Celestina’s POV
So, Hayley is not his mate because as I heard from the rumors that they are together. I could feel the mates, I have seen werewolves couple before and Xavier and Hayley didn’t share the musk or anything that screamed couple. Weirdly, in my heart that came as a relief. Suddenly I remembered I had to ask him about the book but Xavier has distracted me to the extent that I am deviating from my mission. I have to focus and stay at my line of a goal.
“Wait Mars, I also have something else to ask you.”
“Go ahead.” He urged me to continue.
“I tried to read the book but after the first page there was nothing and even the first page’s language was unknown to me. How am I ever going to complete that book?”
“You will soon complete it; you are the only one in this entire world who can. And the language is not a tongue, it is magic that a wizard cast in such a way that only a true tribrid can understand. Just be patient.” He took out a page from the notebook. “Did you read the title?”
“Yes; The holy tribrid.”
“You got your first answer, Celestina.” He gave me a knowing look. Then suddenly the realization hit me I was the tribrid. Oh my god, I got up the step. I knew I had the power of three supernatural beings but I was not sure if I was the tribrid.
“What about the first tribrid? Can’t she read the book?”
“I don’t know, dear. But I do know one thing that you are the balance when I got this book from the wizard he asked me to give it to them being with whom I can get the power of nature and I got that from you when I shook your hand. I can only answer any of your questions once you unlock another page. Till then I think it’s will be sufficient.”
“Thank you so much, Mars. Suddenly I feel like I can achieve what I have aimed for.” I got this confidence from Mars’ words. I can do this, I can return to my parents soon. It was almost time for my shift to end so, I was about to leave when Mars called me out.
“Celestina, you can achieve anything. Sometimes the distraction can be the real answer. Take every step carefully; you have a long way to go.” I got out of the shop and saw a car in the distance which appeared familiar. I have seen that in the school parking lot maybe it was of one of the vampires as this street was their inhabitant. For my way to Mac’s, I kept on thinking about what Mars said. The last part was definitely about Xavier. At the Macs, as usual, the town people were having a good time, I was helping our chef with the cookies today. Today, even the werewolves were present. I was about to complete the shift and packed the food which we decided for the party and took off my apron.
At Mac’s Alyssa is the bartender and she is a year senior to me and was taking a year drop before going to college. Then, there was Matt who was the same age as mine as the busboy. We three of the same age range got along.
“Guys if you get the time it would be great if you could join us at the party.” I told Alyssa and Matt while counting my tip.
“I have one more shift here and tomorrow’s school. Next time I will be there.” Matt replied. Alyssa was taking some online classes so she was busy as well.
“Your loss. I will see you guys tomorrow.”
I called Peter and he helped me with the food. We reached home together and Nat had already set up the lights. Now, we had to take care of the pool in the backyard. I and Peter took the responsibility for that; Nat’s friends were here too.
“Amy texted me that she will here in half an hour,” Peter told me showing his phone. I took the table cloths and kept the soft drinks, foods on them.
“So this where you live?” He asked me.
“Yeah, Nat’s parents are really generous but I didn’t wanna be a burden so they had a cabin right beside the house. I renovated it according to my own liking and yeah it’s pretty good.”
“No, it’s really good that you are making this work for yourself.” I smiled at him and we were done with the backyard.
“Guys!!!” I heard Nat calling for us, I and Peter went inside to where Nat was. She was in her father’s Liquor cabinet. “Which one do you think will suit the party?”
“Ok, Nat that’s too rebellious. Your dad is not gonna like that.”
“C’mon Celest take a chill pill.”Candice commented. “Haven’t you ever done something like this behind your parents’ back?” My parents’ subject was really uncomfortable for me and suddenly I started to feel claustrophobic.
“Of course. Excuse me”
I walked faster towards my cabin. I did something that was unforgivable but they still forgave me. I had no right to take that for granted.
“Celest!! Wait.” I reached to the porch of the cabin. I needed some air to get my head straight. Peter caught up to me and sat beside me. “What happened? Is it about your parents?” He understood and looked genuinely concerned.
“It’s just that I have been away from them for a long time and I don’t feel that comfortable talking about them. It brings back some memories.”
“I understand, I mean not exactly but parents can be a sore topic to some people. You miss them?”
“More than anything. My dad was the best cook I have ever known; every night he would cook us dinner and my mom would sit with her glass of wine gazing at him or teaching me to play the piano.” Tears brimmed my eyes at the happy memory. That was our usual night, small picnics on the weekend and everything about them.
