"I got to tell you something", he says.

"I'm not interested", I say.

"it will just take a second", he says.

I sigh, "go on."

"I like you and for a long time as well", he says and I just stare at him.

Jake James, heir to the Montez industries like me? Me, Vanessa Thomas.

Meet me - Vanessa Thomas - the definition of a nerd. Quiet, shy, a bookworm, I've got all the 'geeky' traits. And then there's Jake.

Jake James - the definition of perfect. Handsome with his chocolate hair and entrancing weapons known as his eyes. Not to mention popular and captain of the football team.

But sadly with a hot guy, there's a stalker - this stalker being Heidi. She stands at the top of the social hierarchy.

Heidi is the dictionary denotation of what you would call a 'Queen Bee'. A person who latches and grows from the attention of others.

The school 'Queen Bee' Heidi fawns over Jake, as if he's hers - yet she gains no attention. And for the essential growth that Heidi needs for optimum popularity, she'll do anything.

And I mean absolutely anything...

Chapter 1
Please check out Being His Fake Girlfriend on my other profile Geneedwards    __________ Vanessa POV "I heard that Heidi is the new captain," Dianne - my friend - says as we walk to class. "No surprise there, she's been working for that position since middle school," I say, opening the door to the lab. "I still don't understand how Jake and her aren't together... they won Prom King and Queen last year," Dianne says. "Maybe Heidi isn't really his type," I respond - my best friend chuckling. "I still don't understand though. Look... Brenda and Logan are the golden couple." Dianna says. "It's got to be Heidi and Jake I mean come on!" "...Maybe they're aren't meant to be," I suggest, taking a seat. "Speaking of the devil," Dianna mumbles at their entrance. 'Their' being Heidi, Jake, Logan, Brenda and Kevin - the 'populars'. Jake's seat is next to mine, ever since 4th grade. We're mostly in the same classes. "Hi Vanessa," he smiles, sitting down. I blush, "Hi," I reply shyly. Heidi's heated gaze burns from two desks away. "So, how was your weekend?" Jake asks, attempting to make small talk. "Fine," I mumble. He keeps smiling at me - eyes an undecided blue - making me feel slightly uncomfortable. "Why are you staring at me like that?" I ask. "N-nothing," he stutters as he looks away, blushing. He's blushing? I look over to where Heidi is and see her throw one of her infamous death stares. "Man she's got some boy issues," Dianne whispers from behind me, causing me to snicker. "Who?" Jake asks, turning to us. "Your girlfriend who you were allegedly dating since sophomore year, after she dumped that dude," Dianne smirks, tilting her head at Heidi before pointing to someone else seated in the class. Jake laughs, "You mean that hoe who dates guys just to sleep with them... yeah I heard about her and I am CERTAINLY not interested." He reassures. My mouth hangs open in shock as the most popular guy at school just called Heidi the - 'Queen Bee' - a hoe. Never in my school life here have I witnessed a guy apart from him gain enough courage to say that about her. I'm sure even guys from other schools have never said anything like that about her before. "Oh really... well we've got to break the news to her then," Dianne says and I sigh. She's up to something. "And Di, my friend Kevin likes you, just to let you know," Jake says turning around to Dianne. "Well... tell your friend that I like someone else," Dianne replies. "Who?" Jake and I ask simultaneously before looking at each other. "Just a certain guy on the football team. Luscious dark brown hair and gorgeous gray eyes," she replies smoothly yet dreamily. "Dark brown hair hmm... " he ponders, tapping his chin. "Ahhh!" Jake mumbles, "Is it Tyrell?" He asks, Dianne blushing. "...Maybe—," she mumbles. "—But please don't tell him," she adds. Silence envelopes the table, Dianne looking at Jake with puppy eyes. Jake finally concedes, "Okay, but it's going to cost you," he teases. "Urgh fine. What's the catch?" Dianne inquires. "All you need to do is go on one date with Kevin, decide if you want to go on another date eventually and I'll keep my mouth shut," Jake says.