Chapter 7 waking up in a strange place

Adonis’s P.O.V

I dove down and managed to catch her in my claws just before she hit the ground and then flew back up into the sky. The whole time I carried her I hoped and prayed that if she woke up she wouldn’t freak out about being this high up in the sky and being held by a dragon. I flew with her all the way back to my home and carefully landed on the ground where the doctor I had called was waiting. He took her to the ward, while I shifted back and got dressed. I knew right away that I had found my mate and queen, but the way she looked now was upsetting to say the least. The parts of her body I could see were covered in bruises and she was a little bloody too, like she had been badly beaten up, but who would do this to her and why? After I got my clothes on I hurried to the ward in search of my mate and the doctor, but just as I got there he was looking her over and putting an IV in her arm.

“My king, she has been badly beaten and her whole body is full of bruises, but she also has scars everywhere, some are old, but some are new. I had a nurse check her over and she was, well…I don’t know how to say this without you getting angry, whoever did all this to her had also taken advantage of her. It looks like she has been taken by force a few times. I am truly sorry, my king, but it looks like she has been tortured and from how her body looks and the amount of scars she has it looks like this has been going on for years. She is terribly underweight, like she has been starved….” The doctor said and I let out a deep growl. I was angry, more than angry and so was my dragon.

“WHO THE f**k DID THIS TO MY MATE?!!! WHY THE f**k WOULD ANYONE DO THIS TO ANOTHER PERSON?!!!!” I roared, turning to look at my mate and then back at Doctor Stan.

“You said she was underweight, she looks way too thin to me, but can you tell if she has eaten anything at all recently?” I asked, trying to calm myself so I didn’t wake my mate up and scare her, but he shook his head.

“My king, it looks to me as if she hasn’t eaten properly in quite some time, it looks like she has just had enough to survive on for a while, but that's all. Whoever did this to her really did a number on her. She has had multiple broken bones that have healed, her body is littered with scars, bruises, cuts and grazes which range from a few months to a few hours old. I am afraid that she has given up, so I have put an IV in her arm that will give her body the fluids it desperately needs, as well as a feeding tube. I also have her on a heart monitor, but all we can do now is hope, pray and wait. It’s up to her if she wants to live or not. There is one more thing you should know, she’s a dragon, Adonis.” Doctor Stan replied and my eyes lit up.

“She doesnt smell like a dragon.” I said and he looked a little sad when he looked at her and then back at me.

“Whoever did all this to her has kept her dragon at bay, she might not even know she’s a dragon. She has a long journey ahead of her, so let's hope that she comes out of this.” Doctor Stan replied and I nodded. She has to be alright, she just has to be.

Liv’s P.O.V

When I climbed out of the window and onto the roof I felt like I was being watched, but I honestly didn’t care. Whoever was watching me would be witness to me putting an end to this, putting an end to the misery I have lived. I sighed as I looked out at the forest and then down at the ground, but I didn’t feel sad, I felt at peace. I was at peace with my decision because it was like they said no one really wanted me here and I didn’t want to be here either. I was a human living amongst wolves as a slave. My whole body ached and screamed in pain with the bruises and cuts I had, my spirit had been crushed and yet my mind was at peace. My mind was the one thing they had never broken, but now it was time. After all, maybe everyone would be happier with me gone, I thought as I felt eyes on me again. It was probably Alpha Billy and Luna Ally watching me, willing me to end it and they were finally going to get their wish. I took one last look around at this hell hole, wishing that someone here had cared and loved me, wishing that I had my family, but there was no one. I had no one and I was so tired of being alone, so tired of being beaten and scared. So many years they had done this to me and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was tired. I had no tears in my eyes as I looked down and jumped, letting go of the pain, fear, hunger, loneliness, everything. I was falling and after that I had no idea what happened because the rush of the fall must have knocked me out or something, but I did feel something wrap around me. I managed to open my eyes a little only to see that I was up in the sky and it made me wonder if this was heaven. Was I in heaven? I thought, but then I saw sharp talons wrapped around me and when I looked up further I could have sworn that either I was definitely dead or my mind was playing tricks on me. Is that a f*****g dragon? Aren’t they all dead? I thought to myself, terrified of what was happening. I was so scared of this thing eating me for dinner or dropping me that I passed out again.

