3. THE WEDDING

*One month later* Hannah's POV The girl in the mirror looked nothing like the plain, boring me. She was wearing a beautiful wedding gown with intricate design, the lace sleeves and neckline adding to it's glory. It hugged all her curves in right places and flowed down to her golden heels. Her brown eyes were dusted with golden eyeshadow, her brown hair cascading down in perfect light waves. Her freckles were covered with a light layer of makeup making her skin glow, her lips tinted with a nude pink lipstick. I never thought I could look this beautiful. I turned to look at my father who was looking at me with his eyes beaming with emotions. "You are looking perfect, sweetheart. Our little daughter have grown into a beautiful person inside out. If Katherine was alive, she would be very proud of you.", my father said, his eyes moistured a bit. "This is because I have the best father in the world.", with that, I kissed his cheek, earning a chuckle from him. "Okay enough with this crying. We have spent a hour on her makeup. I am not letting your emotional drama ruin it.", Jane snorted and started dragging us to the wedding hall. The wedding hall was decorated in purple and white, soft music was playing in the background as I walked down the aisle in my father's arm. My eyes were focused on the tall man standing at the aisle, though the veil was obscuring my vision. As I went closer to him, my heart stopped breathing. There stood in front of me the most handsome man I've ever seen. With his tall 6'3" stature, he easily towered over me. His hard chiseled face, strong jaw, straight nose and thin lips, everything was screaming perfection. His few brown locks were covering his forehead, urging me to touch them but I resisted. The fitted black suit did nothing to hide his strong built and broad shoulders. What lured me in the most were his eyes, the hazel pools of unmeasurable depths, drowning me in them. But there was something in his eyes, something resembling hate and disdain. He narrowed his eyes at me and then looked away as if I was the most heinous thing he had ever laid his eyes on. His action left me startled. The ceremony ended in a swift and he didn't glanced in my direction again. When we were asked to kiss to seal the deal, he gave me a light peck on the corner of my lips and then he excused himself saying that he had to attend an important phone call. Strange. Many couples were dancing on the floor. I was contemplating for the reason of his weird behavior when a handsome guy with jet black hair approached me. He looked like he was in his late twenties. "Don't worry, my cousin can be a little annoying sometimes . That is why he is acting like a jerk. But don't worry, a gorgeous woman like you deserve to be treated with care and delicacy on her wedding day. Can I have the honour of dancing with you mi'lady?", he winked, holding his hand out for me. "And you might be-", I trailed off. "I am Zac Mathews. Your husband's one and only cousin and the most handsome heartbreaker in this party.", he smirked. He was genuinely handsome, a little less than my arrogant husband who didn't even bother to talk to me. With silky black hair that curled around his neck, striking blue eyes and sharp jaw, he could easily get any woman. I chuckled at his confidence and took his hand as he led me to the dance floor. After ten minutes of dancing, my stomach was hurting with laughter. Zac was undoubtedly the funniest guy I have ever met. Given that most of the boys I have met were horny teenage guys from my school. Though he looked like a player and tried to flirt with me repeatedly but his eyes were sincere. He appeared harmless. As he led me off the dance floor, I felt a pair of eyes on me. I looked at that direction where my husband was standing, his jaw was clenched and eyes filled with anger. His fists were balled at his sides. He sauntered towards me, looking straight into my eyes. "If I were you, I would think a hundred times before flirting with my own cousin on our wedding as there are many billion dollars at stake.", he gritted, his voice laced with annoyance. I looked at him in confusion, trying to understand the meaning of what he said earlier. With that, he caught my wrist forcefully and led me towards his car. His driver, who was waiting for us, quickly opened the door and led us inside. I didn't even get a chance to say my good bye to dad or Jane. The car ride was silent. He didn't talk to me or even looked at me. When we reached his house, I gasped in surprise. The house looked more like a mansion than a normal house. There were three guards patrolling at the main gate, wearing white uniform. "Your house is very beautiful. I really like it.", I commented, looking at it in awe. "Of course , isn't it one of the reasons you married me? My house, my name, my money. Go on, live your dreams, Mrs. Smith. Just don't expect me to follow you like a puppy.", with that he walked away taking big steps, leaving me baffled. After he left me at the door, a maid came and took me to our room. The bedroom was the size of our whole apartment. I walked in and settled on the bed. The whole night replayed in front of me, the resentment in his eyes, the kiss, him insulting me in front of his cousin, the scene at the front door. I could not understand the reason behind his actions and behavior. What have I done to deserve such treatment? I lay down and closed my eyes for a moment, determining to interrogate him later. **************************
