Chapter 4The evening was proving extremely enjoyable. Hayden was enraptured by the band, and consequently more interested in watching and listening than being the centre of Aleck’s undivided attention. The apparently self-appointed guard dog, or is that guard cat, was dancing, which just left the matriarch.
The band stopped for a break, and Hayden picked up his glass.
“I’m just going to tell them how much I enjoyed their music. Are you going over to the pretty guy with the lilac hair?”
Spluttering on his champagne, Aleck glowered as Hayden giggled. “Given he’s my neighbour, I thought I might pop over and say hello.”
“Aleck. Every time I looked at you, your eyes were fixed over there. Good luck.”
