Chapter 6 - PartyWe stepped out of the elevator into a short hall. Two doors on opposite sides opened to the penthouses. One had been Tremayne's dead life-time mate Letitia's. The one across the hall was Tremayne's.
Two men—sentinels—standing in the hallway turned to regard us, their conversation abruptly interrupted by our arrival. Music blasted from the open doors of both penthouses.
“Nicole, Carpe noctem,” the blond guy said to Jeanie, a broad smile that had some fang to it. Nicole was Jeanie's new vampire name, and I had to remind myself of that constantly. She'd taken the new name, Nicole, when she'd ascended. I simply could not call her Nicole. Besides, that was my middle name, so it was weird in more ways than one.
