Fami's POV
"So are you going to walk away from the truth now?The truth that I love you?"
Fami didn't wait for this. She knew, someday or the other this would come. She had known. One day, she had even dreamed of him with her, and their cute little children. Ugh! What was wrong with her? It hadn't been long right? How long.
"How long has it been since we met huh? Two months?"
Fahim shook his head.
"Three months, six weeks, two days"
The accuracy.
The stern countenance.
That perfect face.
For a minute, she stared, falling deeply.
"It's one night, with you and me, in this road, not knowing where this path will take us"
"Yet, you give me no answer, as if you are unsure. Unsure about what your choice is? Then don't choose now. But just to let you know, my heart shows me my way. Never has my mind brought the correct path"
He stood inches away from me, his neck bending down to meet my gaze. I didn't have to string my neck, for my head at its accurate angles, could meet the pair of brownish greyed eyes. They were too good to be true.
"Why do you stay suspicious of your mind?"
"Have you ever given it a chance, to even suspect it so much?", I asked, trying not to fall for any of this.
"I have. When mom went away ,when dad married another ,when my brother attempted suicide, and when...my ....", he failed to speak further. The strain in his cheekbones and the pain behind those beautiful eyes couldn't be ignored.
I knew I had fallen.
And it hurt me as much as anything.
My arms wrapped around him, like a magnet.
/Farhan, I'm sorry.../
Harith's POV
"You think he can just walk away from this all?!", his liquor spluttered, as he shoved away a rather upset Jake. He was now trying to maintain the deals of a few chicks who said, they were promised money after having fun. They kept demanding making Jake swipe his card in a nearby cash machine to get them some money. Finally, with a drunk Harith who was jabbering nonsense, he was trying to run out of that area.
As he reached the lights of the closing night, he came up front with Farhan
"No, don't!", he warned, holding onto Harith who was still mumbling.
"We don't need your help..", he remarked, trying to take Harith by the arms.
"Yeah, freaking enemy! What do you want, huh?", Harth murmured, spitting more liquor. Farhan remained quiet, not saying anything, but following the two. Jake looked at him at the corner of his eye, and spat,
'What the f**k do you want?!"
Harith fell on the pavement, laughing over his drunken thoughts.
"Make amends"
Farhan said slightly, turning his glance to Harith who was now mumbling, "Why bro?.. Why?'
Jake was gritting his teeth.
'Amends?! We thought we could do too, but now, we think otherwise. Harith, get your big ass here now!"
The latter however now rolled on the tiles and laughed, still in the hangover.
Jake held him by the collar, and growled,
'I'm no fool now. I can read you. Just like I can read her. Your goddamn plan!",
Farhan said nothing.
'Your stupid plan and you and she; go to hell! Because neither I nor he and nor does our big boy need both of you! Got it?!", he roared. Thankfully, at such nighttime, few inches away from the often seen nightclub, there wasn't much crowd or else a huge police patrol would have been summoned there.
"You can just f*****g get lost!"
Jake pushed him hard, making him stagger back.
It was when he looked up. Jake bit his tongue inside. He looked wicked.
"Think my Fami hasn't lured your Fahim already?"
Jake stood upright, shocked.
'You bastard!", he tried to hit him, but the small soju shot he had had made him stumble a little.
"What happened? Don't wanna save your Fahim? She has already said, you guys want to stop him from loving her, so basically she has said; you are toxic!"
Jake bit his lips.
No!
No!
NO!
"You jerk! Know what? You were always trash. Now and even then, not even now, have you been able to make amends over Fariha and Farih; you jerk!"
That had been enough.
A punch threw out to his face, splattering blood over his face. Jake whose face went a bit dizzy for a moment, needed a minute to get over it. His fingers ran over his cheekbones. Red thick blood gushed to his skin, making him realize. But when he looked up, there was no Farhan.
Instead, there just stood the police.
And a couple with them.
A very familiar one that too.
"All four of you are as drunk as anything. We have checked and yet, there is no card or anything. "
They sat without a word, while a concerned Fahim looked here and there, searching for his little girl who had vanished into thin air. There was no sight of her after they had entered the police station.
"She is the only one who isn't drunk, so we need to ask her some questions!", marked the Inspector, who was chewing on some raw um, because no longer how much she chewed, it wasn't getting off her teeth despite her attempts.
"You had the question, didn't you?"
Fahim said nothing, except look at those who were sitting on the seats across him now. One was so drunk, he had dozed off even before they had arrived there. While the other was bleeding by the cheek a little and was looking absolutely disturbed. However, his face, felt hurt and upset at the same time, exactly like how it had looked years before when the entire village at his ancestral had come to take his mother's body.
Fahim remained quiet, biting his teeth.
His thoughts were still on what she had said.
About the friendship.
About love.
About the hug.
About almost he wished he knew before.
His fists were clenched now.
/Boys, I can't trust you when you are trying to take my first love away/
/Yet, I smell something fishy/
Just then, she came from the door which had opened ajar. He turned around to meet her gaze, but she said nothing. She slipped into a chair and remained sullen.
Fahim held his face against the Inspector.
Some constable who had come along with her went to the Senior woman and whispered something.
The Inspector nodded.
"Okay. You guys can go. Get that drunkard back home before morning or else....none of you are seeing the sunset for a year!"
Her roar with that gum, itself sounded more like torture so he got up the moment he was given permission. He went in her direction, to grab her hand but she walked away without another glance. Heartbroken, he froze. Jake whose back now carried a dozing Harith who had seen and experienced nothing of this, walked past Fahim without even a glance at him.
Fahim stood still.
He couldn't call for Jake.
He couldn't.
Why? he didn't know
Yet, neither could he call for the girl he had just said he loved.
Fahim felt his tears falling.
/Lord? Have I ever called you with this much pain?/
