Big terrified brown eyes stared back at them. These eyes belonged to a young boy who could be no older than nine years old. The boy's mouth was taped and his wrists were bound. The word sacrifice was written across his forehead. He was very thin and wore a plain white shirt and plain white pants. He had short light brown hair and pale skin.
Julia carefully peeled the duct tape off of his mouth while Owen gently unbound his wrist. Tears streamed down the boy's pale face as he stuttered out "Pl...pl...plea..se d..d..on't hu...hu..rt m..m..e." "We won’t hurt you." Juila said softly. "How did you understand him?" Owen asked. "How did you not?" Julia asked back. "What are we going to put in the death trap thing?" Owen asked.
Julia paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and snatched up the key. She quickly and silently went over to the trap thing. Before Owen could stop her she placed herself in it.
She felt that maybe she'd feel human again if she saved someone by taking their place. Was her act selfless or self-serving? What were her true motives, and intentions behind her actions?
The needles pierced through her skin and began to drain her blood. She winced and cried out in pain as they did. "No!,Julia!" Owen shouted. He ran and ripped at the trap. " No, you've already lost some blood, and we don't know how much this thing will take".He pulled at the cage of the trap with all the strength he had in him. She quickly began to lose consciousness.
Adrenaline fuelled Owen . He had to protect her. He finally got the cage open and pulled her out. He took her place. It hurt like hell as the needles were now piercing and draining his blood. He now was becoming light headed and the bucket was only little over two thirds full. The nine year old wouldn't have survived this.
Invincibility was part of the experiment surrounding Julia. This caused Juila to be stronger than the average human, so her blood rejuvenated quicker than a regular human's would. Due to this she got up. When she saw Owen in the trap she opened it and they switched places.
They kept doing this till the bucket filled and a door on the other side of the room opened. Owen stumbled out of the trap. "Let's rest here before we go on." Owen said. " good idea" Julia responded in agreement. They both sat down and hoped the weakness would wear off soon.
They barely survived. If the bucket had been a bit bigger and if it wasn’t for the fact that Julia isn't fully human they would be dead. A human body can handle losing one to two liters of blood before they go into hypovolemic shock.
Hypovolemic shock is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump sufficient blood. This can cause damage to the organs. Blood loss passed this condition is more than likely going to result in death.
Even though the room stunk of blood, Julia and Owen still rested from the blood loss that they endured. Slowly they began to regain strength, and after around two hours they both felt confident in their strength to carry on. “What should we do with the kid?” Owen asked. “Take him with us. We can’t just leave him here.” Julia responded. They both got up and walked over to the nine year old.
Julia held out her hand to the little boy sitting on the ground. He hesitantly took it. She introduced herself and Owen, then asked what the boy’s name is. “I’m Julia and this is Owen. What’s your name?” “R..yan” The boy stuttered out. All three of them walked to the door and continued on with their long and horrible journey in hope of freedom.
Again they were met with a hallway, but it wasn’t as long as the other ones. At the end of it they heard banging and what sounded like chains rattling. It seemed like someone or something was trying to escape. Ryan squeezed Julia’s hand in fear. Fear of who or what was ahead. There was a sort of nervous tension in the air.
As they got closer they could make out a hoarse voice. The voice sounded like an attempt of a yell. The words were inaudible due to the hoarseness of the voice. Though it wasn't clear , it sounded like the words were threats of various violent things.
They were all hesitant to approach the door. The door that this angry being was behind. “ Oh wow. That sounds like a joy to deal with." Owen said in complete sarcasm.
This creature was very clearly close to the door unlike the previous ones. When they reached the door they found a key taped to it. Julia. took the key as Owen opened the door.
Chapter 7
Before them stood a tall figure that was locked behind thick iron bars. That explained the banging. The bars were too thick to see much of the creature, but Ryan still hid behind Julia in fear. This wasn’t too bad unless the bars open the creature was harmless. The bars were around thirty feet high and the ceiling looked to be sixty feet high.
As soon as the door shut behind them it locked and the bars began to lift up at an extremely slow pace. The creature was now visible.
On its head it had long and thick messy light brown hair and long horns that made it look demonic. Its angular face was slightly sunken in and scarred. Abnormally Big brown bloodshot veiny eyes gave its face an even more monstrous look. It had sharp bearing teeth and a glasgow smile crossed its face. Its limbs were grotesquely long and covered in dark veins. Parts of its skin seemed to be metallic. Its ankles had heavy looking chains that shackled them together .
It had thick gloves that were held to Its wrist by metal cuffs. Its short sleeved gray shirt and pants had drops of blood on them. It can run with Its ankles shackled so they had a chance or so they thought.
Once the bars were raised completely they hit a button on the ceiling. This caused a key to fall from a small vent in the ceiling. “You took the one thing I loved and now you and everyone I can get to will pay” It growled in a barely audible voice. As It took off It’s restraints. When it removed the gloves a red circle and animalistic claws were revealed.
“Which one of you two should I start with?” It growled. It hadn’t noticed Ryan yet. With a chilling grin it looked at Owen and grabbed him by the wrist . It began to run away while dragging Owen with it.
It turned a corner. This room is a maze and Owen was being dragged through it by a monster. He was panicking trying to get away. His arm hurt as the creature continued to violently drag him, while taking turn after turn.
“Julia!” Owen cried out. “Shut up!” The monster said harshly. “Just shut up! You don’t get mercy or saving, and I'm going back for her soon! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!” “I didn’t put you here and I didn't do anything to hurt you.” Owen said.
The creature stopped and stared into Owen’s eyes. It then punched Owen in the face a couple times causing his nose, and lips to bleed . “Don’t lie and shut up!” The creature yelled or at least attempted to yell.
It continued to drag Owen through the maze-like room. It was clear at this point that talking was only going to make things worse.
Meanwhile Julia told Ryan to stay put and then ran off to find Owen. She heard him yell and tried to follow the sound. She kept trying to listen to his voice but soon it was quiet. She began to focus and her ears picked up on the sound of footsteps. She followed the sound but couldn’t move fast or else the sound of her own footsteps would throw her off track.
Tears ran down her face. “I’m going to lose him.” She whispered to herself. She had no idea where to go. She also wondered if Ryan was even less safe by himself. What if something came and got him? She began to run again, but not to Owen. Instead she ran to Ryan, the one she calls a child even though she herself is a child.
