Chapter 9 – Confidences
“All right,” Jerry said. “Here's what I've decided...” He was back in his hotel room. Brandon was there, too. They had called room service, and both men were on their second beers.
“You're really going to call an escort?” Brandon asked dubiously.
“No. My idea has nothing to do with sex.”
“Then what—”
“I'm going to level with you.” Jerry took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “I've been keeping a secret from everyone. Well, not everyone. But almost everyone. And now I'm going to tell you.”
“All right. I'll play along. What secret? And why now?”
“I'm telling you now because if you understand there's more to all this than meets the eye, then maybe you'll take the mission a little more seriously.”
