Ric couldn’t help it. He felt a certain thrill as he heard Reny’s words. This was it. This was the place where the action took place. As he stood there looking down the dark street, he shivered as though his spine had turned to ice. The cold air that drifted all around him enveloped his entire body. The walkways that led up to the dives, dumps, and hangouts were cracked, and weeds and dandelions poked out from the crevices. He could see where flowers had tried to grow, but was now only a thicket of dried up, crackly leaves that gathered in the most obscure places.
