Oh fuck... Nikki Young wanted to beat herself to death. Sure the guy was super annoying and a complete p*****t too, but it doesn't mean she should kicked him and even in front of a lot of people..
It's her first day of school. She even woke up earlier than usual. She even did her hair and choose a very chic outfit just for today and that's all ruined now. How the hell did she manage to fail miserably. Why did she have to lose her temper just by a simple provocation. She knew she's better than that. Heck, she had lived her life much worse, that anyone cursing and insulting her were a daily occurrence. Her childhood was something from a nightmare so she shouldn't have reacted like she's a complete noob.
"What happened here?"
Nikki's chaotic thoughts simply vanished when she heard a very familiar voice. Turning her head from the source, her eyes grew big when she saw him.
It's Kane.
But she instantly grew pale when she saw the woman behind him.
"Mrs. Thompson." She saw Mrs. Thompson this morning and she was blown away when the woman treated her very kindly. But right now she's very far from the kind and gentle woman she saw this morning. Right now she looked like a witch and she's ready to skin them alive.
"What's happening here?" Mrs. Thompson asked too, echoing Kane's thoughts. Looking at Calvin who was slump on the floor and to the new transfer student who still have her hands raise, she already have an idea on what had transpired here, based on Calvin's personality. But she could never imagine that the little girl she met this morning had the gal to fight with a boy twice her size. It's very unrealistic. "Both of you, come with me to the office... And Calvin, please be truthful this time. I want to hear your side."
Oh God. Nikki didn't know if she wanted to laugh or cry. But one thing is sure, Lucien would definitely be furious with her. He's helping her for her so called revenge, but at the very first day she goes to school she actually kicked someone..
Looking up, she saw the shocked expression of Calvin before it disappeared completely, almost like its not there in the first place.
*
Calvin cast an amused looked over his shoulder. And then he saw Kane looking at them with confused eyes. Looking back at Nikki, Calvin couldn't help but smile at her. It's quite amusing to see Nikki's features go from angry to surprised to horrified.
Seeing her expression, Calvin was quite pleased with his self. He also felt that all the negativity piling up within him grew lighter.. And it might sound stupid he knows, but for a brief moment, he felt free. Like he's normal. Like there's nothing wrong. That he's back from the past. His best friend and fiancee was alive and well, waiting for him so that they can both go back.
But sadly, life was not always fair.
Calvjn almost tumble down when Niel shove past him, clipping his shoulder. He lets out an annoyed groan.
Stalking down the hall, Calvin tried not to think about how pissed his father would be, once he heard what happened today. Or the disappointment he will see in Kane's face.
Sigh.
Calvin playfully wink at the friendly receptionist before he walked through the Principal's office like he owns the place.
“Now, please tell me what really happened?”
Nikki clench her jaw, while Calvin shrug.
The Principal, Mrs. Thompson glares at them as she takes her seat. Without missing a beat, she launches into her lecture. “I'm not sure what happened with both of you. Calvin I know you're sensible. You're the vice president of the Student Council, you're also a part of our Basketball Varsity Team. That's why I don't know what to think. Did Nikki just kicked you without provocation?” She hardens her eyes but to Niel's surprise, it's directed to Caleb. “So now, what really happened?”
Calvin sighed, and all the knots, the anger and the stress that accumulated from the past few days slowly vanished. Mrs. Thompson could get angry and accuse him of blaming him of being the perpetrator, but Calvin know better.
Mrs. Thompson is one of the few people who cares about him. Dad sure as hell doesn’t. Even Kane. Maybe sometimes. But he knew better. He might appear kind and gentle to others but he's also damn selfish. Meanwhile, Mrs. Thompson wanted to hear his side of the story because he trusts him with the truth.
“I wanted to tease Nikku, because she's new,” Calvin admit with a grumble. “Then she got pissy.”
“And how did it come to Nikki kicking you?"
For just f*****g being there.
Annoying me.
Looking perfect and content. Happy and satisfied. Reminding me of the girl I had lost.
“And then....I... begun saying some innuendos indicating she wanted me sexually....” Calvin cringe when he heard himself. Even to him, that sounded like his a total a*s. No wonder Nikki kicked him.
And Mrs. Thompson, well it's understandable. She looked so disappointed..
“Why did you say it, for what reason, exactly?” she asks Calvin.
“Because she looks like it."
“f**k off, bastard!!”
“Calvin, Nikki!” Mrs. Thompson bellows, slapping her palm on the desk. “Enough of this.”
Calvin curl up his lip and give Nikki a cold look before turning to regard Mrs. Thompson with a blank expression. “I’m sorry.”
But Mrs. Thompson just rolls her eyes. “No, you’re not. But you’ll be sorry if you have detention.”
Calvin wince at her words. She’s right. Calvin can’t get detention. Detention is after school. He can't miss basketball practice, especially his responsibilities after practice as the Vice President of the Student Council. Just imagining his work pile up, because of a stupid detention make him wince, almost in pain. Not to mention Kane's very angry face while he yell at him from getting himself so worked up he can't stay focused.
Mrs. Thompson chuckle softly when she saw his change in expression, then says. “Listen, I need you to be someone Nikki can turn to. She’s new and doesn’t have anyone yet.”
Nikki who was quietly watching the debacle in front of her gasp incredulously. "Wha—”
“What?” Calvin snap, frowning at her.
Mrs Thompson lips thin out, then sighed. “I know that it would not be okay, after last time arguments, but believe me it would help the both of you to understand each other. You may never know, after this you discover that you have a lot of similarities and you could be the best of friends.. Surely that sounds fair, Calvin.”
She's right, but it’s still annoying as hell.
“I’m not going to give you both detention,” she tells Calvin. “You have basketball…and everything else.” He lets out a heavy sigh. Relieved. “I need you to remember to stay focused, okay?”
Calvin let out a defeated sigh. “I get it. Can I go now?” Calvin clip out, ending this line of conversation.
“You both can. I don’t want to see either of you in my office again. Make nice with each other. You’re not kids, so please act like it.”
