When they all are settled in, Maisie takes out the map, she is expecting to see a cross near Lake Tahoe, but the map gets bigger, to her surprise. Every time they reach a point on the map, it looks like it will lead them to another point. This is strange. It is like the map is magical. It grows. She looks at the next cross on the map. She draws the map again on the vellum paper and draws the new piece of the map. She places it over the map of America. It looks like their next stop is Mummy Mountain, near Las Vegas. Maisie knows that Dora will be in her element as they will have to stay in Las Vegas. How far will they have to travel? How big will this map get? Maisie is confused. Rufus is taking a bath, and Stew is ordering food. Dora is out somewhere, and she does not know how long it will take for Dora to come home. Dora will have to explain this map to her. Rufus and Stew walk into the little sitting room. They look at Maisie, who has the map in her hands. It looks bigger than before. Maisie shows them the map, and the two young wolves are surprised. How did it grow?
"The map must be magical. I don't know how much bigger it will get or how long we will be on the road," Maisie says. She is worried. What if it takes them years? She can not wait that long to save her pack. Her uncle is busy killing off her loyal members, and he is replacing them with rogues. She has to do it soon. They can not stop at every mark on the map for a few days. They will have to stop and go again the following day. Dora has a feeling that there must be another map somewhere. Dora has a feeling that the other map must go to Markus and Norma. The other map is leading to something else. It is leading to something good. She feels the map they are following leads to doom, and she can not shake that feeling.
Dora does not go drinking. First, she needs to find Markus and Norma. She can feel Norma's power. She traces it, and soon she is with the two young wolves. She walks over to them, where they are sitting in a restaurant eating. Markus sees Dora coming and orders a bottle of vodka. When Dora gets to their table, the bottle of vodka also arrives, and Dora smiles. Markus knows her by now.
"Hi, you two. I have a feeling there is another map. It is not the map we are following. You will need to find the map and follow this map to save your mate. Before you complain, listen to me. The map we are following has a bad vibe to it. This map you need to find is the cure to whatever we will find at the end of our journey. Markus, you and Norma have to figure out where this map is and follow it. I have a feeling this will be the only way you will be able to save your mate," Dora says. Norma thinks about it, and she agrees there must be another map, and she feels the same as Dora. It will help them defeat whatever evil is waiting for Maisie, Stew, Rufus, and Dora. As soon as Markus thinks about another map, he feels a draw to the map. He knows this is his destiny, but he does not want to leave his mate alone. What if something happens to her?
"Do not worry about your mate. I will look after her. It would be best if you got this treasure, so when we need you, you will be ready," Dora says, and Markus knows the old drunken witch is right. He has not said a word yet, and Dora and Norma look at him in concern. What if he refuses and they have nothing to fight, whatever is at the end of the evil map? Markus will have to do it. They have no choice. Norma and Dora feel great evil. Evil can destroy the world, and they can not have it.
"Okay, Norma and I will go and look for the other map. I feel something is drawing me to another part of America," Markus agrees reluctantly. He does not like his mate being in danger.
"I promise you I will look after the three. Don't you worry about them! I love them like my own children, and I will not let you down, Markus," Dora says. She drinks the vodka while talking to them. She may be a drunk, but she is a powerful witch. She knows how to get out of trouble and how to keep the three young wolves out of trouble. She loves them with her whole heart.
"I will kill you if anything happens to Maisie," Markus says, and he and his sister get up. They need to figure out where this map is and get to this treasure as soon as possible. They may need what is at the end of the other map faster than they think. Markus and Norma decide to leave immediately as they have no time to waste. They need to find the other map, follow it, and get whatever is at the other map's end. They need to find a good treasure that can save the lives of many innocent people, including Maisie, Rufus, Stew, and Dora. Dora sits in the restaurant. Markus has already paid the bill, and she drinks her bottle of vodka. She knows she can not stop the three young wolves. They want the treasure, and they want to save their pack. She needs to go with them to protect them. She hopes she can slow them down a bit. She will try her best until Markus gets what he will need to defeat the evil at the end of their journey. She will try her best, but she also knows that Maisie is in a hurry to save her pack and will not let her slow them down for too long. She can always pretend to be sick. She is sure it will not work, though.
