Part 9

Just a quick note: Railyn is held captive by her Alpha (Mates or not she has every right to be angry and threaten her kidnapper cause that’s how it goes. Just because Ian is her Alpha she’s not going to start worshipping him) *** Ian pushed open the door to Marcus room. The pathetic CEO was on the bed, tied to the post and staring at the paper in front of him. He had half-eaten breakfast on the nightstand. The Alpha would feel some kind of sympathy towards him, but he betrayed Ian in the worst way possible. That’s something Ian Romano never forgives. “Enjoying our time, aren’t we Marcus?” Ian sweetly asked Marcus jumped in the seat, his shackles clanging against the wall at the sudden movement. He shook his head and turned to face Ian, his lips quivering. That made Ian’s lips twitch. He loved seeing the fear in his opponents face. Made his Alpha proud. After he gave the name of his wife, Ian ordered for him to be transferred in one of their old hotel rooms. It was underground as well but on the other side of the bar. No one knew about these rooms. They were also missing from the blueprint. The only bar was shown. When their business flourished, Silas, Ian’s father kept on expanding the hotel. Few years went by, and they stopped using the east side of the ground altogether. The guests preferred luxurious rooms, so they converted the first half of the places and made it into the bar. Silas used the second half of the floor for his other business. Ian continued with that same tradition, only a lot harsher than his father. “I-Ian?” The Alpha shook his head, “Tsk tsk its Mr Romano or Alpha for you. You have lost every right to call me by my name. Only people close to me are entitled to do that.” He bowed down his head in shame. As if that would have any effect on Ian. The Alpha was past caring for the pathetic excuse of a wolf sitting in front of him. Not only did he take Ian’s money, but he was imposing them with stupid stuff. They could have almost got caught for k********g the wrong omega. Granted something like that never happened but it was a close call. It had been two hours since Railyn left, but Ian couldn’t stop thinking about her. He felt by talking with Marcus he would be able to feel something other than her thoughts. “Sorry, Alpha” Marcus mumbled, staring at the sheets in front of him. “Lately you have been saying that a lot Marcus. It has no meaning now” Ian rolled his eyes. Marcus made a hurtful sound. Ian roamed his eyes around, staring at the two men standing by the door. They were always there to guard Marcus because he was a sly fox in hiding. Ian did not trust him at all. That’s why his men were still standing there. It was also convenient as most of them stayed in the rooms nearby. They rarely went to the packhouse, preferring to stay in the hotel. “Now I’ll ask you this once, and I want an honest answer. Did you lie to us about your wife?” Ian narrowed his eyes at him. The Alpha was convinced that Marcus was trying to trick them somehow. There was no way Alan could commit such a mistake. His beta started working for Silas since he was only seventeen. Ian did not even know about his family’s shady business back then. Marcus widened his eyes, “No! Why would I do that?!” “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe to protect your worthy assets. It might be your plan.” “No no, you have to trust me Alpha.” Ian made a sound, “Trust you? I don’t make the same mistake twice, Marcus. Why would I trust you after you lied to us about your wife? My men had to suffer because of your pathetic lie.” “I did not lie. I told Alan about the jean jacket I gifted my wife. She wore that all the time and went to that same mall because it’s her favourite spot in the city. I am not lying.” He pleaded, his voice trembling. The Alpha glared at him. From the look on his face, it did seem like Marcus was not lying about that. Then how did his men make such a colossal blunder? He let it go because they were overworked, but it’s something he cannot let it slide smoothly. That’s when Ian recalled the outfit Railyn was wearing. She had the same jean jacket on. It can be a coincidence! That must be the reason they mistook her for Marcus wife. Even though that should calm Ian down, it didn’t sit right with him. He felt like something was missing. Ian flared his nose, “Fine! I will let you get away this once but consider this your final warning Marcus. One last chance to redeem your pathetic little life. Alan will be back in a few hours, and you are going to tell him everything. I mean everything.” “Y-Yes Alpha” He furiously nodded his head, a weak smile on his face. Ian ran a hand through the lapels of his blazer, a smirk playing on his lips. “Don’t feel happy just yet. If something goes wrong or any of my men get injured while this stunt consider yourself dead.” *** After Ian was done with Marcus, he went back to his office. He had to check on his hotel, but that’s something he could do through the laptop screen. The Alpha was no in the mood to interact with any stranger. He just wanted to be in his office and have some quiet time. Just then, his phone rang. He let out a sigh. So much for thinking he would have a quiet time. He lifted his phone from the desk and noticed the number flashed on the screen. A smile touched his lips at that. “Hello?” “Hello Ian” “Glad to know that I still exist for you.” Carter made an offending sound, “Come on! You know how busy I am with the twins. They are a handful.” Ian hummed, his grin widening. He never thought he would hear his brother say that. Carter and Amelia were blessed with twins, two healthy baby boys two months ago. They were on top of the world but also equally busy trying to handle their pack duties and kids. As Amelia was nesting no one attempted to invade her privacy, and Ian left their packhouse as soon as possible. He heard about the protective omegas and how they get after giving birth. Most of his family flew in to bless the couple. It was a fun reunion. “Yeah yeah I was kidding.” “So when is their favourite uncle coming to visit them again?” Ian felt his lips twitch, “Soon and beware; I am going to steal them.” “Haha I wouldn’t be against that, but I think you would have to fight Amelia.” A shudder passed through the mob boss as he remembered how Amelia single-handedly ended Seth Regio’s life. He would rather not fight with his sister in law who was too deadly. “I would rather not do that.” Carter heartily laughed, “Thought so. Anyways how are you? How is the pack?” “I’m fine and so are they” Ian mumbled, ever the quiet one. He didn’t like to talk about himself as much as he wanted to hear about others. Carter, however, makes him feel talkative. He has always done that from the beginning. “Always with the vague answers.” “What? Do you want me to send you an essay now?” “I wouldn’t be opposed to that.” Ian rolled his eyes, “Are you that bored? Be honest” “Yeah, that’s why I called you.” “Ouch stab a little harder, won’t you?” “Anyways I called you because Amelia wanted to throw a little get together. She’s been nesting for a while and wants to see other people who’s not me.” “Poor her! I can't imagine how she lived two months with you” Ian teased. “Hey!” “I am joking! Send me the invite, and I’ll be there.” Before he could Carter’s reply, there was a sharp knock on his office door. He pursed his lips to stare at the door only to notice one of his men, Max. Ian motioned him to come in. “Ian? Are you still there?” “Yeah sorry. What did you say?” “Are you busy? I can call you later.” Ian glanced at the Max, who was nervously shifting on his feet. Something must have happened. That’s the only explanation for his weird behaviour. “Uh...Sorry, but is it urgent?” Carter scoffed, “Nothing important. I’ll message you the details of the dinner.” “Okay” With that, Ian hung up the phone. He blinked at Max. “What is it?” Max chewed on his lips, “A-Alpha...Alan is back.” “And?” “He’s bleeding-” Ian stood up, cutting him off in the middle. His beta was injured! “What?!” “Yes, Alpha. The omega is also bleeding. They both are getting treated now.” “The omega?” Ian frowned in confusion. “Yes...Railyn. She got stabbed” *** Facebook: The Scripturient (Join “San_2045 squad”, a private group on f*******: to be the first one to know everything!) Instagram: San_2045
