Chapter 9

1002 Words

Jake's POV I can't believe she's back, but she clearly isn't interested in me. I can't handle more drama like with Heidi and Brenda; I've had enough for a lifetime. "Heidi, you didn't tell me the gym teacher was hot," Bianca says to Heidi as they approach our table. Brenda and Chase are missing, likely making out somewhere. There's a seat for Brenda, and even Dianne is at our table, sitting in Tyrell's lap. Heidi sits next to me, leaning against my arm. Logan is absentmindedly playing with his food, and Kevin looks depressed on the field. I can't blame him; the girl he likes is with someone else. I see Vanessa looking lost at a random table, so I get up and approach her. "Want company?" I ask. She shrugs and bites into her hamburger. I take a seat, interpreting her shrug as a yes.
