THE ROYAL LEGACY – Chapter Three
Theodore
How long has it been? Almost a year? The more I think about it the more I want to find an outlet for my desperation. That’s right. I’ve been desperate. Desperate to know if Sebastian Rigodon is my mate or not. It’s been almost a year since my brother Thaddeus and I agreed to not see our childhood friend until he is eighteen.
If it’s not either of us, we’ll be devastated for sure. If it’s just one of us, either way, we’ll both be hurt. I want to have Sebby but if I had him, I wouldn’t be able to face my brother. We both have been in love with Sebastian. It’s a big dilemma, I know.
Sometimes I wondered if Goddess has given us this problem since we’ve all been blessed in every other ways.
My parents are kings of the werewolves. They are the alphas of Moonstone. Dad is literally the chosen one, the savior of my kind. Thad and I are the luckiest werewolves alive. For some reason, we were given this huge dilemma to balance things out.
Now I’m stuck in stupid routines just to try not to think of the boy I’m in love with. Sometimes I’d go hang out with my friends from the university or girls and boys from random faculties. Sometimes I’d go to the lake with my guitar and compose my pathetic songs but then I’d see those bears. Those bears I tell you.
“Theodore Ellesmere-Aurora!”
That’s Pops, my father. King Terrence Aurora. He must have heard from uncle Klarence that I bullied his bears again. I swear. Why do those squatters need to I don’t know choose to squat in our territory. Uncle Klarence and his mate have wider lands now. They have a river by their pack house. Goddess!
I hurried and put some pants as I heard my father’s footsteps down the hallway. I bet Uncle Klarence called him. That tattle-tale!
“Theo—
My father stopped soon as I emerged my bedroom. With a grin, I dashed towards the opposite direction and went for the staircase. Thad was as calm as ever as he walked down the steps. “I swear I didn’t kick that bear!” I shouted as I ran down the stairs. Accidentally, I caused my brother’s phone to fly away. “I’ll get you another one!’ I yelled before running out the front door. I snuck back inside as soon as I sensed that Dad and Pops were gone for one of those weekend dates. They’re so cheesy.
Every year, my parents host an alpha gathering. It’s usually held here at the castle but there were time it was held in another city. Like every other year, they would make Thad and I attend. I don’t plan to take politics seriously until I’m twenty one and I have a mate next to me. After Thad and I turned eighteen, we also made a pact not to see Sebastian until he is eighteen. I keep my promises especially my promises with Thad.
Soon as I was back inside the castle, I headed to my parents’ office. I grinned at the sound of the door as I opened it. The smell of books and ink and my parents scent blasted onto my nose. I walked inside past the two long black leather couches and straight to the wide office desk. Dad agreed to have a seat next to Pops. He didn’t use to like sitting on a swivel chair.
I held onto Pops’ chair as I scanned the room. There are floor to ceiling book shelves and of course they’re full of books Pops love to read. He likes history the most.
We have a library and it’s much larger than this office. We kept all the books we had from the library of our former pack house. Thad and I were still babies when the castle replaced the pack house. A big part of that house still stands close to the castle though. Most of it was damaged during the war but my parents had it restored. Now it serves as a place for alphas around the world to stay over when they’re here. Some stay at the castle.
Speaking of the gathering, I began to focus my attention on my parents’ desk. At last, I didn’t find anything that could lead me to when the gathering will be or if it was to be held here. I was about to open Dad’s laptop when I sensed my brother. He came through the door with the broken pieces of his phone in his hand.
I told him about finding about the gathering. Just then Uncle Klarence came barging about his bears and I slipped. I accidentally said I did kick one of them. He was mad. Of course! He loves those dumb bears.
“I don’t know you still let those bears get to your nerves,” Thad said after Uncle had left.
I rolled my eyes and got off Pop’s swivel chair. “How about you? Since when did you stop getting irritated by those squatters?”
“Sebby told me not to bully them.”
I growled at the mention of the boy we mutually have feelings for. “We agreed not to say his name until the time is right.”
Thad didn’t say anything. He turned his back and headed for the door. “You’re not the only one anxious about it, Thad,” I told him through the link.
“I know. I’m sorry I mentioned him.”
“It’s alright,” I said. “So, got plans tonight?”
“We have that hunt tonight,” he said as I followed him and he opened the door.
“That was tonight?” Goddess. “One thing to avoid after another!”
“Don’t tell me you don’t plan to join?” Thad asked with a crease on his forehead. I know, I know. He’s the calm and more responsible twin. I’m the black sheep. Blah. Blah. Bah!
“Theo.”
I sighed as I admitted that I did plan on going out.
“Clubbing again?”
I nodded.
“Ugh. Can you at least take ten showers before you come home so we don’t smell random people on you?”
“Can’t help it. I’m irresistible,” I said as a matter of fact. “Come on. Pops and Dad enjoyed their youth too when they were our age. Dad was even younger. I’d wanna meet a witch next time. Or a vampire.”
“Maybe you should read Pops’ books so you’ll know what happens when you get mixed with them,” Thad said with a glare. We never really argue or fight. Maybe just bicker over random stuff.
“We’ll get mixed alright,” I said with a cheeky smile.
“Seriously. You need to read history books, Theo.”
“Fine. Fine.”
“And don’t be absent in tonight’s hunt,” he added.
“I’ll be hunting alright.”
He glared at me and growled as he walked briskly ahead of me.
I followed him. “I’m just joking! Hey! Hey!”
