“Brother, you need to leave this room! It’s not healthy.” Richard tried to sympathize with my state again.
I kept my eyes trained on the unconscious woman. My brother deserves none of my time if I am being honest.
“Why? Is your disturbed mate looking to finish the job her f****d up son started? Are you looking to silence the only living witness to his crimes?” I shot back, annoyed at his constant pestering.
Richard growled in warning. “Leave her out of this, Colton.”
I laughed humorlessly. “Still defending the wrong side of things, I see.”
“This has nothing to do with Anne-Marie. She is at home. I am here because I am worried about you. This is not acceptable. We don’t get attached to missions given to us by the council, Colton. We must remain neutral at all times.” H
