Dear Mr. Hades

Valentines’ Day in Hades’s World

Canary Wharf, London, UK

All the employees greeted THE CEO Mr. Hades to which he gave a slight nod as he went towards his private elevator along with his business associate Mr. Williams. The elevator pinged on the 36th floor….he made his way towards the CEO's office …..as soon as he opened the door he was greeted with the fresh scent of flowers arranged neatly around his office….he gritted his teeth inwardly…. After inviting Mr. Williams in he called for his PA.

A(Adine): Goodmorning Gentlemen…(to which both replied) Mr. Hades you called for me?

A (Alexander): Yes Ms. Cerillo (gritting his teeth) may I know why there are flowers in my office.

A(Adine): Oh...that...actually Sir….

A (Alexander): Yes Ms. Cerillo I'm all ears.

A(Adine): Ah...well….Sir….they are from different business associations, banks, clients as a token of love as it is valentine's day today. Happy Valentines Day Mr. Hades.

A (Alexander): Same to you Ms. Cerillo….BTW I want all these flowers donated to orphanage & old homes.

A(Adine): That is very nice though Mr. Hades…. I'll arrange it right away.

A (Alexander): Thank you Ms. Cerillo….you are dismissed.

With that Adine left & Alexander resumed his meeting with Mr. Richards. After about 1 n ½ hr later Mr. Richards was gone. It was just the beginning of his hectic day but Alexander was already feeling exhausted. He went near the window & gazed downwards to the beautiful garden of his office premises.

ALEXANDER HADE's POV:

Valentine's Day….the day to celebrate love…. blah ….blah...blah….do people really realize that instead of celebrating some overrated day by making some businessmen's pockets heavier they could just donate that money & help some people. But no, they have to celebrate THE DAY OF LOVE…. seriously LOVE…..as in 1 partner LOVE the another….people are so selfish these days they find convenience in relationships & name that LOVE…..that 4 letter L word….L….O…..V….E which is truly a divine emotion…. I once experienced...or so I thought I've had….the only thing that I thought was without cost….but who am I kidding there is nothing that comes without cost in this world….love will cost you into heartbreaks…..n believe me heartbreaks are tough ones…..your partner will cheat on you, leave you, use you for money….will fall out of love with you, abuse you n the list goes on….(looking downwards) look at this garden….so damn beautiful….full of flowers…. resembling LOVE…. Never thought that someday I'll hate this garden which was a gift from my oh so doting wife Victoria. I wonder if I'd have been that happy if I had known this day would come along in my life?

FLASHBACK OF 12 YEARS AGO:

CEO's OFFICE HADES CORPORATION:

There was a knock on the door.

A (Alexander): Come in….Vic...you...aren't you supposed to take rest? We have a date tonight. 

V (Victoria): Good Afternoon & Happy Valentines Day to you too Xander….can't I visit my husband's office?

A (Alexander):  Of course you can. But Vic what brings you here? You should rest coz we have a lonnnnggg night (winking at her)

V (Victoria): (slapping on his chest settling herself on his lap) You have such a 1 track mind, Mr. Hades.

A (Alexander): & whos fault is that Mrs. Hades? (pecking her lips)

V (Victoria): (blushing) Oh Xander...what do I do with you? Now before I forget let me tell you I brought lunch.

A (Alexander): (exploring her body inside her dress) mmm...very delicious lunch I must say….

V (Victoria): Xanderr….

Soon they were lost in the world of passion. After an hr they both were exhausted….they got up to get dressed n eat their lunch. 

V (Victoria): Ummm...Xander?

A(Alexander): Yes Vic?

V (Victoria): Don't you want any gift from me on Valentine's day?

A (Alexander): Vic you being with me is 1 of the best gifts I get on an everyday basis. You're 1 of the best things that has ever happened in my life.

V (Victoria): same her Xander….you're the best I could get. Now tell me do you want something from me?

A (Alexander): So you've got me a gift….well….well now I'm excited….come on show me my gift.

V (Victoria): Oh...Xander, you're such an impatient soul.

A (Alexander): That I'm. Now come on show me.

V (Victoria): (holding his hand taking him towards the window) Xander looked downwards.

A (Alexander): Woah….Vic….how? When?

V (Victoria): Remember months back I asked for this little land behind the premises? (To which he nodded)....I wanted it for making this garden for you.

A (Alexander): I just love it. Thank you Vic...I… really don't know what to say? (Kissing her cheek)

V (Victoria): You're welcome Xander.

A (Alexander): BTW I want to know why this garden?

V (Victoria): Ummm…..well Xander I've noticed that you like to come n stand by the window when you're exhausted or you need to think something… So I thought it'd better if there is something soothing that will relax your mind….hence flowers…. Plus this garden will remind me of you of me when I'm not around. So when past 2 months you were on your business trip I got it done coz I know by today you'd be back.

A (Alexander): Hmmm….such a charmer you are my doting wife….this garden will always remind me of you.

V (Victoria): That's the plan….so I guess my gift is a hit?

A (Alexander): Yes Darling its supper hit….n I promise that I'll make sure the garden will be taken care of as long as I work here as the CEO…

END OF FLASHBACK

His trance got broken by the knock on the door. He got back to his chair n asked the person to come in. 

A(Alexander): What do you want Adi?

A(Adine): Papa why do I feel you're mad @ me?

A(Alexander): Seriously Adi?

A(Adine): Papa, please...

