Everything begins for a purpose. Our life. Our ambitions. Our inspirations. And so are our mistakes. The reasons behind many will be very fragile and vile. But eventually, we too learn our lesson. We too admire the past seeing how we moved on. How we went through everything. How we learnt from the little by little obstacles like a baby learning to walk.
The same thought now revolved around Fami. She had been hoping she could go back to a school that would still make her laugh, shyly smile and make her do embarrassing things. But now it seemed too difficult. Till the minute, she had reached the gate, she had had this burning desire that everything was made alright and done. But one glimpse, and she knew, she would break down.
At the betrayal she had done. At the way she had cheated. At the way she had hurt someone undeserving so bad.
One second held her back.
One moment, asking her whether she would be able to handle herself in a smile after what happened this weekend.
The depressing part was, she didn't have an asnwer.
That made her slip into silence again.
And she trusted forward, in hesitation.
"Roll call everyone!"
The class was roaring, like always, making no sort of difference to this day too. Like after every weekend, they were immense discussions of how everybody had their Sats and funds spent. Like always, it had to begin from the back. And when Fami turned her head to meet his gaze for the first time, she choked.
"Huh?"
"Go on, Jake, tell us...How was your weekends?"
They weren't asking. They were teasing. Fami saw them two for the first time, and when they met her gaze, they had tightened their entire muscles.
The glare wasn't one. The anger wasn't so. It was just pure disgust. The ugliness behind whatever they had found out.
Fami found her eyes turning heavy that she rushed out before she had heard another word.
"God!....Help me..."
The boulder of such pain came thrashing upon her.
/But where is he?/
It made her run inside.
But Ms Jiya had already arrived.
'Maam, I'm sorry to interrupt but I need to take Jake and Harith for some important work"
The teacher who well knew the nerd of the class held her hands and asked softly,
"Ofcourse, but isn't such lab work during the break even better?"
She shook her head, in desperation.
Her tears were running down in the gait of a cheetah.
"No ma'am..No ma'am...Please....I need the lab work..done.."
Mrs Jiya was so shocked, that she agreed so fast.
'Ofcurse, Ofcourse...please calm down...Fami..Yeah, sure..Jake and Harith, right? Boys, go and help her out...I hope they are enough! Yeah sure...okay,..."
The teacher was so upset, that she immediately agreed. The class was too noisy to notice it, but Jake and Harith did, and they walked out stiffly, oly because they had had no choice.
There was no way anything was turning right.
Because Jake knew too much, and Harith nothing much.
"What do you want?!"
Jake was fuming throughout the walk to the terrace.
She immediately broke down.
"Please...guys...let me know what is happening-g-g..I..I..I.."
Harith who was quite sober now, immediately held her and calmed her down.
""Hey..hye..Everything is fine, Fami...Everything is..What's up guys?"
The ignorance made Jake put up his palms, stopping her jabbering.
"Thats' enough, Fami. After all, I know too much to even misunderstand somebody"
He didn't wanna consider any of her sympathy or pretended pain.
'Where-e-e is he...?"
Jake laughed, wickedly and gritted his teeth.
Harith asked, "Who?"
"Ofcourse, her pretended doggy, who listens to her in one go!"
Jake clenched his fists, so hard, it would have crushed through his skin had it been sharp with his nails.
"What?", Harith asked, confused. His hysteria proved he knew nothing at all. He walked to Jake who stood at the side, and asked,
'What the f**k is going on? Whose doggy and why are you so...I don't know..so f****d up?!"
He was turning mad now too.
"She..She...", Jake pointed his index at the girl who was now on her knees, crying
"She, what?"
"...Can't be forgiven!"
He spat it upon her, and walked off without another glance at her.
Harith knew there was no use going behind him now.
So he sat before Fami and slowly engulfed her in an embrace.
"Look, you need to stop crying, you know...and tell me what's wrong"
She was weeping so hard, that her arm found solice in his warm hug.
"Please...Please...tell him, I'm sorry......Please-e--e-e"
Harith cringed hard at her tightened hug.
"Who?!"
"Fahi-m-m-m"
Harith shrivelled a little.
"Fahim?"
She nodded so much, and looked straight at his eyes. Harith looked so confused, he had an open mouth. She gulped down her saliva and held him by the collar and was talking between her tears.
"Tell him I'm leaving..I won't disturb him again.....seriously-y-y-y...I mean it..Just tell him..It won't happen again..I have to go..I have to...Before I fall for him..you know..I'm betrothed and all.Just tell him..Just tell him..last night..nothing was right...Nothing was and we all know and we all-"
Harith stopped her with his fingers.
Fami looked so shocked.
"What the heck are you even saying? "
"Huh?"
"Fahim left! For his ancestral house. Its his sister marriage in a month"
