Chapter 15
Lois woke up alone, again, in bed. Dylan’s side of the bed was slightly cold which meant he’d woken up a while ago. She sat up and quickly glanced around. The sun shone outside the window high enough in the sky to tell her it was later than she normally woke up.
She rushed to the bathroom, cleaned herself and put one of her old dresses on. As she came out of the bathroom, Dylan paced the bedroom, talking to someone on his phone.
She heard the urgency in his tone and her own pulse spiked. She waited till he hung up, but he then raced for the door of their bedroom and said, “Don’t go anywhere.”
Something must have happened. Something big. Tension raced up her spine, but she chased him and caught his arm before he left the bedroom. He glanced down, his brow slightly lifted, and
