A loud thud sounded throughout the garden. Anya didn't feel any pain just the air knocked out of her. Opening her eyes, she saw Arin groaning beneath her. He had taken the brunt of the fall. She saw her opportunity to leave and wasted no time to leave.
Bouncing back to her feet she started a light jog when Arin's hand curled around her ankled, tripping her. She fell against the pavement with brusque force. She felt like a fish out of water with the tide trying to pull her back in. She was the fish and Arin was the tide because he latched onto her ankle and would not let go.
"Let me go!" Anya tried shaking her leg away from his grip.
"I can't," he said and tugged her by the ankle toward him. Once she was near enough, he scooped her up and walked back to the house.
"NO, stop it, let me go!" he threw her over his shoulder and pounded her fists against his back.
"You've caused enough fuss today so stop irritating me," he hissed.
"I wouldn't have to be irritating if you didn't act like a lunatic talking about other worlds and humans as if you were another species. I think beast would fit your right," Anya sigh resignedly.
"It's you with the dimwit mindset of a human. There are other worlds and you are in a different one. You are not in good old Michigan nor Canada. You're in the dragon world."
Anya snickered, "Yeah, and I'm the Queen of England."
"Is that all you think of it?"
"I think that you are a lunatic."
"There are only two Kingdoms in this world. That of the dragon and of fairies," Arin's voice sang with hatred at the word "fairies".
Anya decided to play along. She propped herself up on her elbow against his back. "So....Are you the tooth fairy or something?"
"Don't you dare compare with those creatures," he growled.
"Someone's on his period," Anya rolled her eyes.
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing. So that only means your a dragon. Behold the Dragon Kingdom," Anya's voice came out as a mockery. "I can't believe we went back to medieval times."
"For once, you are correct."
"Ok...so where are the fire-breathing lizards?"Anya nonchalantly said but Arin flung down on the ground and shook her shoulders violently.
"Don't you dare be respectful to my race like that. I should have you executed for such a crime...If my people saw me forgiving you..." he rubbed his temple.
"Why do you speak like a spoiled baby prince?"
"I'm not the prince. I'm the King of Dragons," Arin's jaw set in a firm believable line.
Anya burst in laughter, tears coming to her eyes, "Yeah, sure. Let's go with that Mr. King."
Arin's face contorted with frustration. "Why can't you believe me?"
Anya did not hesitate in saying, "Because you're a stranger. I know nothing about you except your name is Arin, the man who bought me and kidnapped me, a lunatic, and a man too old to be saying that he can't fall for me."
Arin balled his fists to the side. "I'm not that old. I just turned twenty."
"And I'm thirteen. There is a seven-year gap between us and I'm a minor. Are you that lonely that you couldn't have gotten a p********e?"
"They don't...I've tried...that's not the case," Arin said warily.
"Then why did you buy me? That's all I want with freedom coming second," Anya pleaded.
"Because...Look, there is a lot of terminologies that you do not know and are not prepared for."
"What is this, a pop quiz?" Anya mocked. "Besides, you've proven to me that you are very violent. Shoving food down my throat and pinning me down against the bed..."
"I couldn't control it! My dragon and I got frustrated with you and everything..." Arin tugged at his locks. It then did Anya analyze their heights. He towered immensely above her and she barely reaches above his waist.
"Dragon? Please, I don't fall for fairytales," Anya scoffed. "You know what? Here dragon, dragon, dragon! Where are you? Or tooth fairy! I haven't received my money for the last several years! You probably owe me millions."
Anya turned to shout random things at the forest. Trying to make a mockery out of Arin. But when bones began crackling behind her she froze. She heard various harsh, loud snaps and felt how the bones mended once more in a different shape. When everything went silent a loud roar was let out behind her and the wind whooshed at her hair.
Slowly, she turned around. Her eyes first landed on large claws. Her eyes swooped upward- past the long arms and enormous wings to find that Arin had indeed, turned into an extremely large crimson dragon. Shakily, she let out a horrified piercing scream. Then, she ran. She ran because it was all she could do. Running away from this strange place with its strange people.
A blue translucent wall stopped caused her to halt. Her fingers slipped past the wall so she realized it was passable. Feet crunching on the ground stopped her. It was Arin and this time, Chris and Kaida. Arin was shirtless.
"Why do you keep running away?" Arin growled.
"I don't know...How would you feel if a fire-breathing lizard was behind you?" Anya examined the blue wall.
"Don't go through that barrier. It's the border between the Dragon Kingdom and the Fairy Kingdom. Both are sworn enemies and if you cross you will be executed," Kaida warn.
"Dragons can't go pass?" Anya asked.
"No, Rylee. That wall is meant to incinerate any dragon or fairy that dares cross. We won't last a second but since you are human it has no effect on you," Chris butted in.
"You said do yourself. I'm human and I'm sure these "fairies" will know I'm not a dragon," Anya reasoned.
"No. Then will kill you on sight. We've tried sending human spies through but eventually, they discovered so and all our spied were executed in their town square," Arin said.
"s**t. f**k. f**k this world and f**k you lizards. Why did I have to get into this mess? I didn't ask for any of this. Why god? Why did you make my path cross with the jackass called Arin," Anya sighed.
Kaida snickered, "Come back, Rylee. Stop running and everything will be explained to you."
"Fine. But keep Arin away from me."