“I miss my mom too.” I looked at him with a questioning look.
“She had a brain tumor and passed away when I was 6 or 7 years old. I don’t even have a solid memory of hers but have photographs to remember her. She was beautiful; dad never married again and did everything to fill the hole. I would do anything to get one chance to meet her once and tell her about my life and how much I love her; maybe also say goodbye.” His eyes were also glistening with tears. The tears I had in my eyes were now flowing down my cheeks. “Hey, don’t get sad.” I still had my parents and had the chance to go back to them but I blew my chance. I could just go and ask them to forgive me but I can’t expose them to any danger. That made me sad, how the situations can differ and cause heartbreaking pain. Peter would do anything to meet his mom once more and here I am…
“Peter your mom would be proud for having such a great son.” He smiled and side hugged me for a while. We sat looking at the moon quietly.
“Your parents will be proud of you too, Celest.” Will they? His hands touched mine but I pulled back and stood up.
“You want to see my room?”
“Of course.”
I showed him my art pieces and he looked at each one of them with a smile.
“These are beautiful. You are really an artist. So do you still play the piano?” He asked me.
“Sometimes, it has been a while since I last played.”
“I have one at my house but dad doesn’t know how to play. My mom used to play so I wanna learn as well. I would really like to learn it from you.” He asked me to come to his house. It will be great I guess.
“Sure. On the weekends I would love to.”
“It’s set then. Now let’s go to the party otherwise Amy and Nat will eat us alive.” Yeah, that is really possible. I laughed with him and went to the main house. I knew Peter was telling me his secrets because he thought of me as a human who could understand his true emotions. Every moment felt like I was betraying him but I am still the same as the supernatural being. I hope he understands that in the future.
We only invited a few friends from the senior year but it’s a party anyone can come to. People were coming in from the front door but many were in the backyard. Amy jumped in front of us startling both me and Peter.
“What the hell, Amy?” Peter asked her with his hands on his chest.
“I should be asking that to you too, I have been here for 5 whole minutes” she showed her five fingers on our faces “None of you were to welcome me.”
“Aww, my queen. I am here now.” He tried to hug Amy but she dodged him.
“You stink, don’t come near me.” Peter acted to be offended.
“Enough you too. Let’s get something to eat.”
“And drink,” Amy added.
We went to the backyard to get something to eat. It was filled with teenagers drinking, taking a dip in the pool, smoking weed, and many more. We went to the food table and grabbed a slice of pizza. Peter was joking about how everyone was going to be tomorrow as we were having a party on the school night.
“That guy over there” he pointed to a guy doing pots “will be like ‘oh man the class is moving man’.” He said that in a mocking tone. Few other schoolmates also joined us and we were laughing like hell. I was enjoying the party more than I thought I would. Xavier was not here and that was good. ‘Yeah, you keep telling yourself that’ my wolf sneered at me. I shushed her and got back to my friends.
“I was looking for you.” Damien whispered in my ear and stood in front of me.
“Hi,” I replied to him. He was here with his group of friends s***h vampire group of the school.
“Are you enjoying the party?” Damien asked me.
“I should be the one asking you that.”
“Very well I am having a blast as I have found you now. Here are my friends Alex, Arianna, Milton, and Samantha.” They all muttered a ‘Hi’. For the vampires, it’s most difficult to blend in with the humans with their constant bloodthirst, but Damien seems to be doing a great job.
“Um, where is Natalie?” Samantha asked me.
“She must around somewhere. Give her a minute she will be here.” She nodded her head and her eyes searched among the crowd. Natalie appeared from the back yard and she waved at me. Samantha also saw her.
“Hey I was looking for you,” Nat told me.
“Yeah, Samantha was also looking for you here.” Nat finally saw her and dismissed her with a smile.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?”
“Yeah sure. Excuse me!” I excused myself from the group and went to the corner with Nat.
“I am sorry for what Candice said, she didn’t know any better about your parents.”
“I am fine, Nat. I know that it’s just that talking about them makes me anxious. Don’t worry about it.” I told her and I know it was my own mindset giving me issues.
“So, you good?” She asked me, I nodded my head, “Alright then I am sorry again for something else.”
“For what now?” Just as she was about to say something; my eyes met with his soul-piercing green eyes.
“Xavier and Hayley are here.”
