My bare feet padded against the dirt, grass, and twigs beneath me. I had been running for what felt like an eternity. The sun was now beating overhead and sweat dripped down my forehead from the heat. My lungs ached and burned with each breath, and my legs were about as useful as jello. I needed to stop, try and find somewhere to rest, but I couldn't get my legs to stop moving. Even though every step got slower and slower, they wouldn't stop. I still had the feeling that someone, or something, was behind me, and they were just waiting for a moment of weakness. I continued walking, placing my hands along the trees on either side of me. Each trunk sat so close together that I couldn't walk a foot without running into one, which provided slight cover and something for me to lean on. The bark
