"What is that awful stench?" Old mother Dora is rudely awakened by a stench she never experienced before in her life. She reaches for her vodka bottle and takes a sip. It feels like the stench is even in her mouth. She needs to get it out!
"Sorry," Rufus says. He is blushing. He tried to hold in the fart, but he could no longer hold it, and they could not leave the cave. What else was he supposed to do? Maisie and Stew are glaring at him. One should think they are used to his frats by now.
"Wow, I once passed out while at a rock concert next to the drummer, and he could not even wake me up with his drums, but one fart from you can wake me up in a heartbeat!" Mother Dora says, giggling.
"I could not hold it in anymore. We were trapped in the cave the whole day, and I could not go outside. I am sorry for waking you up, mother Dora," Rufus says. Mather Dora laughs. She takes another sip of the bottle in her hand. She speaks a few words, and Rufus and Stew turn into girls. Maisie laughs her ass off. They are two ugly girls. Dora looks at her and speaks a few words, and Maisie turns into a boy. It is now Rufus and Stew's turn to laugh.
"Hey, why did you do that, Mother Dora," Maisie asks.
"Well, we need to get going, or we can stay in the stinking cave for the rest of the day. I disguised you so that nobody would recognize you. Unfortunately, we may come across your pack. They are still looking for you, remember?" Old mother Dora says.
"Yeah, thank you. You think of everything, and I can only thank the Moon Goddess for sending you on our path. Without you, we would have been caught by now and beaten half to death, Mother Dora," Maisie says. She laughs at her voice. It sounds like a boy's voice.
"Okay, let's get moving. My town is not far from here, and I do have a car parked near the road, I think. Unfortunately, I got so drunk last night I had to pull over and look for a place to sleep. Luckily for you three, I ended up in the cave, where you came to rest," Mother Dora says, smiling. She feels so sorry for the three orphans. She speaks a few words again, and all the beds and clothes and leftover food disappear.
Maisie grabs the backpack with the chest in it, and they all walk out of the cave. Mother Dora makes sure nothing of the three orphans is left in the cave. She does not want that awful uncle of Maisie's to find them. They walked to the road, and a few wolves approached them. At first, the three young wolves want to run, but Mother Dora gives them a look and shakes her head. They keep walking with her as if they do not know the wolves. They are coming closer to them. The leader of the pack is the Alpha, Maisie's uncle. They are in human form.
"Sorry kind people. Have you maybe seen three young children running past you?" Maisie's uncle, Alfred Davids, asks with a kind voice. She feels the disgust in her stomach but keeps her face straight.
"Good day, Sir, no, we have not. My two daughters, my son, and I just came for a stroll this morning. Are the children missing?" Mother Dora asks with a concerned look on her face.
"Yes, they went missing last night, and we are worried," Alfred says. Maisie looks at him but still keeps her face straight. He is pretending to be concerned. He makes Maisie sick.
"Well, we saw nothing when we went for our morning stroll. I hope wild animals did not get a hold of them. They say there is a lot of wolves in this woods," Mother Dora plays her part.
"Well, then, thank you for your time. We will keep searching and hope we find them alive," Alfred says, and he and his warriors, primarily rogues, walks off back into the woods. The three of them walk to the road. Soon they find the old witch's car and get in. By now, Mother Dora had a few too many sips of vodka.
Dora starts driving, and the three young wolves have to hold on for dear life. Stew screams, his girly voice sound high-pitched, and Maisie has to cover her ears. As Dora is all over the road, Rufus wants to piss his pants and has to hold it in.
"Can't one of us drive, Mother Dora? We learned to drive from a young age," Maisie asks.
"No one but me drives old Daisy," Mother Dora says. She is driving faster, and Maisie starts praying to the Moon Goddess to keep her and her two friends safe. Luckily for them, the town is not far, and as they stop in front of an old house, the three wolves jump out, and Rufus vomit. That was one hell of a drive. They go into the house, and Mother Dora walks to the kitchen. She opens her fridge. There is no food in her fridge, only vodka. She takes out a bottle and opens it. She does not even bother with a drinking glass and drinks straight from the bottle again. She speaks a few words, and a meal appears on the table.
"Eat young ones. After that, you can show me the map you have," Mother Dora says. So the three young wolves eat. They are hungry again. They never had so much food in a long time.
"You are truly our savior," Stew says with a mouth full of food. Mother Dora smiles happily. She enjoys getting to look after the three scrawny-looking young kids. She sees the blisters on their hands and the marks of the last beating they received. She also knows that the pack gave them wolfsbane for them to take longer to heal. She speaks a few words again, and the wolfsbane is out of their blood. The wounds start healing, and she smiles as Rufus, Maisie, and Stew, look up in surprise. They can hear their wolves again.