A(Alexander): Please what?

A(Adine): Please stop running away….running away from love.

A(Alexander): Oh am I'm running away my dear daughter? So tell me where is my lady love? Is she planning a surprise for me this f**king Valentine's Day, is it?

A(Adine): Papa please, I know you're hurt….but there is some1 out there who will take care of your heart….like it should be taken care of….I believe she is there n you'll meet her soon….n you know what running away from romantic things ...flowers...Valentine's Day won't get you anywhere. By torturing yourself you're giving the person who hurt you the power over you, you're choosing that person over those who care for you, who wants you to be happy. I don't know about others but I love you very very much….even I'm not your blood but I do love you you'll always be my Papa.

A(Alexander): I love you too sweetheart….n honestly you'll always be my daughter for me. 

A(Adine): Ohk...so please listen to this daughter of yours give love a 2nd chance?

A(Alexander): I will….only if you can give love a 2nd chance...now can you?

A(Adine): Papa….

A(Alexander): I know after what my i***t son did to you...it is hard to give love a 2nd chance…..but can you do it?

A(Adine): You're right Papa….I should move on…..I should get over…..him….

A(Alexander): See you can't even take his name.

A(Adine): (gritting her teeth) Who said I can't? You just said I'm your daughter right? Then along with my fav twins….that i***t son of yours...Mr. Rey Amand Hades is also my brother no? There I said it….n for your kind information I've got a date tonight….I'm going out with Antonio

R(R): (clenching his jaw)You're extremely delusional Miss Cerillo.

A(Alexander): Hello to you too son.

Rey came n hugged his dad.

A(Adine): (in a cold tone) Good Afternoon Mr. Hades.

R(Rey): Good Afternoon Miss Cerillo...before you move from here...let me clarify you some facts to you, which you seem to be delusional of….Samuel n Amelia are enough for me, I do not need another sibling...certainly not you….n you're not going anywhere with that...bas….erm...I mean man Antonio...you're going to be my date for tonight to the party my mother has arranged.

A(Adine): I'm sorry Mr. Hades the only 1 living in delusion here is you….because I under no circumstances am going to be your date, not tonight….not ever.

R(Rey): You're attending the party with me Miss Cerillo….I'm your boss here n it is an order...

A(Adine): Excuse me Sir but I work for the CEO Mr. Alexander William Hades...n I only take his order….so Boss (turning to Alexander) do I need to accompany your son tonight?

A(Alexander): No Miss Cerillo after office hours you're free to go anywhere you please...in fact do 1 thing take an early leave today….so that you can prepare for your date.

A(Adine): Thank you Sir….I'll take your leave now.

With that, she left the father-son duo.

R(Rey): What was that Dad?

A(Alexander): What was what son?

R(Rey): You know exactly what I'm talking about.

A(Alexander): Doesn't matter son…. let's talk about the business which brought you here…

R(Rey): Dad….I just wanted to meet you.

A(Alexander): To be more specific, to check on me? Son don't you think in order to fix it, you've broken something way too beautiful n important? Look son if you still want to repeat those same boring lines in this regard then, better you don't say anything.

R(Rey): let's spend time together? (gritting his teeth) I'm sure that your PA can cancel your engagements...I think she'd be more than happy to do that...as she could get more time to prepare for her date.

A(Alexander): (chuckling) Let's go.

With that, they went to spend Father-Son time.

LATER THAT EVENING:

Like every year Victoria arranged a ball for Valentine's Day...it was 1 of the renowned event, all the elites were invited….all of the guests were appreciating Victoria's effort to make it an enjoyable romantic evening for them...people were also talking about Alexander n Victoria….how they were so much in love with each other…..they were acting all lovey-dovey in front of the guest… Alexander went with the flow…. Victoria dragged Alexander to a corner….

A(Alexander): What is Mrs. Hades?

V(Victoria): Come on Xander….@least now call me Vic like you used to call me

A(Alexander): Seriously??

V(Victoria): Come on Honey...we're married…(seductively touching him)

A(Alexander): (removing her hands) Get your hands off me please...

V(Victoria): Come on Xander….every1 was saying I'm looking hot….remember you used to die on my charms…

A(Alexander): Exactly...I used to….that was in the past….now I'm not a bit interested in you….can you see that blond over there….she looks hotter than you….so should I go n f**k her?

V(Victoria): You can not insult me like this.

A(Alexander): You know what I just did

With that he left an infuriated Victoria n joined the party. For Alexander that Valentine's Day ended in exhaution….he was extremely exhausted by by the facade of a happy marriage, where they were a lovey dovey couple, where he can not get enough of his wife, who blushes like a teenager even after so many years of marriage…

ALEXANDERS POV:

Finally...finally the day is over...what a sham...it was...I'm so glad that I got through it….huh...that Victoria….what does she think of herself….by looking se*y n all she'll get me to bed n we'll be good? Huh...I so wish she divorces me, but no she loves the so called Mrs. Hades title so much that she wont divorce me, I'd have divorced her only if I didn't make a promise to her all those years ago, shy cant she releases me of it…. it's not like we love each other anymore….why continue with this facade?...no being the selfish person she is she won't let go of this sham of a marriage of ours….I feel suffocated….I so wish there was an escape…. I so wish for a miracle…..a miracle that would get me out of this….I so wish that Almighty sends some Angel to get me out of it...Amen

With that, he called it a night….with a hope that Almighty might send an Angel to his rescue.
