4. GOLD DIGGER

1115 Words
Jackson's POV After leaving my wife alone , I went to the mini bar in my house. Two hours and many drinks later, I was fully drunk. Thoughts of a certain brown-eyed girl invaded my senses. To get rid of the image of her sad face, I started filling my glass again when a hand gripped my wrist. I looked at the owner of this hand who to be my turned out to be my best friend Tyler, who was looking down at me, his eyes were filled with concern. "It's your wedding night for God's sake and here you are, drinking yourself to oblivion. Have you even talked to her?" "I don't want to talk to that gold-digger?", I snorted. From which angle does she look like a gold-digger to you? Just try to understand her reasons for agreeing to this marriage.", he grumbled. I chuckled. "Seems like she has cast her spell on you too. First father, then Zac and now you. Her fanclub is expanding with every passing hour.", I hissed in contempt, my voice slurring due to effects of alcohol. He slapped me on my arm. "You have no idea what bullshit are you talking right now. Go to you room and apologize to her.", he said, earning a glare from me. "Apologize? ", I yelled. "You want me to apologize to her? Get this thing through your thick skull that I don't even want to look at her disgusting face. She can go and sulk in any corner of that f*****g room." I grumbled, lying about her face, because as much as I hate to admit, she was good-looking. In fact she was a true beauty, with her big brown eyes and dark brown hair. When I first saw her walking down the aisle in that wedding gown, I was spell-bound. Her dressed fitted her well, showing her soft curves. Her porcelain skin was on display. Her eyes were laced with innocence and small nose and full lips adding to her beauty. But I knew better than to give her any wrong idea about this marriage. The sooner she realizes that I am not going to be her puppet, the better. After I pecked the corner of her mouth, I restrained myself from kissing her soft lips. As soon as we sealed the deal, I left the ceremony to get some fresh air and calm myself down. But what happened when I returned reminded me of how conniving these angel-faced women can be. She was dancing in the arms of my dear cousin whose one hand was on her waist. I groaned mentally. He probably told her one of his pathetic jokes, earning a full blown laughter from her. My hands itched, wanting to punch him but I controlled. I approached her and gave her a piece of my mind, leaving her in confusion. "Hey, I'm blabbering here from last ten minutes. What the hell are you thinking about?", Tyler sneered, pulling me out of thoughts. "Noth-Nothing", my voice slurred under the effect of alcohol. He glared at me and helped me stand up, I was too drunk to stop him. "You are going to your room pretty boy and talk to her. And don't you dare drink another sip. You know I can be quite violent at times like this.", with that, he dragged me to my room and left. I expected to see her crying on entering the room but there she was, sleeping peacefully like an angel with her soft snores filling the silence. My eyes scanned her face, from her slightly creased forehead probably due to the events of the day to her tightly shut eyes, her cute nose and finally resting on her rosy red lips. Cute? rosy? so much for not liking her, don't you think?" Against my better judgement, I walked up to her and shook her harshly. Her eyes snapped open and she stood up, her eyes suddenly brimmed with worry. "That's my bed. Get your filthy body away from here.", I shouted. "From now onwards, you will sleep on the couch. Now move!", I clutched her wrist and yanked her towards the couch. My heart clenched when a small whimper escaped her lips. But now was not the time to fall for her tactics. "At least tell me what's my mis- mistake", She stuttered, tears welling in her eyes. "That's for me to know and for you to figure out. Now stop pestering me. I've had enough of you for a day.", I said, my voice still hard. She nodded and lay down on the couch, a tear escaped her eyes making me feel guilt-ridden. I went towards my bed, a memory played in front of my eyes. "If you don't stop your office work right now, I'll sleep on the couch", Emily said, a frown was etched on her face. I put my laptop on the side table and caught her wrist, pulling her towards me. She lost balance and fell down on the bed beside me. I turned around facing her, supporting my weight on my arm. "So what were you saying, love?" I leaned down and whispered in her ear, slightly biting her earlobe in this process. "Uhmm..", she trailed off clearly affected by my action, her voice barely above a whisper. "I.. I was.. saying... Umm.. I.. Forget it", she stuttered. I chuckled and sat straight, focusing my attention towards my laptop. "You know I hate you.", she commented. "So the princess has started lying too. Tch Tch. And I thought I was marrying a saint", I laughed, diverting my attention towards her. Her face turned into a scowl as she threw a pillow towards me. "Ok ok stop. I am sorry princess. I was a bit busy due to the new project. Let me make it up to you.", I said, pulling her in a tight hug. "Do you want to go to Paris with me this weekend? No distractions. Just you and me. It would be like a second honeymoon.", I mumbled, my face buried in her hair. "Oh my God! Don't Tell me you are kidding. Of course I'd love to go.", she replied looking in my eyes, her face brightened. I put a chaste kiss on her forehead before pulling her in my arms again."I love you Emily. Don't you dare talk again about leaving me.", I whispered. I groaned, trying to erase her memory from my mind. I fell for her innocence when she was a traitor. This new Jackson knows better than to fall for another innocent face. That was the last thought on my mind when sleep finally enveloped me. ****************