The next thing I knew it felt like I was lying on a very soft bed and I heard machines all around me, but it had to be a joke, right? There was no way Alpha Billy was trying to save me, right? If he was then there was only one reason and that was just so he could torture me and beat me up for trying to jump. For a few minutes I was too scared to open my eyes, but after a while I opened them and sat up slightly. I looked around at the room I was in and the machines, but nothing was familiar to me. This wasn’t the pack house and there was no way that this was the pack hospital as I was never allowed to go there, no matter how bad my injuries were. This room was so much bigger than any of the rooms in the pack house and they were also really colourful too. The walls were a light blue and it had photos of a skeleton with the names of the different bones beside each bone it belonged to. There was a TV mounted on the wall and a small table and chair in the corner. I tried to get up, but felt a sudden sting and when I looked down I saw two needles going into my arm. One was an IV, but I had no idea what the other was for. There were sticky things plastered on my chest, legs and arms, with wires coming off them and when I followed the wires I found they were going to a heart monitor. I hurried to take everything off me, including the IV’s, but I had no idea where my clothes were and I only had a hospital gown on. I didn’t know where I was or how long I had been out for, but I didn’t care either. Everything was beeping loudly and I wanted to get out of here before anyone came to see what was going on. I got out of bed and ran through the light double doors with nothing on my feet and only the gown covering me, but I didn’t care, I just wanted out. There was another door just ahead of me and when I reached forward and opened it I ran right into this beautiful woman. I stumbled back a bit, but could take my eyes off the 5.6 woman. She had purple highlights in her hair which looked really cool on her and she looked really fit, like she worked out or something. The woman smiled at me and it was then that I noticed her eyes. They had a line of light purple and pink around them, which looked amazing, but it also freaked me out a little.

“Hi, I’m Aquilla. I’m your nurse, but why are you out of bed? Oh my Goddess, did you take the IV out of your arm? Oh crap, the king is not going to like this one bit, s**t you took everything out of you. They were to feed you because you were so thin when you were brought here.” The woman I now knew as Aquilla said, confusing me.

“I’m Liv. Who brought me here? Where am I?” I asked and she giggled a little.

“King Adonis did, he brought you here to save you.” Aquila replied, confusing me even more. Who is king Adonis? Where am I? I thought as I looked at Aquilla and then I noticed her ears. She caught me looking and quickly hurried to cover them up with her long hair.

“I’m sorry, I’m an elf and I work for the king, but he put me in charge of you to make sure you are okay.” Aquila said, explaining who and what she was, but again I still had no idea who this king Adonis was? What does he look like? Is he an elf as well? Is he a wolf? I thought just as Aquilla’s phone rang.

“Give me a minute please, I have to take this call.” Aquila said, turning around and leaving me standing on the opposite side of the doors I was about to go through when I bumped into her. I stood there looking around the huge hallway and saw that there was what looked like a nurses station. There were computers by one wall and beds that you could push along on the other side, but I didn’t see anyone else and all the rooms were empty from what I could see. I really didn’t want to go anywhere because I didn’t know where I was, so I decided to sit on one of the beds until she came back. I was looking out the window at a garden of flowers outside and it was beautiful with all the butterflies flying around and landing on the petals every now and again. Thirty minutes went by when Aquilla came back, but this time she had clothes in her hands.

“I’m sorry it took me so long, but I’m back now. The king wants you dressed and wants me to take you to the castle. Don’t worry, you’re not in trouble, he just wants you up there with him.” Aquila said and yet again I had no idea what was going on. I nodded, but stayed on my guard, not wanting to go through s**t again. If anyone so much as touched me I was going to rip them a new asshole. I was so sick and tired of being beaten and hurt.