"Thank you. We were not able to heal or hear our wolves. How did you fix it?" Rufus asks Mother Dora. Even when they turned into their wolves, their wolves were weak. Their wolves only talked to them when they were in wolf form.
"That old crooked uncle of Maisie's kept wolfsbane in your blood. I just removed it. I think he was afraid of Maisie's wolf. But, I can feel the strength of her wolf. She speaks a few words again, and they change back to their old selves. Maisie is relieved she thought she might have to stay a boy for the rest of her life.
"The wolves will not come into our town. They are afraid of our Witch's Council," Dora says, and she quickly goes out of her house to talk to the council about the three wolves in her home. Soon the council arrives with her, and they look at the scrawny young wolves. They knew Maisie's father. He was good to the witches and never made any trouble for them. So the witches say the three young wolves can stay. They are no threat to them, and they are old friends' children. Dora is relieved. Since Maisie's uncle took over the pack, there are no good feelings between the witches and the wolves.
She and the three young wolves say nothing about the treasure map, though. It is their secret. It is their adventure. The four of them had complicated lives, and they would not share their treasure with anyone else. After the witches leave, Maisie takes out the treasure chest and the map. Dora looks at it. It is ancient. The coins must be valuable, as well. They can use the coins to pay for their trip around the country in search of this treasure. She is excited. She has never been on an adventure trip before, and these kids are so sweet to want to share it with her. She will help them, and together they will find someone to help them fight Alfred Davids and his rogues and give Maisie her pack back again. She is the rightful Alpha. Other wolfpacks are friends with the witches, and maybe they can hire some of them to help Maisie take her pack back.
They will rest a few days, and she will get the scrawny young wolves back to their old selves. They need lots of food and rest. She knows they will be back to their old self in a few days under her watch. The three young wolves enjoy life in the town of the witches. Sometimes the wolves come into the town to trade with the witches. The witches will help them fight against other dark magic creatures, and they, in return, will take care of the rogues around the witches' town.
One day Maisie, Rufus, and Stew are walking in town. A big wolf pack is in town. The Red Moon Pack, the witches, helped them take out a warlock that made trouble for them. Maisie turned eighteen the day before, and mother Dora gave her a big birthday party. Dora passed out like usual, but Maisie still enjoyed her birthday. She had a cake, and Dora gave her a few new dresses. The wolves have filled out nicely. Soon they will leave to go on their adventure. The three are excited. They are only worried about driving with Dora behind the steering wheel around the country in search of treasure.
The three are standing staring at the SUVs that are parked in front of the Witch's Council. They have heard about the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. He is tall, dark, and handsome. He is rich, and although he is already twenty-three, he has not found his mate yet. Every she-wolf in the country hopes that it will be her. Even old fat princess Candy, as they call Candice, wishes to meet him and be his mate. Maisie is probably the only she-wolf in the country that does not want a mate right now, and not someone is known as Markus Blackwell from the Red Moon Pack. They say he is ruthless, and he always gets what he wants. He always pays his debt, and that is why he is here right now. He is returning a favor. He killed a bunch of rogues that kept trying to enter the town.
"I wonder if he is as strong as they say he is," Rufus says.
"I bet he is, and look at all his cars. He must be wealthy. They say he has not found his mate yet. What if you are his mate, Maisie?" Stew asks Maisie.
"Don't be stupid. I don't want a mate right now. I want to go on our adventure! Let's go before he and his men come out," Maisie says and starts walking away.
"Mate!" She hears a deep growl coming from the Witch's Council. She smells coffee. Strong white creamy coffee. It makes her mouth water. She looks over her shoulder to where the growl came from and the wonderful smell.
"Mate!" Her wolf growls in her head.
"Oh, hell, no!" Maisie says as she sees the big man walking towards her. A bloody mate is not going to steal her adventure from her. So Maisie starts running like there are seven devils behind her.
"Stop!" The big man shouts, but Maisie runs for her life, straight into Dora's house.
"Mother Dora, help! Hide me!" She shouts, and Dora, who is half drunk, is frightened sober. She says she does not know what is going on and cast a spell to hide Dora. After a while, a big man bursts into the house. He could have sworn he saw the young she-wolf come in here!
"Where is she?" He asks the old drunken witch.
"Who?" Dora asks, keeping herself stupid.
"The young girl that ran in here just now?" Markus is getting irritated. He has been looking for his mate for years, and now she runs away for him and hides!
"I don't know what you are talking about, young man," Dora says. Markus knows the witches, and he knows if they don't want to talk, you can torture them as you like. They will keep quiet. He will watch this old witch for a couple of weeks. Sooner or later, his mate will show herself, and even if he has to chase her all over the world, he will find her.
"Tell my mate I will find her sooner or later. I know you are hiding her old witch, but I will find her," Markus says as he walks out.
