is why he sends his trusted men to be there every night. “Good luck with that. And if you see my assistant on the way out tell him, he’s fired” Ian clenched his jaw, turning another page of his file. It was past noon, and his incompetent of an assistant didn’t even bother to show up. Ian despised that kind of behaviour. How can anyone forget their responsibilities? “He’s the second one this month!” Jared cried. “It’s not my fault they don’t know how to work” Ian innocently shrugged. “Right. Their fault. I’ll find someone new for you.” “That would be great. Thank you” Ian let out a sigh as Jared walked out. A few minutes later, he leaned back in his chair, staring at the painting hanging on his wall. It was strange, but it gave him a sense of comfort to be in his office. Ian created that office space all for himself to escape the harsh realities that came from doing all of the evil on a daily basis. The soft glow from the windows helped him clear his head and prepared himself for the day that would follow. It was his safe space. Most of them would prefer to go back to the packhouse, but Ian had his penthouse on the rooftop. He loved to stay there. His father had never needed anything like that, very content to come back home to his mate and his son. But Ian had none of those things. It didn’t bother him, though. No one would be able to fit in his world. His mate would leave him if she came to know about all the things he did in secret. All the dirty work he does for affluent Alphas. The constant cruelty and the never-ending rhythm of death and punishment would drive his mate away from him. Eventually, it would strain their relationship and break them as an individual. Not everyone is as lucky as his father and mother. They had their fair share of fights which is why he spent most of his childhood days with Sebastian’s family, his father's twin brother. It got better with time, and now they were happy. Ian wasn’t sure he would have the same happy ending. *** By the time the clock struck nine in the evening, Ian was done with his dinner. Before he realised the day had come to an end. He had no intention of going underground for another bar night. Instead of that, he slipped quietly into his office. There’s a record player which he adored more than anything. As he was an old soul, Ian put on the finest record he owned and sat back on his plush chair. His feet propped up, and he closed his eyes, letting the soft rhythm echo in his ears. The soft sounds of violins filled the space of his office and the bright full-moon light shining in through his skylight made it even more calming. “Boss?” A voice interrupted him. Ian sat up, glaring at the source of his voice. His door was closed because he didn’t want anyone to bother him. With a sigh, he motioned the person on the other side to step in. Jared had his lips pressed together, his arms crossed tightly like there’s something he’s worried about. Ian kept quiet, swivelling his chair so that he’s facing his beta. “Umm...Alan bought the omega.” “Is she awake?” “Yes,” Jared stuttered, staring at the ground instead, I meeting his eyes. What was his problem? He knew that Ian hated it when his men behaved in that manner. “Then what’s wrong? Take her Alphas details and call him up. You all know the procedure” Ian flared his nose. Jared shook his head, “There’s a problem, boss.” Ian sat up at that, shutting off his record player to fully concentrate on Jared. “What is the problem?” His beta swallowed noisily, “Alan...he...he got the wrong omega.” “What?!” Ian stood up, the chair making noise at the sudden movement. “Yes, Alpha. She’s an unmated omega.” “For f**k sake! Take me to her right now!” The Alpha growled. *** “This is the omega, boss" Jared breathed, nudging the girl with the toe of his boot. The omega hissed, flashing her baby blues at his beta, slurring out something unintelligible around the gag. The moment Ian noticed the Omega he's instantly captivated by her looks, at the way the sliver of light streamed over her face and shoulders. Few strands of her hair clung to the side of her face. She's tiny and delicate, almost harmless smudged all over with dirt. As she tried to wriggle out of her cuffs, his heart lurched forward. "Uncuff the omega and bring her to my room," Ian muttered, turning his back on her. The Alpha could hear the muffled curses aimed his way, but he walked away. *** Facebook: The Scripturient (Join “San_2045 squad”, a private group on f*******: to be the first one to know everything!)