- our teacher asks and truth be told, I didn't even see him walk in. "No Sir," Dianne replies. "Mr. James?" "Yes, did you get a new haircut?" Jake asks. The teacher touches his head as he answers, "Actually yes... yes I did, than—" "—'Cause it looks worst than before!" Logan says, interrupting our teacher - catalyzing everyone's laughter. Kevin high-fives him and Brenda simply rolls her eyes. "...Well Logan, since you decided to offend me, I'll give you detention after school," Mr. Dickson says. "Okay Mr. d**k– I mean Sir," Logan replies. "Good. Now take out your homework," Sir says. "I swear I put it in here," Jake says, rummaging through his bag. Someone taps my shoulder and I turn my head, "Give this to Jake," she says. I take the folded paper and put it on Jake's desk as he instantly passes it to the nerd seated beside him - Cody. Cody opens it, smiles and sends a kiss to Heidi. I smirk as she glares at me, turning away in disgust. "Got it!" Jake exclaims as he put his papers on the desk. "Now hand in your work," Mr. Dickson says, walking around the classroom. "I'll take that, thank you," he says, taking Heidi's phone. "But Sir, I have to text my friend about the biggest party of the year," she pouts. "Do that in your time, not during mine," he growls - Jake chuckling softly. "Some teacher huh?" Jake whispers to me and I nod. ———————————————————————————————————————— Jake "Hiiiiii Jakey," Heidi purrs as I walk to the cafeteria. "Yes Heidi?" I sigh. "I totally like saw you chatting with Vanessa in Mr. d**k's class earlier—," she says, fiddling with her acrylic nails. "Such incredible observations! I'm impressed," I say sarcastically. "—And I didn't like it at all," she clarifies. "I didn't ask for your opinion and neither do I care about it anyways," I say as I burst into the cafeteria. My feelings only grew stronger for Vanessa after she came to my 16th birthday pool party dressed in her bikini. "Hi Jake," Ashley says as I get my lunch. "Yes," I reply. "Why is Heidi crying in the girls' bathroom?" She asks, her two best friends trailing behind me. She's crying? I can care less. "I don't know, it's not like we're together or something," I reply, walking to our table. "Hi Kev, I got you a date with Dianne," I say as I sit next to him. "Really? How!" He eagerly responds. I shrug, "I have my ways." Although I did blackmail her. "Hi guys," Tyrell says, taking a seat next to Ashley. He has a crush on Ashley - since last year - but Ashley isn't interested in him at all. "Hi Ty," I say, drinking my soda. My head snaps when I hear the voice. I see Vanessa and Dianne enter the cafeteria - talking and laughing. They just slipping into the lunch queue. "Erm... Heidi needs me," Brenda says, keeping her angered gaze on me up until she leaves. "What's up with Heidi though? She normally doesn't really cry, especially over guys," Sharon says. "I don't know... but I bet it's that boy from cheer camp," Jennifer adds, eating her salad. "Whatever it is, she better fix herself up. I'm sure Coach doesn't want a sobbing wreck on her squad," Ashley says, texting on her phone. I roll my eyes. She's been acting like a b***h lately. Maybe it's because of Jennifer, since she started to sleep around with people from the summer before high school. Let's just hope that Liana doesn't get influenced. Tyrell watches Ashley, smiles and shakes his head. I look to Vanessa and Dianne, seated outside under an umbrella. My phone vibrates. From Kevin: Dude! You've been staring at that dirty blonde-haired chick since she's entered the cafeteria. Me: I can't help it... she's so pretty. Kevin: You need serious help man, I mean... you're not even her type anyways. Me: Well you're interested in Dianne and she's not your type either. Kevin: You and Heidi belong together, both popular, rich and captains. Me: I get to choose who I want to be with, no one else. Kevin: Whatever man. I can't wait to get in bed with Dianne. Me: Dude! You want to date her just to sleep with her and then dump her? Kevin: That's what my dad did in high school. Me: That doesn't mean you have to do the same. Kevin: Well... if after our fourth date - I'll ask her - that's if we get past the first three. Me: Good luck, cause I think she likes someone else. Kevin: I'll fight the guy she likes. Me: Even if you've known him since 8th grade? Kevin: Definitely. ———————————————————— I laugh and shake my head as I glance at Kevin. I cringe at the sound of scraping heels along the floor. The horrible sight. The sight of Heidi walking straight to our table, her eyes swollen from tears. "Dude, what happened to her?" Tyrell asks. "Guy problems," I respond. "Yikes," Tyrell mumbles. "Jake. We need to talk," Heidi says. "Aren't we doing that right now?" I question and Sharon chuckles. She roll her eyes, "About us - I mean - we knew each other since kindergarten and I can't understand why we aren't together yet," she says. "Because I am not interested in girls like you," I reply. "Girls like me? How dare you? I am pretty, the captain of the cheer squad, rich," she begins. "Don't forget a hoe," Kevin coughs. "That's the point. You show off too much! I'm interested in normal girls with good grades and that don't act like a spoilt brat," I say as everyone gasps. She storms out the cafeteria. "Dude! That was epic," Logan says, giving me a high-five. "What did I miss?" Chase says, sitting down by Sharon - his new girlfriend. "Practically everything," Tyrell laughs. "Yeah Jake embarra-" "Tell him in your own time," Ashley cuts off Sharon, causing a glaring contest to erupt. "Pfff. How rude." She says before feeding Chase. ————————————————————————————————————————