Dora goes out looking for a bar where she can drink and think for a while. She loves the kids, but they can be so loud, and she needs some quiet to think for a bit. Her head hurting does not help her either, and she needs to drink to think straight again. She gets to a quiet little bar at the end of a street. She sits and drinks by herself, and she thinks. She needs a plan, but all she can think about is trying to play sick.
In the hotel room, Maisie, Stew, and Rufus are eating. They are always hungry, and they love eating all the food they have never tried before. Tonight they ordered chicken, pasta, steak, lobster, and other kinds of seafood. They have never eaten seafood before, and they all hope they are not allergic to some of it. Maisie loves lobster. Stew is eating some fish and prawns. Rufus sticks to chicken and steak. To him, the seafood looks too much like bugs. He does not like bugs. He smells nice after his bath, and the other two young wolves can not believe Rufus is this clean. He usually hates to be clean. They are not complaining at all. They like this nice clean Rufus. They now have a lot of money from the coins, but it will not be enough to hire some outstanding fighters. They need more money.
Stew grabs a piece of chicken and starts chewing on it. Maisie is trying to convince Rufus to try a lobster, and in the end, he tries a piece. It is nice. He loves it, and soon the butter sauce is dripping down his chin. He takes a napkin and cleans his mouth. He loves this new kind of food he is trying, and soon he is eating prawns. They enjoy their supper, and soon they are all full. After that, they lie around lazily. Maisie is happy. She is glad she could give her best friends a good time. Even if she fails in defeating her uncle, at least the three of them had some delicious meals.
"I am so full I feel like I am pregnant," Rufus says. They all laugh as they can not imagine Rufus being pregnant.
"I am full as well, and my eyes are getting heavy. I am going to take a shower," Stew says. Maisie also gets up to take a long hot bath. As she is lying in the bathtub, she thinks of her mate. He is as hot as hell. She needs to forget about him right now. She can not think of him. She is on a mission to save her pack. She can not be distracted. She is tired and gets out of the bath. She goes to stand in front of the window, looking at the mountains. She all of a sudden feels like something sweet and looks at the menu for deserts. She walks out of her room and calls the other two wolves.
"What now?" Stew asks. Rufus stands there looking at Maisie.
"I feel like something sweet. How about some pudding?" She asks, and the two smile. Pudding! They never got some sweets at the pack. Why have they not thought about it earlier? They order chocolate pudding, apple pie, and cake. They sit in the room, waiting for the desert to come, and Rufus can not help himself. He eats another lobster. As soon as their pudding arrives, the three of them eat the pudding. They are in heaven. They wanted to wait for Dora to return, but soon they all were so tired of eating they went to bed.
Maisie is sleeping when she finally hears Dora coming in. She is usually a light sleeper and used to not sleeping for long hours. She looks at the time. It is three o'clock in the morning, and she giggles a bit. Three o'clock is known as the witch's hour. Ironically, Dora will come home at three o'clock. She gets up to make sure Dora is okay. She loves the witch. She sees Dora eating, and she is happy. Dora enjoys seafood. She will order more of it in the future. She wants Dora to eat. She walks over to Dora, where she is busy eating.
"Dora, the map has grown. We will have to head to Las Vegas in the morning," Maise says and shows Dora the map.
"Hmm, it is magical. Las Vegas, the city of sin. I love it. I will be ready early so we can leave early. It is about a seven-hour drive from here. I can not wait to see Las Vegas again. It is where I met my no-good of a husband that left me. We got married there," Dora says as she looks into space. Is that why Dora is so sad all the time? Is that why Dora drinks all the time? Does she miss her husband? Maisie wonders. She feels sorry for her old mother.
She puts the map on America's map and shows Dora that the map leads to Mummy Mountain. Dora is impressed by the skills of this young wolf. She wants to go to Las Vegas and decides to fake her illness in Las Vegas. She wants them to stay there for a few days. Dora wants to give Markus and Norma a chance to get the other map and the other treasure before finding what is at the end of their treasure map. Dora goes to take a shower. Maisie goes to bed, and she hears as Dora passes out and snores. She knows they will not get away from here early the following day. Dora will sleep late as usual.
