My Runaway Mate

Chapter 2

This little event Grayson had put together had been going on for about an hour now and I've never been so bored in all my life.

Members from Summit moon are here and they are arrogant to say the least. It make what Mrs Betty said earlier about an alliance seem more and more likely as the night goes on. Grayson had been walking around glued to the hip with the alpha from Summit like they are life long best friends. The alpha from Summit is scary. He's tall and dark but it's his eyes that freak me out. There's evil there. We've heard stories about how he runs his pack but nothing had every been confirmed. They are a closed off pack. They don't like visitors and never ever host at their place. Hence,why they are here tonight.

Anyways..whatever Grayson is planning, I just hope he gets on with it soon so I can go to bed. I'm beyond exhausted.

"Not feeling this whole gathering thing I take it?" my brother Ben says as he walks up to me with a diet pop for me.

"what makes you say that" I ask him playfully. We've always had a great relationship and I'm very grateful that I still have him in my life.

"Come on, I know you to well Bailey. Your counting the seconds until you can leave"

He's right. I am.

"Well, your the beta. why not yell me what this is about so i can leave?"

"Can't"

"can't? or won't" I snapped back at him.

"Can't. I have no idea." Been replied back.

That had me worried. Ben is beta..he always knows what is going on. And I know that if he did actually know what was going on, he'd tell me. We're just that close.

"Besides, I think he's about to make his announcement soon. you'll be home free soon" Ben said with a wink as he ran off to stand by Grayson's side.

Thank goodness!! I just want to get out of here as soon as possible. I'm not anti-social or anything. With summit moon here, i just feel very uneasy.

"Ahem, Everyone!" Grayson says from the top of the stairs so everyone can see him.

"I would like to thank Summit Moon Pack and their alpha, Alpha Michael Lauer for joining us tonight" the crowd applauded.

"Now then," Grayson continued, "for the reason of the night. Summit and Red River will be coming together to forman alliance to make both of our packs stronger, bigger, and better than any other pack in the country" More applause.

They can't be serious. They really think this is a good idea??

"Oh i just knew it" Mrs Betty whisper to me as she walked up. Grayson is still up there talking about their plans, I'm only half listening at this point.

"This is not for our benefit,but for Grayson's" I whisper back to her.

"Oh honey I agree, but what can we do?"she said.

She's right. He's the alpha. I look at Ben,who is standing next to Grayson. He's gotten pretty good and keeping emotion off his face, but I can tell he's pissed.

"Now, I know there will be some transition that we must all get use to and I am confident that things will go on without a hitch" Grayson continued. "Lastly, there was a bit of negotiations that went down for this alliance."

Oh boy..here it is. What did we have to give up for this brutal pack?

"A marriage contact between us and summit ..." Grayson continued.

"Did he pick a Luna from Summit?" Mrs Betty asked me.

it didn't make sense for Grayson to pick a Luna from Summit. Not when it seemed like Grayson needed them and not the other way around.

Grayson held up his hand to hush the crowd from the murmers and talking that just broke out. "Alpha Michael has chosen his Luna.. Bailey Walker."

I felt the color drain out of my face. What the hell did he just say??
