It was something that she had never felt before, certainly not with the Prince who she had to admit to herself that she was somewhat afraid of. He was very pompous, extremely stiff and, she thought, difficult to talk to. She had found herself wondering ever since her engagement had been announced how she could marry a man who seemed as far away from her as if he was on top of a mountain covered in snow. He had what her Nanny had called ‘cold eyes’ and she had the uncomfortable feeling that she would never be at ease with him. She that started to dance around the room with her partner murmuring extravagant compliments in her ear, which made her heart beat even faster.
