By mid-afternoon, I’d become reacquainted with my nephews and nieces and sisters-in-law. The kids had grown so big! It was amazing to see how healthy and happy they were. I saw Casey, too, as she helped where she could. Most of the time, she chased the cat or one of the dogs. It made me smile, something I hadn’t been doing a lot of since I left home. She was a pretty child and looked just like her dad. There was nothing of Bree in her that I could see. That was probably a good thing. I thought a lot about what my mom had said.
